    The screws holding the metal plate are faulty. Since it cannot print, the temperature increases. It was installed incorrectly. Asus service replaces the screws.

      Hi! I would suggest you buy 2. Because you also have to change the one on the heatsink (@4:40 the gray thermal strap on the left), which I forgot to say in the video. 2 pads should be enough, so you don't have to cut pads for each chip individually as I did, you can just use straps of pads. If you do it correctly and change the paste as well, I think you will get a drop of 10 deg on GPU, and 20 degs on mem. I think it is worth the trouble. Is your memory Micron or Samsung?

      That would be awesome! Let me know how it goes, however I am not convinced it would be much better, since the radiator is small and cannot dissipate thst much heat, but it would definetly be interesting to see the results!

    sorry to bother you again but I am about to buy the thermals pads and I looked somethings up and it says that you need to use 2 mm for the backplate so do I need to have:
    2 x Gelid Solutions GP-Ultimate Thermal pad 120x20x1.5mm
    1 x Gelid Solutions GP-Ultimate Thermal pad 120x20x2.0mm
    is this what i need or can i drop 1 of the 2 1,5 mm?

    • @BMasterBM1
      @BMasterBM1  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, the 1.5mm is for the memory chips on the gpu side and you need 2 straps. For the backplate i used 3mm, however i think 2 mm is even better and you are going to need 1 strap. Make sure to clean all the oil left from the old pads. Good luck!

    Hi!
    Gonna do this fix in a short while as I found my VRM mosfets pad torn to pieces so I was wondering if I’d be good to go with 2 strips of 120x20mm, one for those specific mosfets and one for the 8 memory chips + the memory mosfets. I’ll change the pads squished between the backplate and the PCB later on cuz I’m currently tight on budget.

      here I am with the update. I only put a new Gelid pad on the VRM mosfets where the old one was torn apart. The GPU used to ramp up to 80° core / 110° junction real quick as soon as it hit full usage + it was hell of an airplane jet engine grade loud (that being undervolted to 1900mHz / 1020 mV. Now it goes nowhere above 73° core / 91° junction stock, being really quiet. Didn’t have time to test it undervolted.
