Bad Bloody day of farming
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 гру 2019
- We started the day off with a weird situation were a calf's ear was bleeding from an unknown cause. Next it was discovered a calf had died over night. Upon further investigation, taking into account the situation, we are thinking it died from Clostridium Perfringens Type A. We vaccinated for type C & D. This pathogen can take a healthy critter and kill them suddenly. At the end of the day while we were box scraping our lots, we buried the tractor.
Welcome to Sonne Farms!
On this channel we showcase numerous jobs a Corn/Soybean/Beef producing operation takes on each day. Hop in the cab or sorting alley with Cole, and see how life really is for the people that help feed the US and the rest of the world. In addition to Corn, Soy, and Cattle, Sonne Farms puts up grass and alfalfa and sells pure bred Black Angus Bulls.

Thank you for your video sharing. I run a small cattle operation here in southern Oregon. I am 64 year old woman who works full time as nurse practitioner then full time on my farm. I have 22 head of commercial and registered Angus. I have had some good days and bad days and watching your videos really gives me comfort that I'm doing "ok". I love raising beef and know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Would love to come visit your farm someday if I ever get to South Dakota.
How many times can I like your comment!! You are a busy gal! I am a midwife, with a small mini-farm on the side, just 5 acres, but i produce some of our food, and sell some and make wine. Keep up the good work!
Melodeon how do you have time to watch Sonne Farm videos? what a woman!! bless you! 😊
Too funny when your dad called you a prick and you are like yeah. Made my day.
The daily onslaught of having a big farm. Kudos to you and your Dad!
Sounds like Dad needs a snickers. My son and I bust each other often when working. Good video.Too bad you lost a bull.
I worked at a stable where ppl boarded their horses and got the luck of finding one dead one morning... it's a shocker but saddly part of life.
Real world ranching, the good the bad and the ugly. Well done. Too many other ag channels are turning into nothing more than long advertisements for shiny new equipment..
12:38. LMAO 😂 😂. Now that's funny. You guys get along well I can tell. It's nice you two can joke around like that👍👍👍✌️
Great video!!! More video time for dad, he's hilarious. Sad for the lost of the bull, but it shows what you guys are up against everyday and how you have to deal with it.
I like watching you feed the cattle real nice operation. My dad let the cows run the cornfield all winter long the cows stayed out the field till blizzard then in barn they went.
It's a really sinking feeling when you lose a head of livestock. You work hard every day and do your best and still these things happen. It sucks. Once had a feeder steer get pneumonia and lost it when the vet tried to give it antibiotic in the vein. Good luck guys.
Thank you!
Another great video. You are seriously a great film maker.
Wow, thank you!
Yes..they run a great farm...and are great at filming too... So ENJOYABLE 👍🤗👍
Youre getting good at this edit thing. Laughed a lot at the bite scene :'') good job man, love your vids
Always fun in the winter
Hey Cole! Hope all is well! These videos are great, keep it up!
Thank Chase!
Very good videos, a good education about farms. From Scotland
I came back to earlier videos for some reason and found out that Brian appreciates you more now (December 2021). You are not a prick now. 😂awesome
hahaha thanks
“ so dad what did we learn today “ long pause the funny a$$ response 😆😆
The dog and dad will be sleeping outside tonite if Mom sees this video
clearly his dad doesn't learn anything since he knows everything, like mine does or any other farmer dads
@@valtur25
I'd like to hear from MrsMom
I saw the dog jumping up into the feed trough and biting the animals ears.
Much respect for you, I feed 14 cows on a small farm in SC, your feedings are a major event!!
David Gay i feed 2500
wow you guys do it so different to us here in the Uk , our cattle are outside but have the use of a shed if they like , reallt good watching , will film ours then so you can see
Ellie you bad bad girl biting the cows ear !! What were you thinking silly goose😊. Oh my goodness that’s awful about the bull. Sorry ☹️ Great video thanks 🙋♀️💗
My first Sonne Farms video.. Subscribed!! Great work guys..
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
Yes, dad did it again! I had to back up the film. He burned you .🤣 If he keeps making me bust up laughing, someone better send me a diaper to put on before watching. I sure enjoyed working cattle on our farm. This makes me want to ditch my career and rejoin the family farm again. My parents are about 50miles from your location. Winter completes things. And naughty Ellie 🐶 Thanks again, Professor Dewey L.
Nice editing! Thanks for the video 😊
Another great vid.Leg arms can fix. And save a little money.Good on you

Happy New Year!
You are a very good cinemaphotographer.
Thanks!!
Good video. Never disappointed
Love your cattle video
Nice video!!
Some times a cow dog just cannot resist...my border collie was the same way. Had to yield to temptation occasionally
You said you heard shooting going on ,maybe the cow got hit .
Pray for you for farming in South Dakota. Too cold for me. Best of everything in 2020..
Thank you!
Hello from Sioux Falls!! 👋👋
Howdy!
sorry about your loss with The bull
Those bale processer work great we have a highline with final cut so we grind are own bales do use it to windrow hay in the field for cows.
Great video, I hate getting stuck.
Sorry for the loss of the bull! If I remember right, didn't Ellie bite the ear of one of them last year too? I wonder if the cow nipped at Ellie so she retaliated! But a great video non the less! Merry Christmas Sonne Frames!
The camera angles on this video were really good👍👍
Yay, thank you!
