The cat doesn’t need to say a word, yet he displays so much emotion in his actions. The way he cuddles up towards B-12 as he falls shows he really did care about his little friend.
Yeah, I think as the virus took over, dying people uploaded their consciousness to robots, like b12 did, and thats why most the robots we meet are so human like
I love how the robots treat the cat like a person, i dont think this is supposed to be a fourth wall break but them seeing the cat as an equal individual, i dont think they ever adress you as an animal or a pet but they see you as a person.
most of the robots have never seen a cat before or know what they are, so for all they know the cat could be just as smart as they are cause they just dont know
This game was honestly genius on the developers' part. They lured everyone in with "look, cute cat :)" and then proceeded to tell such a cool apocalyptic story that had very little to do with the actual cat itself. I doubt it would have gotten this much traction if the cat wasn't involved, and it really deserves the attention it's getting.
I liked how they portrayed that Artificial Intelligence aren't all that bad. You can hear from one of the bots/stories in the series where the "cleaners" loved the soft ones so much and that they missed them. So they tried mimicking/copying how the humans (soft ones) actually lived like. That's wholesome and really sad to know.
I also love this. There's too many games and movies about AI becoming sentient and taking over the world and destroying humans, but this is such a nice spin on the idea that no, they love us. We created them, we do so many weird and fun and cool things and they admire us for it and want to imitate us.
Anyone else notice the HUGE red flag when you’re finding the clues in the house? Clementine said she didn’t know Blazer’s name, but the message reads out “I’m with blazer, come to nightclub”.

I actually don't think the humans are truly gone. Why did the robots in the city at some point "gain souls"? I think it's because the humans in the city uploaded themselves into their companions when the Zurks were still only devouring organic matter. That was also the point the robots switched from pure binary to a language more similar to human ones. Since then, they either forgot (it's apparently been ~7 million years) or they never quite remembered to begin with, as can be seen with b-12.
I like how the boxes the cat hides in is from a company called “Neco”, while the Japanese term for cat is “Neko”. So I guess jack was right when he said this place looked like Japan. 👍
Finally finished watching this. The way he watches until the whole ceiling of the city opens up really sums up whatt makes it so satisfying to watch games through Jack, the details he takes in and the pacing of how he goes through the environments just makes my brain happy haha. This was so nice. I think I will definitely go back to this series multiple times in the future.
this has become my comfort series to the point i listen to this series to go to sleep because its the right timing with not so much sudden yelling or loud music. The environments are by far my favourite from a video game
Honestly, this game doesn't need mechanics or a story or any sort of message or ANYTHING The main draw of it, to me, is the fact that you could pause it at any point and just get a painting It's such a beautiful game (visually) constantly
i think it's interesting how the robots aren't exactly a negative thing. some people fear robots taking over the world of whatever, but the way that the robots are portrayed feels human and real. I like that.

The way the Companions are depicted as our descendants is an oddly comforting take on "humans go extinct, AI takes over." Usually post-apocalyptic AI scenarios induce fear or sadness, but this game gives it more of a "these are our children" kind of vibe.
This is a thing in post-apocalyptic media, that takes place long AFTER the apocalypse, that I really like: the people who live then have no notion of what came before, so what's left might seem like a bleak shadow to us, but to them it's just how the world is and should be. A great example is the movie "Origin: Spirits of the Past". ^^
The speech Clem made about us being Outsiders and her shoo’ing us along the path didn’t make me tear up but it did make me feel conflicting emotions. I always thought that the lack of voice for these robots would make the game feel disconnecting but the more I played and the more personalities I’ve seen made me realized how much I underestimated this game and it’s concept of robots. This game is much more than a game about a cat and I would’ve regretted if I hadn’t bought it. This game deserves all the praise

From the last episode, I totally predicted the sun would kill the Zurks. The defluxer shined purple, which made me think of UV light. You know what produces a LOT of UV light? The sun.

The sequel could be a direction continuation. What happened to the city after the dome was opened? How did the robots react and respond? What does the outside beyond the walls look like?

