seen all the idea for drone defence, for me i think, its the CIWS like trophy and jammer.. but that more like a last resort method. but a specialized anti drone tank would be needed for protection, just like how anti air umbrella was always needed since the cold war. a unit of tank, specialized in tracking, jamming n killing enemy drone, that possibly utilized a drone its self. say a drone powered thru cable n fitted with small radar n various sensor fly 150m above tracking surrounding area for potential enemy drone. then as for the kill method, that vehicle had to be fitted with airburst munition as CWIS to fought againt large drone, missile n other fast flying object. as for the small cheap drone, the best are still hard kill with another drone, one whom are made to clash n kill cheap drone.
Already new armor is being made with anti drone tech and there are anti drone defense systems that can deal with swarms of drones at a time and that's what we know so far but trust me there is a lot we don't know with technology most of it is still classified.
Ignore this it's more efficient to lengthen the shell by as much as widening it for the same volume of explosive as if you widen the shell you increase drag resistance requiring more propellant charge 120mm is ideal as air launched starstreak is smaller volume again but used a higher explosive yeald explosive so that's all we do if we need higher yeald.
Incorrect -- an increase of 20mm in length when the length is far longer than the diameter will increase volume much less than an increase in diameter by 20mm because what matters is the area and that's derived from the radius squared! As an example, let's say shell A is 120mm in diameter and it's 800mm long, that will result in a volume of 9048cc. If you increase the length by 20mm the volume increases to 9274cc. But, if you kept the same 800mm length as the original but increased the diameter the volume goes to 12,315cc!

You have to ask who this tank might oppose. Russian MBT's are simply not going to be a factor in the life span of this tank. Wars outside of Europe require the ability to transport vehicles in high volume, something Nato countries, excepting the US, simply do not have. Those conflicts would see Nato use smaller and lighter tracked and wheeled IFV's and high mobility off road assault trucks loaded with ATGM's.

The 152mm gun/launcher was crap. It was based on an old naval gun. It was also on the Sheridan AR/AAV. The heat round was really slow, only about 2200 ft per second. The Shillelagh missile was supposed to be able to take out any tank at that time.

A regular Leopard 2, K2 Black Panther, or M1 Abrams CAN shoot three rounds in 10 seconds. The thing is not just to send these three rounds in 10 sec. but to shoot and hit the targets. A T-72 tank can shoot three rounds in 12 sec. but it can't hit anything with second and third shots. Leopard 2, Leclerc, or Challenger 2 can shoot and hit three different tanks in 10 - 12 sec. because of their hunter-killer capability.

That fact will make them less Effective against heavy armor due to tanks upgrading Armor and anti Drone tech. If the Drone can’t get to the target it can’t Neutralize it. The game goes on, but Not over for Armor!
I think this is a major mistake. a shell of this size will demand an autoloader. It will drastically reduce the number of shells that it can carry. A tank's major threat these days are drones and missiles. A tank will need to be protect against these.

Ukraine as rammed home the need for Nato to create new Armoured solutions. The last few conflicts were not against a Peer level nation like we are currently seeing Ukraine. Were both infantry Portable Anti Tank weapons proved to be so devastating to Russian Armor at the start. Drone warfare as come to the fore both Diy and speclised drone systems. This new Main Gun and the unmaned Turret will see Nato moving away from manned Tanks and other mobil weapons platforms. Ai is going to play an ever increasing roll in future conflicts, and depending on how long this program needs to develope a fully working MBT and iron out any issues with it. Ai could be even more in control of its weapons and sensor systems. But these future tanks are going to be costly items to feild and not the sort of equipment you want to loose in large numbers. But for now the MBT is still a sign of strength for a peer power nation. So here to stay for a while yet.

I think that 140mm cal. is over optimal. Bear in mind the ever evolving co-ordination between drones (UAVs), A.I., smaller delivery systems, with awesome punch, more efficient LASERs that at least destroy or disrupt sensors and more over the next fifty years.

Long barrel with redesigned recoil system. The role of the Tank today is not the same as a decade ago. Main threats are A/T mines, A/T missiles systems from 4km, RPG warhead development, not to mention Drones. As far as a Recce vehicle is concerned, it needs to be small, quick, and relatively quiet, because it’s all about finding the enemy aka being the eyes and ears of the BG. So an improved version of the Schimitar would be a good move. Let’s hope the Govt dont buy into this crap, after all it’s OUR money.

Ukraine as rammed home the need for Nato to create new Armoured solutions. The last few conflicts were not against a Peer level nation like we are currently seeing Ukraine.
Were both infantry Portable Anti Tank weapons proved to be so devastating to Russian Armor at the start. Drone warfare as come to the fore both Diy and speclised drone systems.
This new Main Gun and the unmaned Turret will see Nato moving away from manned Tanks and other mobil weapons platforms.
Ai is going to play an ever increasing roll in future conflicts, and depending on how long this program needs to develope a fully working MBT and iron out any issues with it. Ai could be even more in control of its weapons and sensor systems.
But these future tanks are going to be costly items to feild and not the sort of equipment you want to loose in large numbers.
But for now the MBT is still a sign of strength for a peer power nation. So here to stay for a while yet.

I think that 140mm cal. is over optimal. Bear in mind the ever evolving co-ordination between drones (UAVs), A.I., smaller delivery systems, with awesome punch, more efficient LASERs that at least destroy or disrupt sensors and more over the next fifty years.
A tank's weak point is not the weapon itself but ITS DEFENSE against any weapon that breaks through It´s shell!!!
