My Visuals for 'Nothing But Thieves' at Ziggo Dome - Feb 24, 2024

Back in October 2023 I was asked to do analog video effects on five songs for Nothing But Thieves 'Welcome to the DCC' tour and yesterday for the first time I got to see them in action at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. This was not me VJing, these are pre-recorded visuals that several other artists including myself worked on. Being the specialist in analog video, not to mention needing to use my VJ knowledge to do lots of tweaking/prep in Resolume, I was able to record textures & looks (and even some compositional arrangement like in Greatest Riffs) to lift some of the base content to a higher dimension 🤠

This project was also made more complicated by the fact that the resolution of all the LED panels put together was something close to 4K, yet much wider than a 16:9 aspect ratio. This meant I had to do some cropping and stitching using multiple takes of effects recordings to cover the entire area - and that for a task like City Haunts I could not simply just record one take of analog effects on the source material and call it a day.
I really learned a lot from this project and ultimately it led me to buying a new laptop with much better specs afterwards 😅 now I can do detail-preserving upscale in After Effects without needing to wait for hours

Hi, I was at both the Friday and Saturday night shows (because NBT are the best band on the planet and I can’t get enough of them live 😁) and just wanted to say you did a great job! This video popped up on UA-cam and I was interested to see who was responsible for the incredible visuals, they were amazing and really added to the experience. I found myself watching them sometimes instead of the band!
