my first casio was a DB-56W . bought it 1993 for about 50 euro todays money .
last year i installed its 3rd battery .
1996 i joined the army . obligatory 18 months here in greece .
special forces 1st parachute division .
it went through all of hard training , swimming , mud etc etc .
still own it still going tough.
i used to store coordinates , codes and various mil info

I literally just got my radio solar square GWM5610U gshock last night and I have to say, I already find myself loving it. I love how no brainer it is, I can literally beat it up, never worry about it and with it being radio and solar, even more dummy proof. Your Casio top 10 I literally have no complaints with. I think the only thing missing is the Casio Duro, I love that watch and it's absolutely the best diver for the money.
I got mine recently as well. The GWM5610U is absolutely brilliant.
I have a 5600 from the mid 1980’s with the metal case that still works. I also have the calculator model but the band has dried out and broken. I have the DW 290 as well. Great review! Have a great day!
I've become a big fan of your channel mainly because of the wide array watches you discuss, and because you spend a lot of time on G-Shocks. I'm a big fan, of them, owning 15, and your enthusiasm for them always reminds me why I became so enamored with them, too. Keep up the good work, sir!
The watch that attracts the most attention for me is a Casio ProTrek ALT-7000. My wife gave it to me back in 1994. I think it was the first watch to wear the Pro Trek name. It's a Japan market exclusive and they're pretty hard to find. It has a stainless steel case with brass pushers. Mine is now nearly 30 years old, still works perfectly, and I wear it all the time.

I have 3 more suggestions
1. The F-105w if you can't get the W86.
2. A-168w has EL light. I like it better over the A-158w.
3. W800h this one displays the whole info on the screen, even the year. Only the light kinda sucks.

Yes I agree with you, I have the A168 and the F105, both very good watches in my collection.
Another great retro Casio is the A158WEA-9CF. A slimmer version of the A158, it also comes with the H style bracelet and has a gold/tan face, giving it a real 70-80's vibe. Another great thing, it has normal lugs so you can easily swap most 18mm bracelets or straps onto it.
I'm not into the digital Casios, but my first quartz watch was the analog Casio EF 121 and it still puts a smile on my face when I wear it. It doesn't get a lot of attention, but is great looking allrounder - well-finished, lumed, great size, has a 10 year battery life and is an absolute strap monster. Currently goes for about 50 EUR.
The best Casio ever is the SGW-100.
Time, day/date, world time, stopwatch, timer, 5 alarms, 200m water resistance, EL backlight, compass, thermometer.
All for around $40usd.
The absolute best Casio. Prove me wrong.
You don’t get that much function and performance out of any other sub $50 watch.
Mine has been going strong and still looks almost new after 10 yrs of near daily wear. I named him Walter.
Yesterday lost my G Shock AWG100, after over 12 years of constant use and faithful service 😢😢 Was swimming in the sea and somehow came loose, slipped off and sank to the bottom 😢😢Still haven't gotten over it

Another Great video Russ, thank you kindly! For me, Casio is easily one of, if my my top favourite brands of all time. My modest collection is mostly composed of Casio ranging from the ae-1200 to the Oceanus. Truly an amazing brand for their heritage, innovation, and approach. What amazes me is that the company that makes the humble F91W also makes the Oceanus - A truly top-tier watch that gives many high-end Swiss brands a run for their money.

I love my casio analogue/digital dress watch in silver I bought about 15/20 years ago for a wedding back then casio was my go to brand because if you can believe it it was retro and cheap didn't realise I was a casio collecter back then fast forward to 2024 and they all sit proudly in my watch box casio as well as swatch watches were part of my childhood in the 80's used to gaze at them in wonder in the argos catalogue and ratners window great days atb MWC 😀👍
My personal favourite is the AW168 I love the size, just that little bit bigger than the F91, and it suits my wrist better. The colours on the silver version (the only one to have imo😮) look great and it has the best back-light. Awesome watch ❤❤😊

I have the A168WEMB in gunmetal with the mesh bracelet and consider it the best looking in my collection. If you want a beater version, of the 168, the W86 has the same module.

Another underrated Casio I really enjoy is the W800. Larger size with big pushers than the F91W, 100M water resistance, year, month and day, 1 alarm, dual time zone, 10-year battery, and much better backlight. All for a similar price for the F91W.
And a somewhat inaccurate module, unfortunately. My W-800H is 24 s/mo slow.
Other than that, it's cool. It can be hacked to enable 5 alarms and interval timer. And I did it.
I'll bet you a million quid the f91 is every bit as water resistant as your w800

