- In the final episode of our present series of Art in Isolation series Philip - with son Oliver behind the iPhone - takes a look at affiliated Bloomsbury group artist Simon Bussy. We have loved sharing these with you. We hope they have offered a little relief during lockdown and look forward to returning very soon with curated films of your wonderful offerings of self-portraits next to art works in isolation.
I saw this in 2023 after I started viewing more episodes of Fake and Fortune. And I must say, I really enjoy watching these isolation videos. A good story never grows old, it seems. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
It’s amazing what you can do with knowledge, good manners and an iPhone...
I can't believe the pace you are churning out theese fantastic videos. Such a treat to enjoy.
Lovely to see father and son creating together.
So pleased that you've enjoyed the series.
Delightful and informative. Thank you for showing aspects of your home. It is certainly a work of art in its own right. Aged 77, having spent over half my life in South Africa, it is joyous to see the English heritage alive and well, and recall authors and associated places. Many thanks.
Thank you so much for these lovely inspirational video’s🙏🏽☺️🍳
So enjoyable! Thank you Philip, thank you Oliver.
Have enjoyed this series. Just the right dose each day!
Heartbroken...the last one. Thanks for getting us through the present problems with more knowledge than we started out with, hopefully so we can visit galleries with a more discerning eye. May I make a small boast here as I was the first to view No. 20 on UA-cam!!
Thank you for your kind words.
This series is just the best can’t thank you enough!
Thank you for your support.
Philip and Olivier...thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand fold over thank you. I am sitting here in California somewhat bereaved to hear the words...this is the last in our series. However, there is hope flickering upon my limited horizon in that you promise to hold forth again SOON with another series plot! See that you keep you word as I eagerly await your return! May the force of the Covid be waning.
Thank you so much for sharing your insight, knowledge and delightful paintings.
Namaste Philip. My husband and I have been watching the "Fake or Fortune" episodes for the past couple of weeks or so. I recently came across this series and have watched all the episodes continuously since then. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home and your wonderful, magical artworks which make the problems of the last few months so petty and far away. The fact that there is still so much beauty in peace (old and new :-) ) in the world makes it worthwhile to be living in an age when we can have the most beautiful masterpieces enveloping us with their warmth right in our homes. Thank you so much, Philip and thank you Oliver. Love and Light from India.
I shall miss these delightful bursts of art history. It has been a pleasure to listen. Thank you for producing them.
Thank you for joining us.
This thoughtful and delightful series has kept me feeling engaged and hopeful in a difficult time. I can’t wait for the next chapter. Thank You thank you.
Thankyou you Philip and Oliver,I have truly enjoyed
I'll miss this series, which has raised my spirits again and again over the last few weeks. I look forward to whatever is coming next! Thank you.
So pleased that you've enjoyed the series!
In a house of extraordinary and clearly much loved 'treasures' I think i like these two stunning portraits more than anything. They would have pride of place in my office! Thanks so much for this series
Back to a boring breakfast without Art in Isolation. I am looking forward to the new series. I have enjoyed travelling to the English countryside virtually, as it is unlikely to happen in reality this year. Living in New Zealand we lack the ease of exposure to art and experts like Philip Mould, hence it has been a great pleasure to watch the series and the much loved dog and chickens!
Thank you Philip and Oliver, a superb series. I was both transfixed and fascinated.
Lovely series. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing all the beauty 🎨
I sincerely add my many, many thanks to the mountain of people of have obviously enjoyed immensely the time you have so kindly
shared with us.
And thank you to yr son for filming. Well done.
I have only recently discovered this series and it has been a thrilling journey through your art collection. I have learned so much and can't thank you enough for being so honest, open and down to earth whilst allowing us into your private life. I could watch these forever.
Greetings from the Rocky Mountains! I have only just discovered this series and it has been a great pleasure. Our state is currently in the midst of a "soft open" to restart our economy, and my own family has been self-isolating since our schools closed mid-March. The virus isn't going anywhere unfortunately so we are still immersed in maintaining social distancing as much as possible. This program was a marvelous brainchild of yours and I am sad that it has come to a close. Thank you for generously opening your home to us and sharing your personal passion with art. I want to call you professor you have taught me so much.