I like to think that that panel lighting up as the cat left was the part of B12 that still lives on in the system even though his drone body died. He did get to go outside with you and see the sky and that was him acknowledging that and saying farewell to the cat
I would love that if there's a sequel they show the robots expanding outside and make paintings, statues for this messiah cat that saved them and gave them freedom. This game is special.
I found it incredibly endearing yet sad that the Companion robots had tried so hard to imitate humanity and be as close to humans as possible. It's a refreshing take in comparison to "robots are evil and will destroy humans because they hate us"
I'm wondering if those Companion Robots are like B-12, Humans in Robot bodies and that is why they are so human like. Because At the end we see other Companion Robots with no personality, they are just Robots. Why did they never change and imitate humans yet the others did? We saw 2 of the machines used to transfer a human into a different body. B-12's apartment and another at Antvillage.
The name “stray” really hammers home how abandoned the cat, robots, and other inhabitants of the world are because they are now subject to nature and themselves only. There are no humans to help because they killed themselves. The name also emphasises the capability of cats and other animals to survive without us.
I actually started shedding a lot of tears when b12 died. He was a really good companion. I really enjoyed watching you play Stray, Jacksepticeye. The first Stray episode is actually my first video of yours that I’ve watched. I just loved your reactions to the things in the game. As a cat lover AND owner, I got really attached to this game. As much as I agree that this post-apocalyptic thing about humans doing their own end in the game is, I think a lot of people miss the other point. That humanity still lives on inside the robots, in what they left behind. Yes, they created the Zurks and yes, they created the class system inside the walled city, but the robots also adopted the little things that define humanity. They open cafes and bars, they paint, they dance, they play music and they do just about anything a human can. Heck, you even saw a robot trying to cheat on a game and another smoking to get 'high'. Humanity lives on and that includes all the good things that makes you want to live and have hope.
No, it's pretty clear humanity IS the robots. They used the capsules, like the scientist who became B-12, to transfer their consciousness into robot bodies.

@@NeroCM B-12 is most likely just one of the rare cases of consciousness being transferred. B-12 even refers to the robots the cat met throughout the game as "Companions", as the 'descendants of humanity', and since robots became self-aware(as noted by the person above), it's far more evident to say that humans perished except for perhaps the few special cases like B-12.
@@tainasiman2107 Transferring consciousness can be a pretty big deal. Since the human mind is vastly large it would probably be hard to fit all of your memories and consciousness inside a single chip. So they must have probably only fitted like some parts of their memory. As to why they dont remember something *more* important like humanity dying, well that depends on what that scientist saved inside that robot body. but this is a very vague theory, so take it with a grain of salt.
I firmly believe B-12 uploaded itself to the main system and is now the compound itself. The little spark at the end kind of makes me think about it too, it's watching over the cat. There's no way this doesn't get a sequel after this much attention and great storytelling.
I wanna see a sequel to this. So. Bad. I’ll even take a DLC so I can continue living the magic. I also would love to see a game like this, but with a dog instead of a cat. I’m a cat person 100%, but I would absolutely play a Stray-like game as a dog

I honestly expected a cutscene where the cats meet again after the credits. I wanted to see them reunite so badly. Now with an open ending like that, it only leaves me with speculations, like will the cat find the family now? Are the other cats fine too? I really need to know. Hopfully the devs can add a cutscene in the future ;_;

I really like the immersion you get simply by the fact that you play as a cat, because the gamer instinct to poke around in every single corner, interact with every object in the space even if it's just breaking/knocking things over, climb as high as you possibly can... it all makes perfect sense in the context of the story, because that is literally what a cat would do. It's a great concept to build a game around, because it allows the environments and worldbuilding to expand so much further and into unexpected little nooks and crannies. The artists designing the environments really get to show off the work they put into the details despite the very straightforward, linear storyline, because the player is allowed to explore it so naturally.
in case you feel sad about B12 - he's alive in the system. the last scene of the monitors flashing outside was his system being alive. he just needs a new host for a body and he's all set!