Great list, problem is most are too small. Have been on a Casio binge of late, but I bought bigger and more recent models. Suit my tastes better, to wit: AE-1500WHX, WS-1500H, MWD-100H, DW-291H. And that is what’s great about Casio, their line is so extensive there’s almost surely something for everyone.
I always recommend the Casio WS220, which is basically their version of the Timex Ironman but with much larger lap memory, and a tough solar movement. It is great for runners or swimmers. I also really like the DW291, which is basically the poor man’s King of G. The amber light on that one is perhaps the brightest I have seen in a budget Casio.
This! also I love using red watch and WS220 so far is still best looking red digital watch
FE10-1A My everyday sleep and alarm watch. It's so comfortable, plus it's the one I had as a kid, so special for me.
My favorite is Tough Solar AQ -S81OW wore at work almost everyday for years $28 didn't need a g shock and of course the Duro but you can't go wrong with any of your choices great video thanks

If you ever fancy reviewing something a bit leftfield but still on-topic Casio esque... I have an Elektronika ЧН-55 I can send you mate, they're still in production after all these years. Basically a Soviet F-91W but the case is made from steel and the backlight actually works!
Currently in crete on my jols. The main stay watch which is worn everyday is my truested casio g shock 5610. Been in sea, pool, bottom of pool with kids and covered in lots of suncream. Truly best watch i own.

Initially put off by your transition clips but now it definitely feels like your identity lol. I especially love your affordable watches videos, especially casio or maybe only casio lol. I would add to these also the Casio F105W - basically, the F91W with excellent elecroluminescence backlight, but the very same retro look and simple, but so useful, functions.

I love Casio's, Russ. Went back to them in 2021 with an A163 I bought as a beater. Have 29 and counting, including 8 of those just featured. And yes, I put the bull bar on my W218H, thanks to you.
Nice list. For me the pilot slide rule is their #1 value, MTP4500D-1av. Then the world timer on metal bracelet. The slide rule bezel watch is substantial, $60 at the casiostore. Crazy value. You could wear it to the welding shop or a fancy dinner place in Paris.
I recently bought an ae1200 fully expecting not to like it much due to the low cost and materials, but i bloody love it! Just trying to decide whether to keep it as intended or pimp it with an SKX mod kit 🤔
Just got an A1200, I'm defo gonna mod with a skx SS body, it will look awesome, have a few Casio watches, but this is my new favourite. I've put a screen protector on for now, even though I won't wear till I've modded it.

I've just bought a Casio GA-2100 and it's now my favourite watch. It was probably just a bit outside the price range for your list but it's a fantastic all rounder watch that I can wear with anything. I wasn't bowled over when I saw it online but when I got it in my hand it looks and feels like a very cool and classy watch.
Yeah! it wasn't until I bought the stainless steel version last year did I realise just how good it is! Definitely not a legible Gshock or Casio and the lcd screen I don't think I've ever used before but it does look cool!!!!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I think the day and date at a glance is useful but yes I kind of agree about the LCD, I'm not using that for the time, alarm, stopwatch etc. With modern phones, I'm only wearing a watch to easily see the time at a glance, it looks cool and I can jump in the pool with it on or knock it about when I'm working and not stress about it, it'll either survive or it's cheap enough to buy another. The fact it looks good if I'm wearing a suit or if I'm at the beach is what I like about it the most. I don't know if I've owned another watch that I can wear 24/7 with anything and for any occasion, quite as well as this one.

Great list :). I actually love the orange light on the Casio Royale. The Duro is high up there for me, as well (especially after adding the oyster style bracelet, from Island Watch)
Chris I hear ya but when you buy all these Casios with the same corner led light and they can do better than the 16 pound W86 , it’s sad Casio are stopping using electro illuminesance any more
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I totally feel you, my friend. At least they put the orange lights on two corners and made it a little brighter? Haha. Four corners would’ve been clutch in absence of the illuminator, but you know how against change they are, with some of the classics (ie F91W)
The DW5600E is my favorite G-Shock. I added a JaysAndKays bully bar and watch strap adapter with a Barton Elite silicon strap. I even added a longer Adjust button from a sacrificial Casio "something model" from Walmart. I have a small wrist so the only other G-Shocks I own are a GA2100 and a GAB2100.
Casios last forever. Its amazing how a watch can last so long. Casio is a true legend and should be in the watch hall of fame. One of the greatest watch brands of all time!

