I got mine in Dec 2022 for 170 USD. Love everything about the blade especially the handle. A bit narrow on the index finger groove but as long as I avoid abusing it, the blade will perform normal camping and hunting chores capably. Absolutely loving my Camp Creek along with the Brush Wolf, Yacare and El Pionero! Cheers...
This blade is legit! Thanks for review GT! I ordered with a 10% discount from SMKW and got it for $112 bucks delivered! I have XL-XXL sized hands and the ergonomics are absolutely perfect. I can't believe how well the knife/sheath is made and how fantastic the "earth camo " handles look. Home run for sure. Thanks again for video!
I’m diggin’ it. For daily use, S35VN is my favorite steel. It’s properties and price fit my needs perfectly. I don’t hunt often, but that’s about to change. Currently, I’ve been using a cheap Schrade...Old Timer. Nothing wrong with it, especially considering I use it so infrequently. But, this Tops would certainly be better. The design of my Schrade makes it easy to puncture bits that you you don’t want punctured...lol. Great review. 👍
You just made my day! Yesterday mine arrived and could not believe the steel and quality... plus a great sheath. This was just released and was wondering why I only paid 150? I will be using mine next week on a hike and will update this comment.
My main knife for larger wood processing is the ESEE Junglas and I love it but I’m needing something a little smaller for food prep, skinning, and smaller wood tasks. Would this be good for lighter batoning or should that be avoided with this knife?
Thanks Aaron! Really like the looks of this knife. I need another knife like I need to gain more weight, but this is cool. Really like the way tops is going
Thanks for the review. This really looks like a great general use knife for outdoors. I can especially imagine using it around food prep outside. Just the price in EU of 250€ is a hard pill to swallow.
Hey, talking about the strike capability, couldn't you use the concave digit forward of the stop and just behind the cutting edge-for the ferril(sp?) rod?? Too small for your rod? I noticed that you didn't mention it. Thanks, take care, "GOD Bless", sincerely -
Sick. I've been eyeing this thing since I saw it in a few SHOT Show vids. Each one looks like it fits the gap in my collection perfectly and will stand up to years of use and abuse, as TOPS generally do. Thanks, man.
Done and done. It took me a week to talk myself into it, but I just have to try it. So, I picked up this, the TOPS Scandi Folder and a cheap Kershaw EDC flipper. Now, the agonizing wait begins for it to show up... 👀
Like the knife. Off topic question, since they were in the video, for performance do you prefer the tops hog or the esee 4hm? I know as a total package the 4hm would probably be better but in regards to performance which one.
@@gideonstactical thank you for your response. I have always liked the hog since you did the vid on it. Defenatly whant to get one. You should show off your custom kydex sheath for it. Is it AZ welky?
@Cypress Hunter have a video up on my page of a swedish custom maker patrik Carlvik he does them right he has good prices too and his Aeb-l heat treat is insanely good have a kitchen knife i tested from him in Aeb-l at hrc 66
@Cypress Hunter thank you mate appreciate it. Also a very good production knife it the jakaripuuko in 80crv2 or a lionsteel m4 in m390 both of thoose are wicked good
@Magnum Mountaineer yes lionsteel is great their m7 to niolox is very good. I find always any knife to thick haha look how thin ive made some of my kitchen knives
Sick blade, but unfortunately Tops knifes seems to be a lot more expensive in Europe. Sometimes x3 in prices. Would love to add one to my collection of Tops knifes. Thanks for the review
Sheesh, $150 for all that? Deal for sure, and yeh the neck is a bit thin, but you said it yourself it makes sense with this design, it's good for kind of a pinch grip for skinning or camp kitch, and that kydex sweet!
Nice vid. Metal around 1st handle bolt hole looks insubstantial though. I'll give it a miss. Keep it up. Really appreciate your thoughts. ATB from Mcr. UK
I personally never liked TOPS knives because of those sh*tty nylon sheaths that come with each knife & I don't want to have to spend another $50+ or $60+ on a custom kydex sheath & $20 - $30 on a belt loop for them. Their stuff is already overpriced as it is. I might buy this one though, I like it.
For what! Every quality 3/8 or 5/16 rod I order comes with some form of 30 cent scraper for lighting fires. Never understood the spine BS..another youtube fallacy!
TOPS Knives does differential tempering. The spine doesn't need to scrape firesteel bec its made to be tougher than something that would strike rods. Do you want a usable, tough knife or the lesser knife that strikes rods? Your choice, both valid. Not all knives are all things to all people

I would love to see Tops make the Silent Hero in this steel w/ Kydex sheath.

$150??? Waow! And to top it all off, a very functional design!
God damn really just bought 1 today 220$ I slept on a deal
Great Review, functional blade. Thanks for the info, I would like to see TOPS update a few of their knives in this steel. God Bless!

Great review. 👍
It's a Nessmuk style blade.
I would ditch the leatherbelt loop & use a locking carabiner instead.
Good vid.
That would be an excellent skinner. I don’t hunt ( I am definitely NOT against hunting ), however, I love the looks of this blade.
I thought they would overprice it at 250. Glad they did not

How was your outing? Whats your thoughts on Camp Creek?
Can’t wait to see what s35vn wild pig hunter looks like.
Yeah, that would be a winner.
From your lips to their ears !
You sold me with this one. I'm saving up for it! Great review Aaron!
if they made the BOB in vn, i would cry
id like to see the bob in cpm3v!
I wish I had that dangler for my Idaho Hunter sheath. Any idea if/where I can get one? Tops doesn't sell them separately.