I am honestly really impressed on how the game gave a Ginger a lot of personality without anything fancy, just cat personality, wound licking, meowing, the way he shows affection to the characters that he met, tap-tapping anything he finds interesting and all other cat acts, the developers really made a master piece
So twitter told me all of the devs are obsessed with cats and owns multiple of them too, so much so that, in the dev team, the cat to human ratio was easily won over by their pet cats. 🐈 I like to think that it's true, since the game itself just shows how obsessed it is with cats
As heartbreaking and sad I found B-12’s death to be, I think it was important as it served as a symbolism for how humanity’s time has come to an end and that it’s time to let the new era of Earth’s inhabitants care for the planet, which in this case are the companions. Hopefully they will be able to create a cleaner and healthier environment than their predecessors so that there won’t ever be another lockdown scenario like this again. I still wonder if Ginger ever reunited with the other cats though…..
Cats show affection through their blinking. Slowly closing their eyes and then opening them again while looking at you means that they love you. So, at the end, that extra long blink at the camera was actually ginger showing affection towards the player. (Everyone, I'm aware its a sign of trust. Thank you if you were just trying to inform me)
I'd like to think he was saying goodbye to the city and everyone in the city, and that he loved everyone in the city. Tho I also like him showing affection to the player. :)
There's a cat backpack company, called Travel Cat, who teamed up with Stray to make the same cat backpack in real life so that your cat can look like the one ingame
Another cool little detail I noticed was how everything was in english at the last location. It’s a small detail that shows that this city was only inhabited by humans and not by the more “life-like” robots that we see in the other areas.
It was really sad cause I had grown an attachment to B-12 and that he was like a best friend to ginger then he just dies and I was really sad,I’m also kinda bummed that you didn’t get to see gingers other cat friends

Fun fact about the world design in Stray: The slums and the buildings design were heavily inspired by the real life walled city in Hong Kong (Kowloon Walled City) back then. They described that place is a "perfect playground for cats"
No wonder it reminded me so much of Hong Kong, the narrow streets and all the colourful neon plus the style of plants and colours struck me more as Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City vs architecture you'd find in Tokyo or Seoul.

As someone that's been waiting for years for the game to finish and has seen nearly everything updated, it's incredible that I'm able to see some of my favourite content creators enjoy the game aswell
Cat facts💕: Cats have scent glands in their paws and when they scratch or knead while purring, they are leaving their scent. It helps them stay oriented as well as claims a territory for themselves. yes, when a cat kneads on you (making biscuits) they are marking you as theirs and leaving their scent on you. Also, another reason cats love boxes, is that it is warm. The enclosed space helps regulate their body temp. That is why the love crevasses and small areas. And finally, (referencing the first vid in this series) cats don't do things to be mean or out of spite. They cannot comprehend emotions like that. They might pick up and understand that you give them attention and it gets exciting when they do naughty stuff, but they don't quite understand what it means to feel guilty or the concept of being "naughty". They just want to know that they are important to you because they depend on you for life, emotional comfort, and safety. If they are breaking stuff or getting into stuff that they shouldn't, it is because they are BORED. Get a few good play sessions in with toys throughout the day (preferably before mealtime to simulate hunting) and they will be happy and feel like a successful predator that they are. And they won't dig through your recycling as often....sigh. Go hug your cats!!!
Clementines apartment is literally my house goals. A dim, cozy, hippie/boho inspired vibe with plants EVERYWHERE. Along with some neon lights scattered around to make it colorful and vibrant. I’ve never wanted to be in a digital space more in my life.

I kinda wonder if the other city’s fell too? They were all sealed up pretty tight, the only reason everyone died in city 99 is because of the plague, so I wonder if the humans are still alive in the other city’s or if they all ended up dying too
I would love a sequel with Ginger again, playing as him and travel with him through the outside to find his family. Not only would it be satisfying for most of us, but give us some more world building on the outside, which we we don't know a lot about. Love this game dearly
But also, that B-12's "consciousness" has gone "into the network" - analogous with limbo or something, the way it made it sound in earlier parts of the game - of the walled city's computer systems. That's what that flashing screen was... so I'm really, really hoping for substantial DLC, or a sequel.

1:45:44 I love this detail: as you’re leaving the cat does what’s called a “slow blink”. Slowly blinking is a cats way of showing affection, kind of like a dog brushing up against you or making eye contact. Even big cats like tigers and jaguars perform their gesture. Moreover, they’re looking directly at not only the city they’ve saved - but also the player. A final send off, a “Thank’s for playing” by both our feline protagonist and the developers.
This was amazing. Literally cried at the last scene. Also the scenes were SO PRETTY! And the cat meows and movements were extremely realistic. I love Ginger and B-12
this is my one peeve on the game and especially the ending. the cat's main motivating factor is getting out to get back to him family. yeah he might have also wanted to help along the way, but that's the main driving force. otherwise why have the cat family at the beginning at all? why not just show the main cat traveling around on his own and falling down into the city? why show a family that gets separated and all and then not have that reunion shown at the end?

