- In Todays video lesson I will give 3 tips to start you on your way to melodic soloing. All you need to know is the pentatonic scale and we will start our melodic soloing journey right here! Tip#1 Identify the chords and what key they are in. Tip#2 What are the notes in those chords. Tip#3 What scales work over those chords and create movement to the target notes [chord tones]. These tips will help you sound more melodic instantly because you are targeting the notes in the chords! Here is a link for the backing track I used in the video. • C F Backing Track 22mi...

Здравствуйте Rusty!

Another great lesson thank you Rusty for all your help........Paul from Ireland
Greetings from the USA Paul! Glad you liked the lesson! Have a great week ✌️
I really like that "moving down the scale on one string" thing. I've been trying to navigate by using scale "boxes" only, and it can get tedious (the way I do it, anyway).
Glad you liked the lesson! Have a great Sunday 🙏

Hi Ricky, Love these snippets of theory, clearly explained and demonstrated. It’s all coming together on the neck. I can see the patterns and find the notes. Your mnemonics for chords and notes are permanently imprinted now. Your spiral book is on my Xmas list!

Thanks for watching Heather! Always good to hear from you ❤️
Hello again Rusty,
I've been taking some lessons and also doing the UA-cam thing and your channel really opens up so many new doors for me here, for instance all I've been mostly working on and memorizing were the minor pentatonics. Following your lessons I'm seeing I need to put just as much focus into the major ones as well, which I think will help me move along the fretboard as you're showing here too. Thanks again so much, these lessons are fantastic.
I’m so glad to read this comment Thomas! Your kind words mean a lot buddy! I’m always searching out lessons to just get a little better every day! Glad you’re on the guitar playing journey with me! Enjoy your day Thomas✌️
Love this channel
I appreciate that Tim! Thanks buddy👌
Nice lessons rusty. So nice to try and put these ideas into practice rather than learning the tabs of other peoples solos note for note that u find in various courses. Your ideas are simple, melodic and make u want to put them into practice. Nice to have this to balance out our stressful days. From a medico in Australia thank you👍👋
Thanks Nick, I really feel alive when improvising on guitar 🎸 Just taking all of the tools and play from the heart! Glad you are taking something from the lesson’s! Happy Sunday 🙏
Needed this Chanel
Thanks J T! I appreciate it buddy ✌️
Thanks for sharing dear friend👍👌❤

Thanks share guitar player very good
Thanks! Happy Sunday 🙏
Like your style of teaching, and musicianship. Your sound is very nice. Learning from you. Thanks. What amp are you using?
I’m using a Carr mercury V amp with a J Rocket Audio Archer pedal! Clean but thick! I appreciate your comment Robert! Thanks 👍
Blue notes rule ....
Thanks John! That’s right ✌️
Very, very cool 👍👍👍👍👍. One question, how can I get All notes over the fret Board in my old head, but that's the way to find the target not in each Position. How get this in my old head, have you a Clou????
Really locating the root note in each position. Memorize that. And you will be on your way to playing all over the fretboard.👍 thanks buddy.
Rusty, Great ideas on beautiful melodies!!!
Would share what Overdrive You use ?….
Thanks a lot for watching the video! In this video, I am using the J rocket audio archer pedal for the overdrive sound. One of my favorite pedals for sure! Talk to you soon buddy.👍
@@rustysguitar1 Thank You so much !
You are inspiring me to go and play again 👍 !!!
@@Stratneck That’s awesome 🙏
What is your tip for vibrato?
I definitely will cover that in an upcoming lesson. start slow and pivot your first finger slightly. Vibe Brado is a hard thing to teach. Thanks for the comment and enjoy your week ahead✌️
Hey Rusty, I’ve been playing for a few year but have some issues I can’t seem to work out. Do you offer private online lesson? Thank you
I don’t do lessons right now but starting in late November I will be doing online lessons for individuals and groups! I will definitely make an announcement on my channel! Hope to see you soon
@@rustysguitar1 thank you! Yes, if you ever offer one on one, online with zoom, teams, etc. I would happily pay to finally get some help on a few things. Thank you! Keep up the great videos
Can't wait to finally get some online lessons off you Rusty.. .......is there any chance you will be selling an online course on melodic soloing? Paul from Ireland
@@paulkelly6853 Thanks Paul, i’ll let you know when I’m off and running with the lessons. Not sure about courses yet nation point but I will let you know soon! Thanks so much for your support man✌️
Wawo
Thank you buddy ✌️
Hi rusty do you play much with the diminished scale.
Hey Paul, I don’t use the actual diminished scale, but I put elements of diminished in the pentatonic scale. It’s not a big part of my playing, so I haven’t had any lessons on that. Have a great Sunday.🙏
its a wooow
Thank you 👍
This is interesting, but assumes I know: all the chords and changes for whatever I'm soloing over; various scales associated with those chords inside and out; every note on the fretboard like the back of my hand. Or am I missing something?
Well the concept is beginner (playing a scale over the two chords) but it’s definitely more advanced to be able to do that all over the neck. Great way to start memorizing is just to memorize the root note of a chord all over the neck. Then start to memorize the notes around it. Hopefully you still got something from the video! Thanks for the comment! Have a happy new year.🎈
@@rustysguitar1 ok thanks. I’ve just been trying to make those chord/scale connections on and off for years, but when I try it usually sounds pretty boring and I give up.
@@delcapslock100 Keep working on it bro!
That is melodic playing
Thanks Nic! Enjoy your Sunday 🙏
