Atheist Debates - Atheism, the Null Hypothesis

Some atheists disagreed with my take on atheism as the null hypothesis, primarily on the grounds that the Null is typically associated with robust statistical analysis.
But it's the principle of the Null Hypothesis that I was referring to - and a small or empty data set is a problem for the alternative hypotheses, not the null.