Personally, I like it more this way. Yeah I get it, the cat wants to get back to its family/friends but I feel like if that's the route that they chose then it would feel forced considering that the cat was in a whole different area and it would also be very cliche

I would've loved to see them reunite, but it just wouldn't make sense. Plus, though the motivating factor is trying to get back home, that isn't the theme of the game itself.
I just finished rewatching. This game has been filling my mind lately, even seeing my cats play around. I just wish there was more of this. I cried, I loved it, I need more. I also recently saw it in the store but couldn't get it because I don't have the right system. Congrats on finishing it, though. This was absolutely outstanding 👏🏻
I'm speculating that the outside section of this game wasn't included because the devs are planning on making a sequel where the cat traverses the outside, in search for the original group of cats that we saw at the start of the game. whether that's true or not, the game itself was still magnificent.
I'll be honest, I don't want a sequel. I feel like Cat going on "another adventure" would cheapen this one, and especially, that long, grateful blink of love and thanks at the end.

Zurks are probably still alive. They can hide in underground and eat everything during night. It'll be interesting to see the same cat or another customizable cat starts another adventure outside full of greenery and robot communities like Horizon with bigger map, more combat mechanics, and a lot more side quests.
I could definitely imagine a sequel for this, like the robots are migrating outside and you get to explore the towns and city's that was left piecing the story of what happened
Most of the internet keeps saying that B-12 is definitely dead. But right at the end, when the cat walks off screen, the game draws your attention to a panel that lights up and the controller even vibrates. There is a reason the game wanted you to notice it and I do genuinely believe that it was telling us that B-12 actually survived the transfer. I could be reaching for something, but I don't think the devs did that effect with the panel for nothing.
And the dialogue that B-12 says right before shutting the system off is that it COULD fry his system when he makes the transfer so I do believe that B-12 could very much be alive.

I’ve played this, and I’ve watched my wife and jack play it now, and EACH TIME I get so emotional and teary eyed. I hope there will be a sequel. I hope this game gets GotY recognition
Through this whole playthrough, I liked imagining that whenever B-12 translated what the robots were saying he literally went "Meow, meow meow-meow. Meow."
Cats and dogs can understand human languages though, they can recognize many sounds and words. My cat can understand what I'm saying in Romanian and will do almost whatever I ask of him, but not when I speak Italian or English.
Slightly slower I think than a real cat, but that might be on purpose because people who either don't pay attention to or don't know might get worried the kitty is breathing too fast.
This is the first time I watched a game play through all the way through from start to end (even though I did have to go about my day and come back to the last half of the whole 3 parts Sean put this in). It is now 3:56 AM... Time to go to bed as I am visiting my dying uncle in the early afternoon. This took my mind off things which I needed. Thanks.

This game seems eerily set up for a sequel and i'm ok there being a sequel if it happens, the little computer spark at the end could mean that B12 is alive within the system, we never actually got to see the outside or see the character's reactions to the outside or anything like that, we know that there is probably other walled cities out there because it's named walled city 99, we don't know that much about the infection other than the fact that it happened and all the humans died. It kind of reminds me of The Maze Runner trilogy, in the fact that it's similar with a post-apocalyptic world with a cast of character trapped in a massive walled structure for some reason
Yea I’m pretty sure they got sent back to the network like earlier when they said it was like being back in the network when they were shut down for a while. I REALLY hope so because I’d love a sequel and really want them to survive too. And also explore more of the city and/or outside/other cities and reunite with the other kitties by the end.
plus, like, the whole reason for going outside was to get back to the cat's friends, and there was no reuniting at the end. plus, once the cat gets outside, how will it find its way back to them? so it really seems set up for a sequel, to traverse the world outside and get back to its friends
Fun fact: the cat you play as HAS a name per say, he's based off one of the cats of the game crew, Murtaugh. Hoolga and Viv's cat, he's known as "The Boss" by those who love him.
this game is phenomenal, im so glad it wasnt just a "hey you play as a cat" gimmick game and it actually had such a deep lore and story to it and INCREDIBLE, BREATHTAKING environments. overall probably my personal best game 2022

The thing with cats and boxes is that it's an instinctive drive. The get the same feeling of safety climbing into a box as they would from hiding in a bush or similar in nature.

