House of the Dragon Season 2 Had NO "Behind the Scenes Chaos" WITHIN Ryan Condal's Production Team. Reacting to the final, large section of Savage Books' video, starting at 1 hour 13 minutes: • Sara Hess and the Fan-...
So I don’t think there’s necessarily dysfunction in the writers room but I do say that the character writing has multiple issues. They aren’t coordinating about little character things and they don’t seem to understand certain things about the knock on effects of the characters’ actions. Mysaria especially is a really good example of, they have no idea how to write a character like this and because of that the character has a knock on effect on rhaenyra’s plot. Not the same sex kiss, that was an unplanned ad lib, but all of the other character choices were really stupid. Same with Rhaena and the vale. I would also say that the end with Daemons vision was a dumb idea because it tosses his character agency out the window and makes it seem like god reached a hand down and smacked him. That’s extremely weak to me. Rhaenys would have been a good character but the dragonpit hangs over her unfortunately and the inconsistency continues. Even little things like we’re going back to war is a change that they added into the story because timeline wise the only war in her lifetime was the stepstones and she wasn’t there in the show universe. The major failing were the attempts to keep rhaenyra and allicent in the story because in inventing those scenes they weaken the narrative and future plot points. Especially the ending which weakens rheanyra and allicent especially allicent and breaks her irreversibly. I just think they don’t have someone going over the scripts to catch all these and or tell them this is going to have a knock on effect in the future don’t do this, your idea is stupid.
Within reasonable doubt, such inconsistencies might have been due to lack of rewrites. It’s difficult to say. But I DO say there’s absolutely no hard evidence of “chaos” between writers and directors WITHIN Condal’s staff.
@@thedragondemands5186 I don’t know inconsistencies like what’s happening currently have been around since season 1 and they’ve continued compounding. Before they were sort of understandable/less noticeable because of the time jumps, but now that there are no time jumps the inconsistencies are more noticeable and less excusable. So I’m more questioning their competence with this in constructing a coherent narrative.
how is 2 more episodes is gonna fix alicent and rhaenyra character assasination, how is 2 more episode is gonna fix poorly written dialogs, how is 2 more episode gonna fix every death in the show becoming meaningless.how is 2 more episode is gonna fix corlys being NPC the whole season
Two more episodes wouldn't have fixed most of it, but the months upon months upon months upon months of rewriting that they lost out on would have.
Let's start with none of these things are actually problems 😂
@@GrinMonister even a reduction to these 8 episodes…BUT allowed to do live rewrites, would have been significantly better
@thedragondemands5186 agreed!! It's why writers fought so hard for writers to be onset for live rewrites during the writers' strike because they know how important it is even though most modern productions remove it to save money.
I'll give Savage credit for at least trying to keep a rational discussion, he's not one of those idiots ranting about how everything is 'woke'.
Indeed.
That's what makes his incomprehension of HoTD more distressing.
I'd like to agree with you but...only time will tell if that continues to be the case.

Once is a coincidence...
@@alanpennie8013 I mean most people with above average IQ who see the trend of "wokeness" or whatever you want to call it in media have learned to be "diplomatic" in the way they speak about these issues, because one wrong word, and your reply to this thread would have been much more harsh to him.
He is literally describing the same issues, just in a more categorical format, breaking everything down into parts to where people can understand it. The essence is the same.
Some "idiots" don't know that the term "woke" has changed meaning when applied to film & television.
I don’t get how you can defend Condal’s creative choices while bashing on D&D. S2 of HotD was a huge disappointment. Rhaenyra had more screentime one season than Dany had in all of GoT, yet she is so forgettable and bland. They should’ve let the younger cast shine, but we barely see any of them, save for Aegon. Who other than book readers will genuinely care when Jace and Helaena dies? The stakes of the world are also seemingly non existent, given how characters can enter enemy territory without issues. At least the first seasons of GoT made the medieval norms believable, and Renly and Stannis met under parley. It’s just such a disappointment. I was so hyped for S2, and feel nothing for S3. According to George, more toxic butterflies awaits, so that’s nice, I guess
@@sunerys8511 this video is strictly defending that Condal’s team isn’t fighting with each other
about inconsistencies, is it just me, or this a bit of an issue with TV in general? one could certainly debate how much, in HOTD, was due to the studio, how much to the strike, and how much to a lack of co-ordination among the writers.
i still find HOTD significantly better than other shows i've watched lately.
@@countbalerionofhousetatter2624 I would agree. There’s been issues with consistency for a really long time. I would say it predates the writers strike but the writers strike has made impacts.
The reduction to 8 episodes could easily be both "not really their decision" AND a creative decision. The studio probably just said they have 20% less budget, and they made the decision to cut off 2 episodes rather than reduce the budget for each episode by 20%
Can this not be the last? 😮
@@RonsarLo what else do you want me to say?
He’s just expressing he likes the content. He doesn’t literally mean stretching it out and keep covering it😂

I generally think it's crass to pick up on errors, but if Savage is such a Sapochnik fan boy he should learn how to pronounce his name.
@@alanpennie8013 I refrained from specifically pointing that out in Part 5 of 7, “Savage’s videos itself inconsistent and has several minor errors that could benefit from a rewrite” - but ASOIAF pronunciation can get weird
Where is Savage getting this BS from?
@@carastone3473 I don’t know
Here’s 3 examples of characters that start off as villains and has a redemption arc but you are still left wondering can they be forgiven
1. Vegeta from Dragon Ball
2. Dan Scott from One Tree Hill
3. Negan from The Walking Dead
Probably more these were just the ones to come to my mind first
Jaime Lannister, Game of Thrones, don't watch season 8.
Stop stop he's already dead
