I used deck screws to hold my carpet on my boards . I bought me some stainless steel washers from my local ace hardware store and the deck screws. It worked well
So glad I saw this Ditch... I'm planning to do my bunks later this summer and I really like the angled edge idea. Just never thought about it, but it makes sense.
+Bassin NW503 lmao ya it's funny how the UA-cam community is full of kids that watch those kind of videos. Then creators make crap content just to get views. With nothing but click bait material. I'm not on UA-cam for the money and fame. I'm here to share and help out our fellow anglers!
Ya Jason is my go to for anything handy. He’s a wood worker on his spare time. He taught me recently how to replace the base boards in my house to sell! Thanks for watching!
For pressure treated wood, you’ll be better to use an acrylic primer on it. The chems in the wood can eat away at the latex back of the carpet. Pressure washing the surfaces can also help. Always best to leave a small gap at the bottom to allow water to escape.
Hey I got a TZX190 that needs new bunks. I measured the bunk dimensions and it looks to be 1.5”x4”. Regular 2x4s are 1.5”x3.5”. The bunks seem to have a very tight specific fit on the hull of the skeeter, what dimension lumber did you use and where did you get it if it was a special size? Thanks.
I have just come across you video 5 years later, I'm about to do the same to my pontoon boat trailer. How have your replacement bulks held up over 5 years? Still good?
I know im late but i have to say it Pressure treated lumber isnt for decreasing the rot ....pressure treated lumber is treated lumber is treated with a copper solution to prevent termites....
I'd grow my beard out like that, but then I'd worry about, never being able to safely use a power saw, clamps, a drill, or even a stapler. All joking aside, thanks for sharing this video. I have a boat that's been sitting for 14 years and during that time the wood bunks started calling it quits. My only option is jacking the boat off the trailer. As I'm worried it won't gracefully float off at a ramp
mine should be but one is missing and the other one is falling off. im just not sure if i need to bolt it down first and then carpet it . or approach it another way
Never use pressure treated wood and should have used contact cement to lay carpet on bunks with. Would have made a nice tight wrap. Less chance of ripping off
Ya but would keep a trailer that long before buying a new trailer. Let alone what kind of trailer don’t last long than wood? Cheap ones Thanks for the input it will help the guys with cheap trailers!

I've never seen bunk boards that were beveled on the end. What a great idea. Thanks!
Ya Jason thinks of everything! Thanks for watching!

+Bassin NW503 ya I figured this video would actually help someone and be great content. Not really into making mystery tackle box opening videos lol
If I ever do one of those, please... drive down I-5 and snap all my rods in half...

Good idea with angling the wood at 45 degrees to avoid damaging the bow.
Exactly! Thanks for watching.

Nice, thanks for this. I’m going to attempt next week. Also, isn’t “my mom’s husband” simply your stepdad? Seems like a decent guy.
i consider him father like....but i have a dad.
How much did this cost? Also what size was the drill bit you use to make the pilot holes? Thanks!
Excellent video dude. Very helpful.

doesnt matter....2x4s is what u use unless it requirs a 2x6
What size drill bit did you use?
Thanks heart vid, off to replace the bunks
My bunks to this day feel as solid like the day we installed them!
I have just come across you video 5 years later, I'm about to do the same to my pontoon boat trailer. How have your replacement bulks held up over 5 years? Still good?
Bunks holding up like the day I installed them!
How many roles of carpet did you get from Westmarine? I'm about to replace my bunks.
I bought to packs of that carpet! Thanks for watching!
Nice video bro! Step-Pops knows his shit cool to see you guys that close! Keep the videos brotha!
I know im late but i have to say it

Hahaha
I'm taking him to the MNF home opener vs the Rams. shiyod be a sad night for one of us lol
+Ditch Pickler hopefully it's you. Haha
I have the same size EZ loader for my 2008 Skeeter. Do I need one or 2 rolls of carpet?
2
Thanks so much for your prompt reply. I’m surprised and impressed I received a reply so fast. Really enjoyed your video and learned a lot!!
Ya I was on my phone when I got it lol
dude that beard though
Fucking rocks! I know.
Did you 45 the front bunks also ?
No cus you won’t be loading from the front.
have u did a Waverunner trailers bunks ?
i wish yall would have done the fenders. that part of my rebunk project coming up
Ya I was thinking about do it but they are in great shape. Should be very easy to do though. Mine are bolted down by 6 screws.
mine should be but one is missing and the other one is falling off. im just not sure if i need to bolt it down first and then carpet it . or approach it another way

You can use contact cement ,, but it doesn't allow for movement or stretch causing carpet to tear
What was cost for material?
Can I take a foot of the original size
I would assume so
Thanks for the video pretty good … btw u look like a cartoon wth that beard,
I am a cartoon and 40lbs lighter in 2020 lmao
1/2 inch deep pilot hole is plenty to start your lag screws... Absolutely no need to tape a drill bit...
Cant find that song on UA-cam. It's a good one
Is that Wildcat Lake!?
just replaced my bunks with the boat on the trailer.
what kind of carpet did you use
its mentioned in the video!
Ditch Pickler i was watching it at work with no sound
Good info. Is those woods 2x4 or 2x6?
2X4
As oppose to what some people say in the comment section Pressure treated pine is ok to use for bunks ...
I would assume any PT wood would work
@@DitchPickler Yes Sir , I agree
I’m bout to upload a 5 year review video!!!
@@DitchPickler Cool ✔
Presure treated is the worst wood you can use for bunks due to the chemicals causing oxidation and eat your boat
what wood is that?
+Mr. Ws6 it's pressure treated alder I believe. Can't honestly remember
Marine grade 2x4’s are way better. The pressured wood does rot out after a few years.Marine grade will outlast the trailer.
Ya but would keep a trailer that long before buying a new trailer. Let alone what kind of trailer don’t last long than wood? Cheap ones
Thanks for the input it will help the guys with cheap trailers!
That beard don't look real....
Killer beard
+Jon Authier thanks bro
Did you do any of the work???? :(
Ya lol did u want to watch a longer video. It’s editors for the important stuff
if your trailer is in the water, proper load, ain't no way in hell would the boat will ever make contact with the back of that angled bunk...
Way too much carpet on the bunk ends...
just be sure not to use those pressure treated boards on an aluminum boat.
Is it bad for it? Today’s pressure treated isn’t nothing like the old stuff. But I don’t own aluminum boats. Thanks for the tip!
If you want to make your own woodworking yourself just look for Woodprix website. There is all you need to make it :)
Beard is nasty
Bruh, that beard…
...dont fuck the fiberglass up
Huh?
@@DitchPickler cracked me up at the end
