I remember watching these with my grandmother. Brings back memories
My mom's favorite guy in her favorite TV series. RIP Mom, and Rory.
💥 The 50’s Westerns 🇺🇸 Doesn’t Get Better Than That💥
I remember this show well. Total nostalgia here.
Thanks man I had not seen this in over 60 years. As a 4 year old, used to pile the couch cushions atop one another so I could ride tall in the saddle like The Texan. Mother would warm my ass good.
Thank you for the show wish we still had them now days, hope you can show more of them,
Neville brand was one of my favorite character actors
Surprising, original plot. Look forward to the rest of the series. Thanks Shout!
Rory is always great. I don't get tired watching him.
You bet!
Yep Neville Brand was a Gr8 Actor
He played along side " The Duke " in Cahill . And Jon Wayne didn't just allow any one in his movies .
Pretty sure Brands was somehow related 2 X - BRANDS who played along side Jock Mahoney.
And Rory Calhoun was just fabulous. Pity he didn't make more westerns
Originally aired September 29, 1958 per IMDB.
Rory Calhoun terrific. The drama and sensational music mood terrific. More talent packed into this 25 minutes than all the movies of today.
Rory Calhoun -- every lion tamer's favorite male actor!
They don't make them like that anymore....wish we had decent shows to watch😊
Yup

"The Texan" brought to you by Viceroy cigarettes. Steve McQueen did some Viceroy cigarette commercials back in the day. I wonder if one of his commercials was on this episode when it first aired on September 29, 1958?
"'THE TEXAN', starring RORY CALHOUN, is presented by ViCEROY. *VICEROY CIGARETTES!* 'A Thinking Man's Filter- A Smoking Man's Taste'!"
Usually, Rory would appear in a Viceroy "tag" at the end of the episode {"You know, I don't often think about cigarettes when I smoke. It's different with Viceroy! It's true- Viceroy has a thinking man's filter, and a smoking man's taste. I enjoy what I smoke- and what I smoke, is Viceroy! *You* think about it.....and get a pack of Viceroy."}.
I kind of remember the reruns when I was a young kid in the early sixties didn't know Sergeant Carter acted in westerns in the early years
Where was Frank Sutton in this?
That was Neville Brand playing 'Kyle Richards'.
Per IMDB, however, Sutton did appear in Western TV shows and films prior to _Gomer Pyle._
Examples:
1963 - Temple Houston
1963 - Death Valley Days
1961 - 62 - Gunsmoke (3 episodes)
1962 - Have Gun, Will Travel
He also did The Twilight Zone, Untouchables, The Fugitive, Combat, Route 66, The Detectives, The Defenders, and scores of other credits back to Captain Video and his Video Rangers in 1949.
Great show!
This is a great show, thank you very much Shout Factory, you're truly the best.
Tremendous. Thanks so much.
wonderful!. rory was the best. If you can upload the full season 1 and 2, that would be great. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I visited Bahia Blanca Argentina in 1993 while deployed on USS Whidbey Island LSD 41 in support of UNITAS 34-93...
This is awesome! More more more, please!
Suspenseful! 🎉
Can't help but wonder if Neville Brand had to use Chloraseptic and rest his throat for a while after perfroming an episode of Laredo, considering what his real voice sounded like. Seems like his 'Reese" voice would have been kinda hard on the ol' voice box.
I believe I saw this episode when I was growing up
Early Sixties...🐎. when would see all western series...Soo many to count...🤠
The magic of reruns. This first aired Sept. 29, 1958.
2023 started watching rawhide im glad I found it rip
I wonder if The Texan and The Restless Gun ever crossed paths ? They would not have argued about who was "the fastest", but maybe about who had the higher ratings
John Larch as Torbert. I saw him just y'day in From Hell to Texas.
What great story's this series are thankyou ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Who did the music? I loved it!
Me too. It's terrific. Contributes A LOT to the dramatic tension.
All of us kids with our cap guns practicing the Draw in Late 50,s either wanted to be Rory Cahoun or Vic Morrow Sgt Saunders in Combat everyone whose parents let them watch Combat [about 12] Viet Nam in my Neighborhood came back alive
I just finished the series .... there are some interesting guest stars and familiar faces that show up .... a good show.
Good movie....
Neville Brand, taking a break from Al Capone
Wow, he's a youngster in this
The first time I ever saw Rory Calhoun he was hunting human prey on Gilligan's Island.
Big names playing extras
Watched all the westerns 60 odd years ago, wagon train,Cisco and pancho, range rider, have gun will travel, and many more with my father,GREAT TIME 🦨🇬🇧
The only one that you mentioned was wagon train l remember l don't think the others aired in England.
@2:08 Longley: "I asked you a question, where can i find les torbert"
Immediately, the barkeep hotfoots it outta there... nice
Great, old school rules
Pro-Tip Trivia: The South Park character of Eric Cartman was based on the fat-man character named Kyle Richards in this episode of The Texan.
Is his Horse the well known "Dice"
These kind of shows really reflect the truth of people. The psychos rule the roost. Except there are no happy endings. This is called hope on a stick, held out in front of you..
Vultures waiting for death.
👏👏
What a jerk was that Kyle!
Ava 🐻 likes starting a new western series. There aren’t many of them she hasn’t seen.
Meanwhile she said she is going to be a good girl for Christmas 🎄. And that she is full of the Christmas spirit and the spirit of giving and sharing. I hope she doesn’t get a lump of coal in her stocking and that Santa can still see her on Christmas Eve. Even though he’s very busy. I tried to warn her.
😳
❤👌
Like it's show he so cute
0:25 When Rory's first wife sued Calhoun for divorce, she named Betty Grable as one of 79 women with whom he had adulterous relationships. Calhoun replied to her charge: "Heck, she didn't even include half of them". Just maybe, not something to be proud of.
Every MAN has a bit of Wilt Chamberlin in them ! 😊😀😃 .
Christ, why Not. I stopt counting at 222 at the age of 21y.
Favor dublar.👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yea definitely don't make them like that anymore.
Ppl❤
R.c.was a switch hitter
You had sex with him?
But the Texan killed two of their towns' boys, and now they forgot about them?
Stalag 17
A RAWHIDE MOVIE???
Don’t tell me what the movie is about I prob don’t want to watch it..
If you want subscribers post rory Calhoun not comic characters.
Calhoun was a third rate actor. He was absolutely crap.
I beg to differ, Rory Calhoun was first rate in this series and very handsome.
@chbq You ain't got no judgment Not the slightest clue
I remembervNEVILLE BRAND from the LAREDO. SERIES.