A bit sad that the Bussy portraits of the Stracheys have passed out of the family, but it is wonderful to know that they found a home with someone who will love them.
Watching the entire series again a year later. Thank you for this gift Philip🌹
Thank you for the 20 programs and looking forward to the compilation of photos.
But, please, please, keep doing something! We all so appreciate your presence and insight.
We will be uploading the compilation very soon!
Thank you so much Philip Mould for your wonderful videos which I first watched in 2020 and am now watching again in a desert area of South Africa. Please do more if possible. They speak to my heart.
Thank you, I had saved the episodes to savour them in a slower pace. Much appreciated.
I realized my dream of a Bloomsbury Group pilgrimage in East Sussex a couple of weeks ago, and it was fun and even more edifying to revisit your videos this evening. Thank you for providing the needed sustenance and inspiration of visual art during lockdown!
Thankyou Philip for sharing your wonderful series I will be looking forward to the next series.
Keep safe. Art nurtures our souls 🎨
Thank you Philip and Oliver for giving us smiles and knowledge in dark times. See you both in your new version!
From in isolation in a tiny village - one mile square and spitting distance to Manhattan-ThANK YOU. I loved hearing about all yr art in yr home. I now realize that we have quite a bit of portraiture in our house. Grammy as a sketch study and the bronze as she was a muse to a German sculptor as a 17 year old, myself at ages 5,12 and 20. I suppose my mother wanted a snapshot. My own children as teenagers and so funny as one was suffering from hay fever and the artist got that too. Love Charleston Farm. As a 40th birthday present my husband took me to Chelsea and to tour gardens. I dragged him to Charleston Farm on a rainy day when alas they were closed. But the lady was so sweet and offered to give us a personal tour. Grammy, the muse painted. I have her paintings. And I too paint and create party tiaras as a fun thing to do. Wild flowers on the sides and someone’s house in the middle crescendoing upwards. A giggle and molto fun to do especially in isolation.
Thank you! Very much appreciated and enjoyed.
From Ontario, Canada, thank you so very much Mr. Mould (and to Oliver as well) for your splendid knowledge and truly entertaining programs "Art in Isolation". I've watched all twenty episodes, some more than once. What an inspired idea you had in producing this for all of us during this time. At least, if we are isolated, and staring at walls, it's wonderful to see the beautiful paintings you have hanging on them. .
Those two little portraits of the Strachey children are so beautiful - I can totally see why you love them. And so contemporary looking with the plain backgrounds! 'Velvety' is such a perfect way to describe the quality of the medium. And how insightful of you, Philip, to say that the little girl 'might be trouble'!
Thankyou Phillip and Oliver. It’s been a real pleasure to get to know more about you, too, after enjoying “Fake or Fortune” and to see you in your own delightful home with it’s inspiring art collection. I admire your creativity in putting these short, insightful episodes together with what seems like a minimum of fuss and a very short list of credits! Well done, from Geelong in Victoria, Australia
Thank you, Anne.
I have really enjoyed every episode! Beautifully done.....like a mini art history lesson. Just a wonderful treat! Thank you for doing them.
Thank you so much for this beautiful series, for sharing your knowledge, your love of art with us! I thoroughly enjoyed every episode of it.
Your place is so cozy
Yes these have been very enjoyable and entertaining thank you
This has been a fantastic series, not only enlightening and knowledgeably presented, but with a calmness and peacefulness we all need right now. Tell your son the filming from his iPhone is incredible . I told my 96 year old mom about this series and she is hooked! It has been great for us to discuss each segment over the phone and has inspired me to paint religiously every day in my cold but cozy mountaintop art shack during this isolation . thank you from NH, USA (and love your dog too!)
Thrilled to hear that you and your family are enjoying the series!
@@philipmouldco4360 I too have caught up the past two nights seeing your films. Thank you so much to you and your son for allowing us into your home and sharing your art. Again many thanks. Sofia Engelke San Antonio Texas.
Thank you so much Phillip & Oliver. I have enjoyed your almost daily episodes about Art from Duck End. It has been wonderful to have these delightful snippets about the paintings in the house. (and what an interesting house it is) each day. I look forward to the next offering you are preparing for us. Thank you again from our beautiful place on Tamborine Mountain Queensland.
More than entertaining ! A wonderful series. Thank you Philip and Oliver.