I feel like that'd be bittersweet, he might end up stuck in the place where the people he hated lived, unable to enjoy any of their privileges as he's confined to the machines, with everything abandoned, and alone . Even if he's able to get the companions' attention and get them to bring him a body to transfer into that'd be at least a few hours stuck in there, *if* he's able to communicate properly/someone recognises his drone until clementine or the others from the undercity get there/ they have a spare body just close to the subway

The topic you were talking about at the end with global warming has been going on for years but nothing changes. I always like to think of the quote "you will observe with concern how long a useful truth may be known and exist before it is generally received and practiced on." It's such a fantastic quote.
Interesting to note that the earth was probably never that fucked. Like the birds at the end looked like pigeons, and those aren't front runners for making it through the apocalypse, so maybe there are other walled cities out there with people in them, they just couldn't get into 99 or have gotten stuck inside their own cities for other reasons. Stray 2 could be about rescuing them, so you have to start by getting into the city from the outside.
That's what makes the story really intriguing and interesting to me. I love this game as it is but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to a sequel or a prequel. The world they created is just that interesting.
Honestly, it seems that what happened was a non-zoonotic plague. The animals were fine, they couldn't catch it. The threat they were isolating from was other humans and infected air.

Word cannot describe the enjoyment of the magical experience that is playing (and watching others play) this game. I wasn't really aware of the game up until around the time it came out, and I bought it on release date without much thought other than "hey, you play as a cat and everyone's talking about it!" I didn't expect this game to have this much deep lore, adorable characters, and a very moving story that brought me to tears multiple times. I love cats so much (I have 6 of my own) and the fact that you get to play as a cat so accurately was absolutely incredible to me. I also agree that having futuristic robots admire us and not hate us is so refreshing! My only small complaints are that I ran into a few bugs while playing and I wish we could've seen some loose ends tied up at the very end. Lots of people have been debating about what a prequel or sequel would be like, and if the developers made more games around this concept, I would totally play those games. However, I'm also perfectly content with Stray being it's own standalone thing!
The fact that at the end you won't see the other cats waiting for you, since they don't know you're still alive and continued living life makes it more sad but realistic, yknow?
idk, I have two cats, a few years back, one of them got lost. The other would search the house high and low, looking and meowing until we finally found the lost one.

I cried really hard but then I saw the computer screen light up as the kitty was going outside and I suspect they were sent back to the network like they said earlier how it felt like they were back in the network when they were shut down for a while. I suspect a sequel or expansion will be coming and I am super hyped if there is. I really hope so. I want to rescue them and also explore more and reunite with the other kitties by the end. We also never learned much about the giant eyes. I kind of wonder if they eyes are what remains of humanity somehow or something. They aren’t susceptible to the UV light like the zurks so likely the opening of the city wouldn’t kill them off even if they weren’t in the sewer. They seem like something else entirely.
5:30 gotta point out as well that one of the robots in the last episode said “some may call this junk but me I call them treasures” and it’s a line from the merchant in Skyrim
The cat doesn’t need to say a word, yet he displays so much emotion in his actions. The way he cuddles up towards B-12 as he falls shows he really did care about his little friend.

This game was honestly genius on the developers' part. They lured everyone in with "look, cute cat :)" and then proceeded to tell such a cool apocalyptic story that had very little to do with the actual cat itself. I doubt it would have gotten this much traction if the cat wasn't involved, and it really deserves the attention it's getting.

I liked how they portrayed that Artificial Intelligence aren't all that bad. You can hear from one of the bots/stories in the series where the "cleaners" loved the soft ones so much and that they missed them. So they tried mimicking/copying how the humans (soft ones) actually lived like. That's wholesome and really sad to know.
I also love this. There's too many games and movies about AI becoming sentient and taking over the world and destroying humans, but this is such a nice spin on the idea that no, they love us. We created them, we do so many weird and fun and cool things and they admire us for it and want to imitate us.