Wow! That would be an awesome skinner. Hope they make a BOB in that steel. I live on the coast so stainless is the choice for me
Idaho made, love tops knives. Every knife for every situation.
Should I get the parther war Bowie

Daniel Ruthven with my custom kydex I like the HoG more
@@gideonstactical thank you for your response. I have always liked the hog since you did the vid on it. Defenatly whant to get one. You should show off your custom kydex sheath for it. Is it AZ welky?
OK, Yeppers, yes sir...I will be adding two of these to my rotating kit!
Ck vs jg5 for deer hunting belt knife? Which one do you recommend?
Orlando Flores probably CK because the g-10 will not absorb blood, and s35vn will not rust as easily, and the kydex won’t absorb blood and odors
Thank you. You have the best knife reviews. I bout the silent hero because of your review and I love it I guess one more Tops knife won’t hurt lol
That is an awesome deal with an kydex sheath. I need to get one of those. Another awesome review Aaron.
Hey, nice video! What's better and worse than esee JG5? Thank
This looks like a neat blade and good video by the way. Im surprised you didn’t compare it to the Esee JG5
Ah man. Now I need to figure out how to buy it. Solid review Aaron, thanks brother.
Looks like a good knife just hope its thin enough behind the edge
@Cypress Hunter yes sir agree 100% there. They are way way way to thick at and behind the edge to carve any good
@Cypress Hunter have a video up on my page of a swedish custom maker patrik Carlvik he does them right he has good prices too and his Aeb-l heat treat is insanely good have a kitchen knife i tested from him in Aeb-l at hrc 66
@Cypress Hunter thank you mate appreciate it. Also a very good production knife it the jakaripuuko in 80crv2 or a lionsteel m4 in m390 both of thoose are wicked good
@Magnum Mountaineer yes it to thick behind the edge but becomes a very good knife after you have thinned it
@Magnum Mountaineer yes lionsteel is great their m7 to niolox is very good.
I find always any knife to thick haha look how thin ive made some of my kitchen knives
What is the advantage of having a belly on a knife?
Love the videos, what was the sheath retention like, I may have missed that. Thanks
Very tight, I will probably hit it with a hair dryer to loosen it up.
Thanks for the info Aaron. I am interested in this blade shape. Without considering price or sheath, would you recommend the Camp Creek or Esee JG5?
matthew armstrong I think the Tops on this size range
It's an odd looking knife, but appears to be a very functional tool.
Sick blade, but unfortunately Tops knifes seems to be a lot more expensive in Europe. Sometimes x3 in prices. Would love to add one to my collection of Tops knifes. Thanks for the review
Hopefully they will do more designs in this steel.
Looks like a great food preparation knife. I wouldn’t even put it through wood.
Looks like one heck of a slicer, and cosy whittler :)
When are u going to review the bark river bravo 2 in s35vn?
I really like the looks of that Tops Hog 4.5
I have a buck 110 made of that steel , it is really a great blade.
Really Awesome S35-VN design TopsKnive knife!!!
Please compare the Tops camp creek to the Esee 4
Sheesh, $150 for all that? Deal for sure, and yeh the neck is a bit thin, but you said it yourself it makes sense with this design, it's good for kind of a pinch grip for skinning or camp kitch, and that kydex sweet!
nice lookin blade...wish they rounded the edges on the handle some more...
I like it but all TOPS are premium. Its personal preference if one likes a particular knife.
You mention a good point. They are all premium, after that its your choice for indended purpose.
The Camp Creek or Shango XL?
Did you really just say that this knife has a beer belly? LOL
Nice vid. Metal around 1st handle bolt hole looks insubstantial though. I'll give it a miss. Keep it up. Really appreciate your thoughts. ATB from Mcr. UK
I've been waiting for this knife! Great review.
Nice review brother. Ordered one thru your bladehq link.
Modern adaptation of the Nesmuk!
Fan of the design but I don't like the colors of the scales and would rather have the blade stonewashed.
I bought one. I call it the Tops Camp Creek Nessmuk.
For firestriking. Make the choil area bigger maybe.
Great review! Informative as always! Request: please review Suvival Lilly APO-1 when u can. Know u will give it a thorough unbiased review.
What's wrong with 1095
It sucks dick
Absolutely nothing.
Great review. Keep them coming.
220 dollars for that ?
Looks very uncomfortable
I personally never liked TOPS knives because of those sh*tty nylon sheaths that come with each knife & I don't want to have to spend another $50+ or $60+ on a custom kydex sheath & $20 - $30 on a belt loop for them. Their stuff is already overpriced as it is. I might buy this one though, I like it.
Another great review
That scales are hawt.
It looks like preparedmind101 designed it.
I think tops needs to ease off the HC knives, their stainless variants sell like hot cakes
Sooo... Do ya like it or not??😀
🤘😻
Given the popularity of Ferro rods you would think a 90 degree spine would be standard. Tops missed it here what a shame.
Ferro rod are useless use a lighter
Tops still lacking in putting a sharp 90% spine on their knives, like all the grown up knife companies do.
Not all knives are all things to all people
This thing is the Tops! 😐
😳
Video is great, but the knife... meh)
You can thank Trump for bringing the metal industry back to the USA.
Bro again stop with the bullshit and sales pitches, other than that good review.
Blah blah blah
no u!
