15 years later still gives me the same goosebumps like it was yesterday… just amazing this guy
He's pushed this instrument to its absolute limit. Amazing.
I love when some person appears, and shows the world how far an underrated instrument can be taken.
This is outstanding.
I saw him play in hawaii on '03 alone at the Aloha Tower pier and he blew everyone away!
I love how he plays music. He doesn't just use his hands and arms but his whole body... his whole being >0< it's awesome.
He is a great guy. He always smiles when he is not playing
its like he has ten THOUSAND fingers
+MarkMason Susee why is this so damn hilarious
MarkMason Susee he only needs one, maybe two depending which woman he's with
He is just amazing. Who knew that a ukulele could sound like this?
Who knew a uke could sound like that!
Check out taimane.
And also
Honoka and azita
i eat shit. thats it. :)
Unreal talent
Seriously amazing!!! I just started playing and I can barely get my fingers across a few frets. Jake has awesome talent without a doubt!!!!
I like how Jake's playing sounds as if there were more than one musician in the room. Even after viewing this so many times, I'm still just like . . . wow.
Even though it's been 7 years since I first saw this, it still blows my mind every single time.
And what about now ? 😉
So many tecnics in one music, insane skill!
There is a Spanish guy somewhere in the world going "What the hell?"
Hahaha xD
😂🤣😂
I love the response of the interviewer at the end ! Says it all really . This guy is unbelievable and is responsible for me firstly taking up guitar and now recently the Uke too .
I'm an aspiring musician. so, if anyone has seen OnePunch-MAN, im the guy the leaves the Hero tests after seeing Saitama.
Still love this
I was expecting David Bowie's song haha :)
Same!
I LOVE his performance. You can tell he loves playing. He gets so into it!
WOW FRANKU
there are 163 jelous people who clicked dislike because the don't like the feeling of being so unbelievably shamed out by the talent of Jake Shimabukuro
bruce Lee on Ukelele, lol This kid has strong kunf fu
Oh I get it you thought I was referring to his ethnicity! Wrong dude. nope bc I absolutely love Bruce Lee and honestly this kids kung fu is very strong! I could ask you the same thing about your wack ass screen name. Mr. Vagina Inspector! Time for a new pair of correction glasses if your eye sight is that bad! Oh thats right! your name is sexist! back at ya. Good luck with future inspections...
thats racist omg
he plays it with compassion.. and the sound is amazing.. its real cool
2011. Still listening. Still appreciating.
I never ever get sick of this video.
Earl Scruggs is a banjo player that revolutionized the way people listin to the banjo. He is now 80+ years old!!!! but before him people thought of the banjo as an instrument in the circus or comedy. now its one of the main sounds in bluegrass and lots more.
Jake is the same way with his instrument!!
I can't wait to hear what comes next.
I could listen to this guy for hours
It starts difficult, the middle is difficult and the end is difficult, too.
Jake Shimabukuro, you're a god.
The rock and roll of ukulele! Gotta love this man he kicks ASS!!
Musicianship.
So very worthwhile.
Tom Loughlin Jr, Utica NY
WOW Again and again and again and EVER! This is so amzing. I like the feel of this song and the way he express it. Bravo Jake! WOW !!
Just picked up a uke and having a blast. My classical guitar is in a case against the wall while I take my uke with me to the beach, to the hammock, to the park... I was in Guitar Center this weekend and they had a ukulele display, of all things - and two people were in the process of buying ukes. They were selling ukuleles in my CostCo of all places - and these were decent Kohala concert ukes. I think ukuleles are the fun, social instrument and am glad to see them becoming so popular.
love the reaction of the host at the end.. WOW indeed!
Whoa this is absolutely amazing.
If the world was full of Jake Shimabukuro's, it would be a good place....
I bought a Ukulele after watching Jake play, no joke! The most inspirational musician I have seen in a long time, I have been lucky enough to see him play once while working for the Today show where he played alongside Tommy Emmanuel (and made Tommy look like he was second "fiddle")...not only is he an amazing musician, but also a VERY down to earth guy!
This boy makes me cry and blows my heart right open!
Jake has talent and genius and spirit and heart...love it.
Today...I fell inlove with music
Thank god for Jake Shim. He gives the ukulele playing world some mega balls.
I'm seeing him in Newark in April! Can't wait!

His best version EVER !!!
I think i felt my hands go numb just from watching him....
This guy is insanely good.
this guy is such an incredible musician. I think musicians of all instruments can learn quite alot from his playing
It's almost certainly a Kamaka, the finest uke makers on the planet. My parents went on vacation to Hawaii 40 years ago and brought one back and it was a beauty.
hooooly shiiiiiiiiiiit! i can't believe that was just him, about half way through i was thinking his finger tapping was a drum or something it was all harmonised amazing!
What a talented artist :)
i like his music so much that every time i watch anything of his i rate excellent lol
yeah.......
@DotzomgFearz yea it is, and for all those who keep asking what type of ukulele thumbs this up.
Custom Kamaka(brand) Tenor(size) Ukulele
full curly koa body
rosewood bindings,
i think the neck is also koa,
bridge and frets are ebony,
that sweet looking headstock is a slotted-style headstock.
with integrated fishman acoustic matrix amp outlets.
i'm sure he goes through many strings so i can't say anything about that.
goes for 5grand.
the word "incredible" is all that comes to mind.
Saw him last night, amazing
I went to school with this guy! hahaahaha!!!! I didn't realize how talented he was...back then! He always played the uke! Better than me!!!
You are amazing…❤
amazing simply amazing.
the ammount of work he must have put in must be at minimum 10,000+
and then the ditance between the strings and he can still make such an awesome song.
2021 still lovely
Amaaaaaazinggggg!!!!!!!
You rock Jake! WOW!
he is one of the reasons why i have buy my ukulele ^^
Mesmerizing...as usual.
Fantastic!!
Phenomenal playing and technique!
I love that technique he does at the beginning where he like strums all the strings with his fingers in the like first 20 second of the song. i so wish I could do that
amazing! The king of kings!
Absolutely amazing!
very impressive. great rhythm.
Honestly if this guy lived in the 15th Century....we'd all still be listening to his music. The MASTERS would have WORSHIPED HIM. Then again...he might have been burned at the stake for being possessed by the DEVIL. What a gift to us all....for us all. WOW!
Jaw dropping. Seriously.
Sooooo nice to listen to. You have SUCH talent!
Got to meet him tonight after his concert in Bremerton, got pretty flipping tongue tied for the first 3 seconds. Still, he's an awesome guy

Tenerife, Spain, Africa.
The Spanish word for ukulele is 'timple', and here we use a more traditional version (sometimes with an extra fifth string, sometimes with the usual four) than the Hawaiian innovation.
I bet this Jake Shimabukuro would be interested in checking out Spanish players like Benito Cabrera.
Very nice work, Jake.
You should come here for a visit to check out older styles.
There are thousands of good timple-players here on this small island.
Best wishes,
Solstice.