I actually don't think the humans are truly gone. Why did the robots in the city at some point "gain souls"? I think it's because the humans in the city uploaded themselves into their companions when the Zurks were still only devouring organic matter. That was also the point the robots switched from pure binary to a language more similar to human ones. Since then, they either forgot (it's apparently been ~7 million years) or they never quite remembered to begin with, as can be seen with b-12.

Finally finished watching this. The way he watches until the whole ceiling of the city opens up really sums up whatt makes it so satisfying to watch games through Jack, the details he takes in and the pacing of how he goes through the environments just makes my brain happy haha. This was so nice. I think I will definitely go back to this series multiple times in the future.

The way the Companions are depicted as our descendants is an oddly comforting take on "humans go extinct, AI takes over." Usually post-apocalyptic AI scenarios induce fear or sadness, but this game gives it more of a "these are our children" kind of vibe.
It's apocalyptic but still hopeful and at times downright optimistic. I love it
This is a thing in post-apocalyptic media, that takes place long AFTER the apocalypse, that I really like: the people who live then have no notion of what came before, so what's left might seem like a bleak shadow to us, but to them it's just how the world is and should be. A great example is the movie "Origin: Spirits of the Past". ^^
Humans die, robots with fusion cores live on, and cats somehow have the plot armor to tank the global disaster.

I always thought that the lack of voice for these robots would make the game feel disconnecting but the more I played and the more personalities I’ve seen made me realized how much I underestimated this game and it’s concept of robots. This game is much more than a game about a cat and I would’ve regretted if I hadn’t bought it. This game deserves all the praise

As much as I agree that this post-apocalyptic thing about humans doing their own end in the game is, I think a lot of people miss the other point. That humanity still lives on inside the robots, in what they left behind. Yes, they created the Zurks and yes, they created the class system inside the walled city, but the robots also adopted the little things that define humanity. They open cafes and bars, they paint, they dance, they play music and they do just about anything a human can. Heck, you even saw a robot trying to cheat on a game and another smoking to get 'high'. Humanity lives on and that includes all the good things that makes you want to live and have hope.

I honestly expected a cutscene where the cats meet again after the credits. I wanted to see them reunite so badly. Now with an open ending like that, it only leaves me with speculations, like will the cat find the family now? Are the other cats fine too? I really need to know. I really like the immersion you get simply by the fact that you play as a cat, because the gamer instinct to poke around in every single corner, interact with every object in the space even if it's just breaking/knocking things over, climb as high as you possibly can... it all makes perfect sense in the context of the story, because that is literally what a cat would do. It's a great concept to build a game around, because it allows the environments and worldbuilding to expand so much further and into unexpected little nooks and crannies. The artists designing the environments really get to show off the work they put into the details despite the very straightforward, linear storyline, because the player is allowed to explore it so naturally.
in case you feel sad about B12 - he's alive in the system. the last scene of the monitors flashing outside was his system being alive. he just needs a new host for a body and he's all set!

I am honestly really impressed on how the game gave a Ginger a lot of personality without anything fancy, just cat personality, wound licking, meowing, the way he shows affection to the characters that he met, tap-tapping anything he finds interesting and all other cat acts, the developers really made a master piece
I like that the cats never talked too, i'm kinda tired of talking animals now. And i feel like if they did talk, they'd be assholes or something
So twitter told me all of the devs are obsessed with cats and owns multiple of them too, so much so that, in the dev team, the cat to human ratio was easily won over by their pet cats. 🐈 I like to think that it's true, since the game itself just shows how obsessed it is with cats

As heartbreaking and sad I found B-12’s death to be, I think it was important as it served as a symbolism for how humanity’s time has come to an end and that it’s time to let the new era of Earth’s inhabitants care for the planet, which in this case are the companions. Hopefully they will be able to create a cleaner and healthier environment than their predecessors so that there won’t ever be another lockdown scenario like this again.

Cats show affection through their blinking. Slowly closing their eyes and then opening them again while looking at you means that they love you. So, at the end, that extra long blink at the camera was actually ginger showing affection towards the player.