Greatly appreciated Thankyou Philip
This series has become an important part of how I enjoy my time in isolation....I look forward to your upcoming series.
Thank you so much, this series has been an oasis of calm during these troubled times. I’m going to watch them all again!
So pleased that you've enjoyed the Art in Isolation series.
Thank you so much Philip and Oliver ...what a joy your series has been in these strange times .Looking forward to the next chapter .
I have enjoyed your series very much
I can’t wait to see your new series! These have been brilliant! You are a nation treasure! ❤️
Thank you for such a wonderful series. Oliver's editing and camerawork is superb - you make a great team.
Thank you. It was simply lovely.
Oh no....not the last ....please more ....👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻more 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hello from Sussex, New Jersey USA. Love your show and thank you for giving us a glance into your beautiful home. Your voice is so calming in this troubled time. Thank you for giving us a place of solace, escape, and culture. Stay well.
I've so enjoyed watching these, thank you Philip and Oliver! :-)
Watching from Copenhagen, Denmark.
I have followed you and Fiona for years but only today, May 14th., I found this little wonderful series of yours. And absolute delight! I love your passion and detailed interpretations of your art!
Also, what an amazing old fine mansion..! I do not dare to spekulate on, what restoration and keeping of such a house would set you back.
Be safe.
I hope you'll take this as a compliment; that's how I mean it: Your comfortable fluidity between erudition and humble hominess reminds me of the great Alistair Cooke, the British-American journalist, narrator, and presenter. I enjoy your series immensely and hope it is the beginning of yet another of your great, long-running endeavors. Thank you for expanding our world in isolation!
Thank you very much for sharing your passion for art and probably not so much for isolation. Kudos to Oliver for framing such interesting shots with a phone! Amazing (at least to me).
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement.
Thank you so much Philip, Oliver and Cedric. These have been fabulous and it's also been a joy watching your talents as filmmakers develop.
I’ve loved every minute and as a try-hard artist have absorbed all your tips and observations. Besides that, I have loved the lively stories behind the paintings, artists and scenes and sitters. It’s been a precious interlude during the depressing lockdown, warding off loneliness and making me happy here in South Africa. Thank you both so much.
Very grateful to your family for all the loveliness you have shared. I am going to rearrange our family portraits and enjoy them even more now. Excited about the next project. Many thanks!
Thank you both, very much.
We want more!....We want more!......Thank you so much!.
Many thanks on behalf of my wife and I, it's been a joy to watch. We appreciate the time you've taken to prepare each episode, and to Oliver for the filming, and the creative editing of the material. No small matter I imagine. Thank you both again. We are looking forward to the new show!
We've enjoyed bringing you these videos - thrilled that you've enjoyed them.
Dear Mr Mould. It is being a so fantastic experience!!! Thanks so much for sharing your art and your appreciation for beauty and history.
Waiting for new additions to this channel. All the best from Spain.
Super bad withdrawal symptoms in this household with the end of your series of Art in Isolation. It’s been wonderful to share your collection and indeed your most charming and characterful home in Gloucestershire. One day, many months into the future I suspect, I will meet up again with Cedric travelling on the No.9 bus to St James’s !
Thankyou for sharing your paintings and home with us Philip and Olivier. Fantastic series
Just finding this series and binge watched all the episodes. Loved the whole idea and presentation. Hope you both continue to produce another wonderful series of programmes.
Beautiful portraits. That moment lives on. My history teachers never used art to explain periods in the past - which is a real shame because portraits or other works show us history first hand - from a witness. So wonderful.
Watching your films through this anxious time has kept my spirits high. Thank you a million times for giving us all your time. Your lovely descriptions and explanations have furthered my knowledge and I’ve been inspired to root out my old paintbox and brushes. I’ve really looked forward to watching each day.
Take care until your next adventure is revealed....but hurry, we are all bereft without you and Oliver and Cedrick!
We are so thrilled that the series has lifted your spirits!
Thank you so much for this delightful and informative series. I have looked forward to and enjoyed each episode. Too late to send in the picture of myself with my favourite picture, which is a screen print of Mt Taranaki by New Zealand artist, Michael Smither.