Brilliant collection of fun timepieces Russell. Can you remember the AA 85? Stainless steel case and strap. Dual display with either a digital or full dial analogue display - all done with LCD. Funky, exploding star animation when the alarm went off. I had one brand new in about 1982 and loved it. Wish I still had it now 😢
No love for the AE1500WH-1AV? That's my favorite Casio. I even wear it more than my 5600 (buttons, buttons, argh...). It's G-Shockish, Large easy to read display, 2 led's for lighting and it has all the features I need. Got mine for $22 US.
My 218H has a great backlight. And mine is the nylon strap model. It's my outdoor, working in the yard beater. And in tests I've run, it only loses about half a second over 30 days.
I've got an A158 from the 90's that I found at an estate sale. Small scratch on the screen, but once I cleaned it all up, it looks great and fits really well with the strap adjustments.
Ahhh I saw you on watchfinder, heh. When you cast your vote for G shock as the most iconic watch ever made ( or some such), I yelled "Hell Yes!" at my computer. 1. I could not agree more, G shock (Casio) is the most important watch maker in my life. When it comes time to spend luxury money on a watch, I will probably buy an MRG model of some type. I'd just much rather give Casio my money than a Swiss maker. 2. The looks on both their faces was amazing. Keep it up!
Another top video Russel. I have too many Casio and G-Shock watches to decide on a top 10 as it keeps changing and I'd never finish my list before bed time. Needless to say I have most of the models that you mention with a slight likelihood of getting one or ten more at some point. I could add some more highly recommended models but again I would run out of time. Needless to say I'm unsure if you can buy a bad Casio. Many thanks for sharing.

With Casio's you get what you pay for and much much more. I can't believe my childhood G-Shock still works to this day.
Got a couple of decade old G-Shocks hope I can pass this on someday. In the process of converting the missus to become a casio fan she likes the Casioak and a few Baby Gs and using my ol Mudman for work.

What about the Casio dw6600? I've had mine for years, and there's never been any issues with it, it's comfortable, and now, retro cool.
Great list, but I will add (from the watches they still sell) the w-800h, it feels like a modern, resin version of the W-720 / W-780. It miss the countdown timer, but if you make a little mod (just taking off a drop of tin alloy from the movement) you have it back! And the led backlight is quite good! And, 100 meters of water resistance. Big pushers, square look, clear display with big numbers but not weirdos like Timex... Try one, you'll love it too!
I've got the Casio explorer from 1 of your previous videos 😆. It's perfect for my twig wrist. It's such good value I'm currently waiting for a NATO strap to be delivered which is almost half the cost of the watch 🤣

Great list! The a158 (and the gold a168? Is a must have). Also, when talking about Casios that even snobs can't hate, the duro should be on that list. It's just such a charming watch that simultaneously doesn't take itself too seriously and plays the full part of a "real" dive watch. I cannot help but smile every time I see it on my wrist. It hangs with the big boys and comes from legendary Casio. I've owned mine for about 8 years and continue to fall deeper in love the longer I own it. I know the size is not for everyone, but I hear they are releasing a 38 or 39mm version. Even still, I think (for me) that size would take away from the charm. On my wrist it's just big enough to be fun and eye catching and still look incredible.
I wanna get one of those spinny Casio Display Cases Like Russ has in the background usually.. How much you think they are?.. bet they ain't cheapish?

I know its not a wishing show, but I would like to see the same show with the cheap Casio analogs, too. Im absolutely in love with my MWA-100H-1A, and I have half a dozen different MQ-24 variants, including the "Pope Francis" one (ofc the digitals are sitting next to them). There is the "Duro", the "Apple Troll", the MRW-200 mini diver and his 50mm bro (the 210), and so on - you know them better 🤪

I got my dw5600 about 3 years ago because it was my childhood dream watch back then in the 80’s. Ever since i just can’t put it down. Somehow that’s what i want to wearing all the time. I have antique watches, vintage watches and other analog chronographs but the dw5600 is what I wearing the most. I don’t know why…..
Your channel is dangerous!! I just got into watches this year and have too many watches already. BUT since the G-Shock turned 40 this year and I happened to be on the lookout for a watch released the year of my bday (I turned 40 as well this year) I said, well ya know I should get a g-shock. Now I have two GST-B400 but then thought, ya know I need the square model to REALLY celebrate the occasion, and here I am not watching a lot of your Casio videos lol

The W168 outshines the W158 by far literally!
The only time you use the light on a watch is when its so dark you cant see the time. I have never had problems seeing the time in the dark with the casio f91w. The light could be better yes, but part of why i love this watch is because it was left pretty much unchanged since its release. Other "upgraded" versions of the f91w are absolutely great watches but do not have the same charm. They just do not feel the same or as good to wear in my opinion.
All casios are great though

Casioak is a nice watch my friend but would be a bit pricey . It’s more form and the looks over function for me. The Duro? Had was too big, sold it. Good though
you gotta love a Casio i wear a AEQ-110 with orange indices and orange/white hands for work but planning to buy more they are a few spondolees more where i dwell but still a bargin none the less .

I'm utterly stunned that no one talks about the EFA-120. It's such a stunner of a watch, with both analog & digital, with a ton of features including a thermometer & hourly chime.

Fantastic selection! I've added several to my buy list. Do you have any affiliate links to these models? Unfortunately, the metallic calculator models and the A120WE don't appear to be available in the U.S. just yet. I would especially like to get a gold metallic in the CA53-style case, and not the larger DBC611-style case.