Cats have scent glands in their paws and when they scratch or knead while purring, they are leaving their scent. It helps them stay oriented as well as claims a territory for themselves. yes, when a cat kneads on you (making biscuits) they are marking you as theirs and leaving their scent on you.
Also, another reason cats love boxes, is that it is warm. The enclosed space helps regulate their body temp. That is why the love crevasses and small areas.
And finally, (referencing the first vid in this series) cats don't do things to be mean or out of spite. They cannot comprehend emotions like that. They might pick up and understand that you give them attention and it gets exciting when they do naughty stuff, but they don't quite understand what it means to feel guilty or the concept of being "naughty". They just want to know that they are important to you because they depend on you for life, emotional comfort, and safety. If they are breaking stuff or getting into stuff that they shouldn't, it is because they are BORED. Get a few good play sessions in with toys throughout the day (preferably before mealtime to simulate hunting) and they will be happy and feel like a successful predator that they are. And they won't dig through your recycling as often....sigh.

I kinda wonder if the other city’s fell too? They were all sealed up pretty tight, the only reason everyone died in city 99 is because of the plague, so I wonder if the humans are still alive in the other city’s or if they all ended up dying too
I would love a sequel with Ginger again, playing as him and travel with him through the outside to find his family. Not only would it be satisfying for most of us, but give us some more world building on the outside, which we we don't know a lot about. Love this game dearly
An adorable detail in the ending is that the cat squints at the camera/back into the facility. Squinting like that is how cats smile and show trust

I love this detail: as you’re leaving the cat does what’s called a “slow blink”. Slowly blinking is a cats way of showing affection, kind of like a dog brushing up against you or making eye contact. Even big cats like tigers and jaguars perform their gesture.
Moreover, they’re looking directly at not only the city they’ve saved - but also the player. A final send off, a “Thank’s for playing” by both our feline protagonist and the developers.
Great to know. Just more proof how the developers of this game focused on detail and worked very, very hard.

This was amazing. Literally cried at the last scene. Also the scenes were SO PRETTY! And the cat meows and movements were extremely realistic. I love Ginger and B-12

this is my one peeve on the game and especially the ending. the cat's main motivating factor is getting out to get back to him family. yeah he might have also wanted to help along the way, but that's the main driving force. otherwise why have the cat family at the beginning at all? why not just show the main cat traveling around on his own and falling down into the city? why show a family that gets separated and all and then not have that reunion shown at the end?

Personally, I like it more this way. Yeah I get it, the cat wants to get back to its family/friends but I feel like if that's the route that they chose then it would feel forced considering that the cat was in a whole different area and it would also be very cliche

I would've loved to see them reunite, but it just wouldn't make sense. Plus, though the motivating factor is trying to get back home, that isn't the theme of the game itself.

I just finished rewatching. This game has been filling my mind lately, even seeing my cats play around. I just wish there was more of this. I cried, I loved it, I need more. I also recently saw it in the store but couldn't get it because I don't have the right system. Congrats on finishing it, though. This was absolutely outstanding 👏🏻
I love the detail of when you no longer had the back park on, the fur was cleaner than the fur that wasn’t covered by it.
I'm speculating that the outside section of this game wasn't included because the devs are planning on making a sequel where the cat traverses the outside, in search for the original group of cats that we saw at the start of the game. whether that's true or not, the game itself was still magnificent.
I'll be honest, I don't want a sequel. I feel like Cat going on "another adventure" would cheapen this one, and especially, that long, grateful blink of love and thanks at the end.

Zurks are probably still alive. They can hide in underground and eat everything during night. It'll be interesting to see the same cat or another customizable cat starts another adventure outside full of greenery and robot communities like Horizon with bigger map, more combat mechanics, and a lot more side quests.
I could definitely imagine a sequel for this, like the robots are migrating outside and you get to explore the towns and city's that was left piecing the story of what happened

Most of the internet keeps saying that B-12 is definitely dead. But right at the end, when the cat walks off screen, the game draws your attention to a panel that lights up and the controller even vibrates. There is a reason the game wanted you to notice it and I do genuinely believe that it was telling us that B-12 actually survived the transfer. I could be reaching for something, but I don't think the devs did that effect with the panel for nothing.

And the dialogue that B-12 says right before shutting the system off is that it COULD fry his system when he makes the transfer so I do believe that B-12 could very much be alive.

Cats and dogs can understand human languages though, they can recognize many sounds and words. My cat can understand what I'm saying in Romanian and will do almost whatever I ask of him, but not when I speak Italian or English.

