Fountain pens are less scooping, and more frequent dipping. It could be that there was not enough ink at the bottom of the jar (couldn't tell how much was actually included). Very much enjoyed that chaos of that segment. 🤣 Looking Forward to your first impressions.
the wild gesticulating with the knife while talking, and wearing a Loki shirt that reads: "of course you can trust me." i am at the edge of my seat, while also leaning back as far away as i can get. you have my attention.
@@BoardGameCoI'm gonna wanna paint these. Truth be told. I'm only getting this to paint them. Do you see any issue with that ? Like its not coated with anything weird or such.
Second unboxing I’ve watched recently without your coffee. Now I’m forced to watch the other unboxing to make sure I see the coffee. See you at Origins! 😅
is there an official pronunciation somewhere where awaken realms pronounces it as grim "Cove-in" insead of "Cuv-in"? several people have pronounced it that way, but not how the actual word is pronounced.
Nice unboxing of the prototype. Ive caught a ganeplay and it looks fun and challenging. An aside, coven is pronounced like oven. So kuv-in, phonetically. ❤
Interesting to hear you praise the aesthetic of this one. I find it really, really unappealing-to the point that I'd prefer not to look at or interact with those miniatures at all. The gameplay sounds pretty interesting, with comboing character abilities. I watched one and a half playthroughs so far that make me much less excited. But if I do decide to back, it'll almost certainly be for the miniatures-free version. I also don't like the oversized, chunky miniatures. I much prefer standard sizes so that I can use them in wargames/miniatures games like Frostgrave, Five Leagues from the Borderlands, Lasting Tales, etc.
I generally like Awaken Realms boardgames (I own 3 I think), but I think their minis are all the same. Not in shape of course, since all of them are fundamentally different, but the style and amount of detail is generally the same, and I find them to be "too much". I guess all of them are sculpted by the same sculptor and the style doesn't sit with me. For example, I had huge problems to paint the character minis for Nemesis, because they had a clutter of unnecessary details. And resin doesn't make it nicer. These minis here look like a mix of Vanguard, Lords of Hellas, Nemesis, all kinda the same :/

Man I want that fountain pen

Lol, I like that contrast :)

gotta get those "over here"s under control my man!
I do hope they send that fountain pen and ink to backers too.. I'd LOVE it :D
This is the third Grimcoven unboxing I've seen and have enjoyed every person discovering the pen and ink haha.
Like many, I was super scared when you had the ink out on your beautiful gaming table. You’re living on the wildside, Mr. Radcliffe.
The art work is awesome - very atmospheric
Yes!

Lol see you there :)

Ummm....never trust me.

it seems like most reviewers I've seen have pronounced the title the same way Alex did, though I've only heard coven said like you explain c-oven

Can we please get more video of you using a fountain pen? Hilarious thank you
Lol, glad you enjoyed
Etherfields also had characters that transformed, where you changed their player board and mini, so it’s not an new AR idea 😊
fair point :)
Kings of Ruin has it too
Thats the second video where I have seen someone get injured from the miniatures in this game lol. With that said, take my money.
Lol, spiky minis :)
Those miniatures look 10 out of 10
They're pretty awesome.
It looks amazing. But does it play well. I wonder if it fills a gap in my collection. Looking forward to seeing more impressions.
It looks great and I am very interested. Because buying games for the aesthetics has worked so well for me in the past?!.......Tainted Grail😮
damn it. I was going to pass on this but now I may change my mind-the minis look fantastic
Grim-coven is very similar to Gloom-haven… Coincidence? Nah
That is quite the stretch…
I'm with Chunk on this :)
@@BoardGameCo That was also the first association I had.

Never mind. Alex messing around with the ink bottle made up for the lack of coffee ✍️
Lol happy to help :)
The smaller board is the solo player board
I'd take the non-miniature version... but then they don't have the dual-layered boards with that version.
But the addons will be sold to you, just you wait!
Couldn't watch the part with the ink / paint - If you'd split that on your table !!!!
Lol it was a lot to manage
last thing I know is another campaign game...but darn if this doesnt hit a lot of cool notes for me artwise.
It’s not a campaign game
And you don’t know what it is if you are thinking it is a campaign game.
Which it is not, so therefore, you don’t know.
@@chunkcurtis85 I meant Need, not know.
@@rb4551 Same thing holds true, it’s not a campaign game, which you think/thought it was
The colourscheme is too dark. It will be hard to read.
Would anyone know if this one will be available later on retail?
Probably as AR has a deal with Asmodee these days so no more looking for a publisher for each game.
It will be, but without the minis
AS per the campaign site,
the only way to get the one with the minis is to pledge
The retail version with standees only will be retail
The art looks cool but a lot of those boards definitely look oversized.
The minis barely fit on the spots, so if anything they need to be slightly larger lol...
