Looks like you got yourself a small business! ;) Figure out how to make such product, then sell to vending machine owners or even shop owners with vending machine in their store.
I've seen multiple videos of this vending machine area, I think the mystery boxes are mainly for the tourists because its always the tourists who go there and buy them, only to be disappointed by having Daiso items inside at a serious mark-up. One video I saw there was a group of tourists and they were warned by a local that the boxes were basically a scam.
Tourist trap and, to be honest, probably a money laundering operation. Cash-only + no specific stock means an easy way for organized crime to wind up with clean, taxed money.
This was such a clever business idea. Set up shop with unusual floor plan and creepy ambiance, fill machines with cheap and unrelated items, wrap some in paper with nonsensical stories, never explain any of it, and profit. I think this shop was designed to create an urban legend or give tourists a fun story to tell back home. I love it. 100% would visit and buy daiso candy in a creepy mystery box

that is so creepy! It shouldnt be, its just vending machines, but the atmosphere is like one of those liminal spaces. especially the really tight squeeze.
I might certainly check expiration dates on products from these machines. Something tells me they aren't used much at all and those food items may have been in there a long time.
From all the variety of videos of vending machines in Japan that I have seen, they are a well used product in their society. They are a dating event, a teach the children event, travel to them event, and find variety event. One of my favorites was the cakes in a can. And of course, all the great meals. Even their travel ships have rooms of vending machines for the travelers, with microwaves provided. I would certainly not worry about dates on the products in Japan.
This has become a pretty popular tourist stop over the years so the food gets refreshed fairly often. You're really paying for the weirdness of it all. Fun spot for some Instagram photos I suppose. It's in Akihabara if anyone wants to go looking for it. The signs mostly tell people to not leave graffiti, don't pee on the ground and that your make out session may be caught on camera. Lol!
Ah we have these things called "Kurzgeschichten" (short stories) her in Germany on calendars they can be fictional or any genre they must be short kinda like the once on yiur snacks fascinating
This store is in Akihabara, near the Mansei Building, plenty of Japan-based UA-camrs have visited it before. The creepy pasta short story on the biscuit package is to discourage people from buying it normally, and only meant for emergency use. The canned yakitori has been charitably described by some UA-camrs who tried it as "dog food" 🤣
It's interesting to know this vending machine is real and still there. I remember seeing it in a video a few years ago, but thought I might've made it up since it's been so long

Mike Chen went to this place a few years back and he thought it was weird and creepy. I'm inclined to agree with him! I'm all about Japanese vending machines, but I think I'd pass on this shop.
And when Mike went that popcorn machine was out of order too! Lol
2:32 to 2:36 i found that biscuit in conv store for about $5.33 [5 dollar 33 cents] , also found at amazon US for $14.99 [1.76 oz. or 50g] so ...what the heck are you talking about?
a mystery box should have the same value money a customer spend maybe with a slim margin of error of rounding down e.g. item that is in the box value $5.11, one only pay the mystery box of $5
if not; that is considered a scam and report able to law enforcement
Ich bin aus Deutschland und finde es immer sehr interessant und entspannend deine Videos anzusehen. Ich freue mich schon darauf die ganzen Sachen auszuprobieren wenn ich mal dort bin. Danke
When I’m watching the dancing Bacons, I catch my Thai husband watching over my shoulder. I think he gets homesick for Asia seeing these. 🥰🙏🏻😉💞
Honestly it's just a giant scam, I've seen so many of these and it's always the same bs items. I guess it's a fun for videos and pictures.
The canned strawberry muffin actually looks pretty good
that is so creepy! It shouldnt be, its just vending machines, but the atmosphere is like one of those liminal spaces. especially the really tight squeeze.
I might certainly check expiration dates on products from these machines. Something tells me they aren't used much at all and those food items may have been in there a long time.
I think the place is meant to look rundown. It seems like a place made specifically for tourists or content creators to post vids about.
@@kathleenhannigan2487 The cake in a can look soooo good!!🥰🤗
@@kathleenhannigan2487 Yes, the cakes in a can look so good! What an interesting idea.
Lol!
I was hoping the entire time that he'd buy a ball. Ending was so satisfying. :)
Ah we have these things called "Kurzgeschichten" (short stories) her in Germany on calendars they can be fictional or any genre they must be short kinda like the once on yiur snacks fascinating
This seems like an art installation
This store is in Akihabara, near the Mansei Building, plenty of Japan-based UA-camrs have visited it before. The creepy pasta short story on the biscuit package is to discourage people from buying it normally, and only meant for emergency use. The canned yakitori has been charitably described by some UA-camrs who tried it as "dog food" 🤣
best one for a while.. this was great. very weird! :D
It seems you've done this before a few years ago, also in Japan. I remember that video where you got the beetle at this creepy shop.
It's interesting to know this vending machine is real and still there. I remember seeing it in a video a few years ago, but thought I might've made it up since it's been so long
I've seen this shop featured in a few other videos, but yours was definitely the most interesting. I'd be as nervous as a longtail cat in a room full of rocking chairs in such narrow spaces, though!
Loved the video. Hope you get the beetle next time and enjoy the blue ball until then.
I love how vending machines in America just drop the stuff your buying, but the Japanese ones have a little platform that Carrie’s it down gently
The mystery boxes are a good example of the phrase 'curiosity killed the cat' - totally not worth the price!
You should never eat a vending machine.
😀