This is the first time I watched a game play through all the way through from start to end (even though I did have to go about my day and come back to the last half of the whole 3 parts Sean put this in). It is now 3:56 AM... Time to go to bed as I am visiting my dying uncle in the early afternoon. This took my mind off things which I needed. Thanks.

This game seems eerily set up for a sequel and i'm ok there being a sequel if it happens, the little computer spark at the end could mean that B12 is alive within the system, we never actually got to see the outside or see the character's reactions to the outside or anything like that, we know that there is probably other walled cities out there because it's named walled city 99, we don't know that much about the infection other than the fact that it happened and all the humans died. It kind of reminds me of The Maze Runner trilogy, in the fact that it's similar with a post-apocalyptic world with a cast of character trapped in a massive walled structure for some reason

I REALLY hope so because I’d love a sequel and really want them to survive too. And also explore more of the city and/or outside/other cities and reunite with the other kitties by the end.
plus, like, the whole reason for going outside was to get back to the cat's friends, and there was no reuniting at the end. plus, once the cat gets outside, how will it find its way back to them? so it really seems set up for a sequel, to traverse the world outside and get back to its friends
Fun fact: the cat you play as HAS a name per say, he's based off one of the cats of the game crew, Murtaugh. Hoolga and Viv's cat, he's known as "The Boss" by those who love him.

this game is phenomenal, im so glad it wasnt just a "hey you play as a cat" gimmick game and it actually had such a deep lore and story to it and INCREDIBLE, BREATHTAKING environments. overall probably my personal best game 2022

This game was so beautiful and told such a unique, interesting story.
The thing with cats and boxes is that it's an instinctive drive. The get the same feeling of safety climbing into a box as they would from hiding in a bush or similar in nature.

I feel like that'd be bittersweet, he might end up stuck in the place where the people he hated lived, unable to enjoy any of their privileges as he's confined to the machines, with everything abandoned, and alone . Even if he's able to get the companions' attention and get them to bring him a body to transfer into that'd be at least a few hours stuck in there, *if* he's able to communicate properly/someone recognises his drone until clementine or the others from the undercity get there/ they have a spare body just close to the subway

The topic you were talking about at the end with global warming has been going on for years but nothing changes. I always like to think of the quote "you will observe with concern how long a useful truth may be known and exist before it is generally received and practiced on." It's such a fantastic quote.
Interesting to note that the earth was probably never that fucked. Like the birds at the end looked like pigeons, and those aren't front runners for making it through the apocalypse, so maybe there are other walled cities out there with people in them, they just couldn't get into 99 or have gotten stuck inside their own cities for other reasons. Stray 2 could be about rescuing them, so you have to start by getting into the city from the outside.
That's what makes the story really intriguing and interesting to me. I love this game as it is but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to a sequel or a prequel. The world they created is just that interesting.

Honestly, it seems that what happened was a non-zoonotic plague. The animals were fine, they couldn't catch it. The threat they were isolating from was other humans and infected air.

Word cannot describe the enjoyment of the magical experience that is playing (and watching others play) this game. I wasn't really aware of the game up until around the time it came out, and I bought it on release date without much thought other than "hey, you play as a cat and everyone's talking about it!" I didn't expect this game to have this much deep lore, adorable characters, and a very moving story that brought me to tears multiple times. I love cats so much (I have 6 of my own) and the fact that you get to play as a cat so accurately was absolutely incredible to me. I also agree that having futuristic robots admire us and not hate us is so refreshing! My only small complaints are that I ran into a few bugs while playing and I wish we could've seen some loose ends tied up at the very end. Lots of people have been debating about what a prequel or sequel would be like, and if the developers made more games around this concept, I would totally play those games. However, I'm also perfectly content with Stray being it's own standalone thing!
The fact that at the end you won't see the other cats waiting for you, since they don't know you're still alive and continued living life makes it more sad but realistic, yknow?

I suspect a sequel or expansion will be coming and I am super hyped if there is. I really hope so. I want to rescue them and also explore more and reunite with the other kitties by the end. We also never learned much about the giant eyes.
I kind of wonder if they eyes are what remains of humanity somehow or something. They aren’t susceptible to the UV light like the zurks so likely the opening of the city wouldn’t kill them off even if they weren’t in the sewer. They seem like something else entirely.