Looks like a typical day Cole, at least at our place.....
bad doggie nice video and happy new year
What do you do with the dead animals? Bury them somewhere on the farm? Do you ever send any tissue/blood samples to a lab to figure out what killed them? Thanks for the video. Always enjoy them!
an other great video, thanks, really interesting and entertaining
12:42 KUDOS to the KID !! If MrsMom see this... the DOG and DAD will be sharing bedding OUTSIDE for a week
Now you can know who really listens to your videos
You guys should look into a Myrenk Farm Service (Platte SD) feed wagon and box scraper.
So sorry
Nice video
Hi Cole just watched this video again and was wondering if you found out what caused that bull to die?
Hey Cole man, U got ur nice orange hat dirty.☘🇨🇦
Good video cole tell your dad that was awesome come back I see the apple don't fall to far from the tree lmao & I see yal dont need no snow but yal are good at what ya do . Did you take the bull to the vet to see why it died ?
Never would have known what happened to that ear without the GoPro. Crazy.
Thanks for the video.
I wonder if the Bull had been shot, and died near the feed lot? Too bad. Hate to see sick or dead animals. But that's farming. Great video as usual.
If you have live stock your gonna have dead stock to! Looked like one of those long days with everything not going to plan but at least with a UA-cam channel it makes for a good video hahaha! Sweet video dude! Also sweet drone shots!
Thanks Jan! Yea its funny, disaster on the farm means a win for the youtube channel, always draws in more attention!
there at 12:30 I notice only one wheel spinning, don't you have a pedal to push that locks in both tires so both will spin (easier to get unstuck) I know we have that over here on most the tractors I have seen.
Sorry you lost a bull!!
Subscribed! Good job vlogging!
Thanks Tim!
Finding dead critters is never good... If he was stuck in a hole and couldn't get up, at least you would know what happened...
Last one we lost that we didn't really know what happened, was an awesome bull calf! Weaned off over 700#.... All we could figure out is he had his head under the fence sneaking some grass.... And got ran over by half the cow heard when we let them out....
BTW, dogs butt would have a boot in it!!!
Thanks for the video!
You said a few days ago y’all had cows in a corn field. Do y’all shoot dove up there? Thanks for sharing
Interesting and enjoyable! You never did follow up on the sick calf tho...and did you ever find out what the bull died of, or was the sick calf mistaken for the dead bull ?
Sorry about your bull. Any loss farming is bad as it takes a lot of work and expense just to break even.
Dad got a little testy with junior, you have to earn the right to ask that question.
On our scraper we have blocks so it weighs it down
lol I like when he said your a prick I thought we new that 🍺🍔😂😂😂
clostridium perfringens a, b, c, d e the alphabet killers. Sometimes change in feeding from pasture to feed or stress from regrouping can trigger C. Perringens A . Like you say it happens so fast it take take an animal very quickly.
Age of 16 after college hours I was working in farm, just to I have my own money and I loved to work on a feeder haha
do you guys chop your bales with the net wrap still on? @sonnefarms
“You’re a prick.” I want to see that incorporated into your logo. Sorry about the bull!
Something my pops would say about me lmao
Was that dirt you put in the feed..?
👍 to bad about the bull
Great channel! Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪👍your silage clamp.... Is that sheeted with polythene??? Doesn't look like it but it must be or just rolled very good for it to ferment
We don't put a sheet over it, we do pack it, driving back and forth many times.
Sorry for the bull. That dog is mean little critter You still going college. Nice job
Yea, currently on Christmas break, one semester left, graduating in May!
Good. Hope you are taking first aid in last semester. Congratulations
What did you do with the dead bull?
what did you do with the dead bull?
G'day
👍 Dad
2:28 something interesting goin on ere! - when the cows tougues are frozen to metal poles you have a problem 🙄
Question 😉 nothing to do with calving or mommas or tractors or farming....
What music do you and Brian like....?....x
I like everything!
Nice camera work, too bad about the bull
Did ye figure out what happened to that bull? and shame looked like fine animal
That’s a gosh darn shame that the bull died. Did you ever figure out what happened?
Too bad guys, cattle farmer that doesn't have dead stock is obviously retired. My wife n kids have a dumb choco lab and he likes to charge at the cattle at the feed rail and i told them after wup'n him "that's it, no more warnings, next time it's a POP!"
What was that that you used for bedding ?
That was soybean stover, we didn't get any corn stalks baled
Awesome video
one of my neighbors was losing calf's like crazy for what seemed to be no reason and it took us awhile to find out that his donkey was grabbing them by the neck and being rough with them. he lost quite a bit of money worth of calf's that winter.
It's kinda funny that the reason he has the 2 donkeys are for protection for the herd yet it ended up being worse than the wolves, coyotes and bears.
Thats crazy!
Doesn’t the net wrap get wrapped up in the knives on the blue processor
It does, but as it builds up the knives start to cut off the wrap, it is sort of self cleaning
Put the rocks in the low spot. Did ya get a rock crusher yet? make your own gravel to fill in places you get stuck!
i see those moormans/ADM mineral there 13:51 my father works for the plant in bluffton indiana.
Sweet!
Lucky you were filming as you were feeding else you wouldn't have known what caused the ear to bleed!
Turn the frown upside down dad!
Hey Cole man, what do u call that hound- dog? Ellie? or Ally?
Every time I broke up with a Fiancé, I named my dog after her!
What do you do with the dead bull?
Bad dog!!!!!!
You look so young
