I believe Elvis Presley treated his band like family members. He was always joking around w them.
There is only one Elvis! There will be no other, EVER!!!!!
I saw Elvis in concert 4 times. The first was in Jan/Feb of 1970, before he went to Vegas. It was in Miami and he did his 7 minute plus version of Suspicious Minds taking his belt off and pretending to whip Ronnie Tutt screaming at him “faster faster”. It was his next to last song and the entire arena was up dancing in the aisles....a performance you never forget. The thing about Elvis was he did a one hour show, no encores and he was gone. But you never felt cheated, it was a whirlwind performance....like I said, you never forget it and I’m 70 years old!!

He should have won more awards for a lot of his later music. He seemed to get lost somehow when it came to giving him the recognition he do right deserved. I'm happy that he at least got it for this one. Especially with a talent such as his!!!!😊

It was all from jealousy from the people in the industry. They kept calling him a flash in the pan, he should've won several Grammys. He got 3 Grammys for his gospel albums but should've won many more! He outsold them all and won all kinds of Gold and Platinum! Still selling and being awarded Golds!

This was the original clip of Suspicious Minds in the Original release of Elvis-That's The Way It Is... and the very best version with fantastic ending. Elvis was the best.
I get worn out just watching him do all his moves...the crazy thing is that even though he is doing so many moves he still sings great. The other strange thing is that I feel that Suspicious MInds studio and live are two different songs. The studio recording is very emotional and soulful where as the live version is much more about energy and performance. Both great just very different in my opinion. Loving your reactions John, keep em coming...

I can't imagine being there, the electricity in the air, like an Ali fight, or an Evel Knievel jump (excitement, anticipation).
I was at 2 of his concerts in Arizona. I was a kid but man it was amazing. At 9 I just cried through the entire concert because I had a HUGE crush on Elvis and it was overwhelming being in the 3rd row.
@@toodlescae wow, thanks for the story. I could have seen him when he came through my area 2 times between the ages of when I was 6-8. He played 2 shows at one of his stops. Step dad didn't let me go.

The best entertainer ever.
Just knocking it out of the park here. So much energy, It must have been tough to do 2 shows a night for a month. Colonel Parker should of done shorter engagements, like 3 or 4 days then move on. 30 days is a super workload. I think it could on contributed to his downfall, just a grueling schedule. He was amazing here, fit, healthy and looked happy.
Elvis owned the whole stage, and I mean if running out of breath, if he instructed the band, or singers to step it up, they would've done it, the band/singers took their instructions from Elvis, most performances were agreed/songs too, but the style, how long they went on for was not agreed, so EVERYONE looked at Elvis/movements etc and played/sang accordingly..
Most bands today are recorded/played back whatever you wanna call it, miming essentially, 1hr of Elvis or 1hr of a big singer miming, I'd pick Elvis EVERY time.

I’m not sure if you knew this, but Elvis was stationed in Germany during his Army days. After he first went in, he was called back to Home because his mom died. He had a really rough time after that since they were really close. Other soldiers could hear him crying at night. He loved Germany and made many long lasting relationships including his future wife. Finally someone is doing this show instead of the concha show version of Suspicious Minds. Not that the other is not great. I just think he has more energy in this one and it's a midnight show which I heard he liked better.

I as a life long elvis fan am glad you chose to react to this particular version of suspicious minds which in my opinion is the best all round performance that has been released! This version is from the midnight show on August 12 1970 in Vegas but for some reason the weaker version from 24 hrs earlier is more often shown and reacted to on social media! So glad this has been seen and reacted to

@@johngibsonmusic The one I mentioned is actually an audio with clips added. I meant it mainly for you to enjoy. He changed, " do you gaze at your doorstep and wish I was there" to, "do you gaze at your bald head and wish you had hair". A man in the front row took his toupee off and waved it around. When Elvis saw it he cracked up!! One of the backup singers was so steadfast with her part and that just added to it! Great "medicine" for a bad day. Your reaction to the regular version will be great, though. 😎

Another superb reaction John and your analysis of the band and back up singers is right on target. I saw this performance in the first release of his film 'That's The Way It Is' in a big London cinema in1970/1. We in the UK had never seen him live or were likely to and the crowd in the cinema cheered madly after this performance

I love Elvis..I enjoyed this version very much..Elvis always gives a fantastic performance. However I must say that the other version I've seen him perform this song in is even better. Elvis is a legend..his music is timeless..he will never die❤️

I love how Elvis was able to transition from gyrating his hips mostly to using his arms to guide the music behind him. My favorite examples would be "Proud Mary" and "Polk Salad Annie" from '72 and "Suspicious Minds" from "Aloha From Hawaii", the live broadcast.