I have been so buoyed by this wonderful series. The films have become for me like chapters of a book read before bedtime - I so look forward to them each day! Thank you so very much for introducing me to many artists with whom I was unfamiliar and for sharing your lovely home with all of us.
This has been informative, fascinating and uplifting. I could never call it “entertainment “. Your process of explanation and story telling has a rich spiritual quality. It’s been a joy.
I am a professional artist. I do not usually watch art videos. But I LOVE yours! I stumbled onto Fake or Fortune and watched most of those, then stumbled onto your Art in Isolation videos. I'm sorry I didn't get to watch them when I was in isolation - I would have had more time. Well, maybe. I spent a lot of time painting. So well done to you - I just can't get enough. SOOO much more interesting than my art history classes back at university.
These are the only things I have been watching online...I have been hooked. I’m an artist and a real novice at art history - I don’t feel I can express properly how much I have loved this series you and Oliver have produced for us. It has been so very accessible in every way; intellectually, historically, personably.....you feel so approachable through this sharing of your world and knowledge that I would say ‘hi’ to you both in the street ! And I hide so I intend that as a compliment! I feel like I would also be welcome in your gallery....a place for me I wouldn’t have thought I’d be comfortable in. I value this highly and I thank you both greatly....PS I think the ‘Call to Camera’ is total icing on a fabulous cake - I just love seeing all these people and their precious art and how lovely it is to see it celebrated in such a wonderful way....I tell you....I’m hooked....Thankyou both 🤗
Can hardly wait for the new series hurry hurry
Thank you Philip....I have thoroughly enjoyed your sharing of your knowledge of art! Thanks to Oliver too!
Lovely. Love pastel as a medium. The chameleon is wonderful.
If you're interested in the work of Simon Bussy, we are currently hosting an exhibition which includes a number of his works: philipmould.com/exhibitions/18-squares-circles-triangles-the-bloomsbury-group-a-selling-exhibition/
Just watched this series again. Marvellous. Thank you so much.
.... epic lugubriousness
This series has been bliss to watch , hope there will be more to come
Excellent series, looking forward to your future postings.
Loved every minute of your presentations and very much look forward to more!
Oh no we have two more weeks to go in Melbourne. With all the galleries closed this has been fascinating - and a generous gesture thank you. Looking forward to the new guise - Uncovered in isolation??
So sad this has ended but thank you so much for inviting us in to your beautiful home and sharing your wonderful collection, on a side note if you have time when things get back to normal would you give us a small tour of the house and surrounds with maybe a little more history of the place.
Will miss these. Thank you for what you've done.
Nice to see these and hear Philip again.
Oh ! I’ve loved these- can’t wait for a spin off
Only found your vlogs on Sunday 7th feb 2021 and have watched all of series 1 in Isolation, thank you thank you all episodes were so beautiful and soothing to watch I am hooked.
Such an interesting programme and choice of art. Helped get me through the lockdown. I grew up in North Wales so the Kyffin W oil was fun. Now live and paint in Cape Town. Congrats to your son on his careful photography too! Elinor Carleton Smith 😊
....fantastic work, boys! Can't wait for more! You are playing a huge role in helping us all get through this mess and I, as I am sure everyone here is, am truly grateful for all the hard work and passion! Stay healthy!
They are very nice portraits no doubt about it - you have a keen eye for the slightly quirky and interesting - I suppose all good things must come to an end but I’m looking forward to whatever’s next - I found a real ‘scroll stopper’ last night on a local auction site which is in a similar vein to these.
Thanks for all the vids I’ve really enjoyed them.
I love your programs. Thank you for doing this.
I'm so grateful for these art reviews.
I'm really sad this is the final episode of the current series but look forward to the new format! With many thanks to you and to Oliver for making these works of art 'live'.
Thank you both for a most entertaining time I hope it's not to long before we see you again 😔👀👌👏👏👏👏👏
Oh I'll miss this so much
Wonderful series set in such a beautiful location. Thank you.
Thank you so much for showing a work in pastels! It is my favorite medium to work in. I heard it was kind of looked down upon as a medium in comparison with oils on canvas or panel. Just over the moon that it is in a fine art collection. I am a bit sad (more than a little) that you are ending these videos, but am so grateful to you and your son for making them in the first place. May the Lord bless all of your efforts in the future. Wishing you and your family love and peace.
