I like it. However, I would make a change. I would make the saber grind a little closer to the cutting edge. As tall as the blade is, it adds friction as it passes through wood. It's better than a flat edge in this way, but in my opinion, it would also chunk out wood as you strike wood. It seems to want to sink into the wood and not split as well as it could.
Hey Aaron, Sorry im late to the party but wanted to ask a question. I own a Condor Bushcraft parang and Im curious if the Storm Vector would be an upgrade to the Condor?
@@gideonstactical Fantastic review man, It sounds like you “really” liked the Storm Vector. Do you consider this as a light/heavy chopper, or a light/heavy machete?
They're back in stock! Tops wants 300$, but you can find em for 199$.. I bought one even though i didnt really have the money.. i figured they're just going to go up in price.., so worst case scenario I can just resell it for a profit if the zombies dont come. 🧟♂
I was looking to purchase this knife but then I changed my mind when I seen what😅 happened to it on JOE X. The tip completely snapped off when he tapped a car window. That has got to be the weak point. So I decided to go with the Ka bar Becker bk21 kukri it's a absolute beast.
Only thing I'd say or gripe over is that I always, as a righty, carry large blades on the left hip. And carry the companion fixed and pocket knives on right. So while it could be done. The snap is facing wrong etc. But thanks for really getting into the nitty-gritty functionality. I already have the machete .230 but this is def gonna replace it!
I really like knives designed thick at the spine that narrow down at the edge with a flat or hollow ground blade. I really love these big choppers I have the condor woodbuster with a convex grind and it splits wood like a beast but I wish it were a tad bit longer like this one I might try giving it a flat v edge instead of a convex edge so I can get it even sharper.
Idk if it's just me but I dont really like that point on the tip. Really perfer parangs, bolols, and goloks with a convex edge. That edge looks really thin
El Chete all the way, (I'm thinking of getting "Cool story Bro" put on the blade of my El Chete, or maybe "I pity the fool") You know when Arnie says "Get to tha Chopper!" he was talking about the El Chete,
I had both and once I got the storm vector I sold my El Chete to a friend. The vector seems to do just a lil better but I think it's bc of the handle design honestly. Saying all that, I have never seen another knife that can chop as good as the either of them. They both are excellent choices and swing over everything else.
@@ChuckinSteel Hmmmm...I suspect you are lying, The El Chete has more blade mass, so will land more force, the handle also helps to hold on to it due to it's design, I don't think you are being honest at all,
@@Tony-dh7mz I'm lying? Man that's just shameful. Just bc I prefer a knife that you don't, you say I'm lying. I never said it didn't have more mass for chopping or anything of the nature. I said the vector does a lil better, meaning all around task for me. If you think the chete has a better grip then that's fine but I don't care for the big choil like grove at the top of the handle. I prefer the handle on the vector. If you disagree that's ok too but don't hop on calling people liars for having different preferences than you and on a knife of all things. I just prefer the vector.
@Ryan Boswood she didn't originally care for knives until we started dating since then she has really started to like them especially a Seax style knife this is one chopper she would like

1095 steel is (ough as nails steel, good edge retention, but super resistant to chips and easily the best beater steel for your money out there (I dont know if it's worth 180 dollars). However, if you breathe on it wrong it will start it rust.
Hmm. So, other than looking cool, and the micarta, what makes it worth the price, and what makes it better than a $10.00 Team, or home Depot machete when doing machete work? Honestly, these are toys. Stuff to sit on the couch and sharpen, but not for working with.
I'm always so mixed on TOPS. I like them and I think they put out a good solid product but a lot of their products seem to cater to the more over-the-top tacticool crowd instead of functional from the ground up like some other makers so it's not always my preference. (Full understanding that's an opinion and preference.) I also don't like I have to squirrel away a certificate to get warranty work done if it were so needed. That said I think where they really shine is in their larger machete sized knives. I have their Basecamp Parang and it's pretty stellar. It looks like the Storm Vector here is capable as well. One thing where they do get the thumbs up over some other makers is in their sheathes. The Storm Vector one here is very similar to the one I have on the Basecamp and I love the Kydex on a dangler.

Storm for lighter brush. Chere for heavier chopping

Never heard it called that... Old English and Old Norse always have it as Seax, as in 'say-ax' or 'sea-ax'.
