Yes. Modern entertainers just don't have the same touch. People today don't have that simplicity anymore, they don't have the same style wit, plus they all have the mistakened flaws of thinking that more and louder is better, the need for in your face exaggerations, and that clean humor doesn't work anymore and always feel the need for sexual innuendos and gross-out humor
@@scottrussell1006 yes, they're all great. I love Groucho Marx, there's never been anyone else like him. Chico also. Them and L&H, those 4 guys were the very best of all the Golden age comedy. The Three stooges, W.C. Feilds, and silent comedy kings Charlie Chaplin and Keaton were not far behind, not at all
most of their films sums them up perfect timing and laughs galore wish they were still here making us fans non stop laughter hope Stan and Ollie r happy where they are god bless
There are Buster Keaton, WC Fields, Abbott and Costello, Chapman and many others. John Cleese said he preferred WC FIelds over all the rest, including L&H.
Jack Barty was a very versatile British stage actor and writer. Stan and Babe visited the UK in 1932 and saw Barty on the stage. Hardy suggested he should go to Hollywood, which he did, and joined Roach, almost totally as a writer. This is the only Roach film he appeared in, and his main Laurel and Hardy connection was as the co- writer of the movie Sons of the Desert.
Thank for this information. Far more than you can find on Wikipedia. All the performances in Oliver the Eighth are wonderful. Barty is clearly an outstanding talent. I was very interested to note that he was a co-writer of the Sons of the Desert film.
So ... at some point, in the writing, Stan decided that Jitters should crawl under the table, and Mrs Fox climbs over it! Adds SO much to the madness of these two characters ... and I love it! 😂
Clive. We must feel sorry for them. There is hope for them yet ! My wife didn't enjoy comedy at all when we were first married, but she enjoys L and H now !
I agree, great. But watch Steve Martin Marty Short. Comic genius. You can tell they like each other. Laurie and Frye. Esp. Wooster and Jeeves. Jerry Lewis said his happiest times was working with Dean Martin. Great teams.
The subtlety of their reactions are just brilliant and I can’t help laughing out loud. Happy days enjoying their antics with family when I was a child 🤣😍💗
Stan's confusion at the imaginary dinner combined with him throwing in his playing along about it (losening his vest, throwing salt over his shoulder) was all hilarity that very few others could pull off so well
What a shame the youngsters of today, are not brought up with this timeless comedy. In the not too distant future, people will have no idea who Laurel & Hardy were. And that's a real shame.
Thanks for pointing Barrty out. I’ve always known and loved Mae Busch, but I was unfamiliar with Barty (although I’ve seen Oliver the Eighth), so I looked at his filmography and I see that he was an uncredited writer on Sons of the Desert! Thanks again.
Fenomeni, assolutamente geniali, attori inarrivabili, non ne nasceranno più, hanno fatto innamorare generazioni di persone, semplicemente immortali!! 😘😘😘
In india people often said new generation is intelligent but I don't believe. Laurel hardy chaplin set benchmark which no generation ever touched. All generation since 1930 till end of universe gonna love this
My 8 year old son absolutely howls with laughter to this. Never be another duo as funny.
brilliant, almost no dialogue, just the inimitable facial expressions and timing of these two grandmasters.
The best comedians that ever lived they will never be replaced

yep, they were certainly in the discussion! The Marx Brothers rank high, and The 3 Stooges were even nominated for an Oscar once!

I'm tempted to say one of the funniest scenes of any Laurel & Hardy movies. The truth is there were so many.
These two will never be equalled. Not ever. Pure genius..!!

Anne Reilley The best was Cluvero Pesantos
Little and Large ?....Maybe not .
@Ian Lloyd That's an odd reaction to my listing some of the great figures from film's past.
Sir Les Patterson would disagree Anne .
Great supporting players...Mae Bush
and Jack Barty.
The sound props has a field day in this episode, the sound of the ladle hitting Ollie’s head is sooo funny 😂

This is true comedy. Just wonderful
A genuine air of menace in this one makes the comedy all the more entertaining.
The mere mention of the name laurel and hardy makes me smile.......
Brilliant performance 👌
At the time of writing this comment, 51 INSANE PEOPLE had disliked Laurel and Hardy!
How is that even POSSIBLE?
Greatest comedy duo EVER! 👍😂

"Take a card."

Ollie's reactions were always real and priceless.
*Oliver slaps the imaginary cards out of Stan's hands*

Love the bit when Jitters hits Ollie over the head with the ladle.
Absolute gem
"Look what he did!". "You dropped one." I love it when he blows Stan's hat off with the bugle.
He also hits Oliver on the head with the ladle.

Jack Barty. To me, he will always be Jitters. And Mae Busch. WOW.
The Grandmasters of comedy.

Magnificent - and a great name for a butler.
I loved these guys!💕
The detail is stunning.
The best ever no doubt about it every comic after them nicked a piece of them

I laughed so hard when Stan hit that guy hahahaha.
Fantastic! Never seen this before. My cheeks hurt from smiling. I would love to have seen Stanley get tipsy on the wine.
Gust Genius Simple as that !!!
Mae Bush featured in a lot of Stan and Ollies early classic short films.
When I first saw this as a boy, I probably just thought of her as an old woman. Now that I'm 52 I find her rather attractive!
She's great her roles are so convincing!! 💖
@@postscript67 🤣🤣🤣 yup she's hot !!!
She did a total of 14 L&H shorts for Hal Roach Studios during her time there. 🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭 🎬📽️🎞️🎥🎦 😁😁😁😁😁

Nice weather we had tomorrow Hardy yes it certainly was gulp

That soup did look nice! I think they should of had a bread roll with it though 🤔
Don't be silly. That would have ruined the main course to follow. We will never know what it was 😕
4:30 Makes me want to have some soup.. To taste just as good as theirs.
Now, that was funny!!!! This is non existent in today’s entertainment. A damn shame.
