In supermarkets in Italy the prices are displayed both with the price of the product and with the price per unit of measurement: e.g. Kilo or litre. This helps as the packages are not the same as each other regarding weight or capacity.
Try this typical Sicilian salad: Ingredients 4 oranges 2 fennels 1 Tropea red onion 1 handful of black olives juice of one orange extra virgin olive oil salt and black pepper a few mint leaves Preparation Peel the onion and cut it into thin slices. Wash and peel the oranges, removing the white skin and seeds, if present. Cut them into slices about ½ cm thick and place them on a serving plate. Wash and cut the fennel into thin slices and spread them over the oranges. Scatter the onions on top and mix the orange juice with oil, salt and freshly ground black pepper. Drizzle the salad with this emulsion and complete with mint leaves on top. Allow to stand for about ten minutes, then enjoy.
Such a great video! I'm sorry I haven't been watching videos for a while but I've been moving my dad out of his house and into mine. I haven't done much on my own channel either. Now, I have more time, so hopefully I can watch more often. I would love to see a taste test. Hope you feel better!
VAT (value-added tax), which here in Italy is already added to the price. 4% is for basic necessities, like food, while the max is 22% for stuff like clothes and electronics.
Barilla is 1 euro 16 cents for 1usd and 25 cents. So the prices and amounts need to be translated for other countries. Ounces instead of grams are used in the USA.
@@MTB214 good job! in the future i will keep in mind the american measuring system:)) but i cant promise anything because I dont have so much time editing these days :DDD
@@barbart_ I totally understand. I just looked and barilla pasta has ounces and grams on the label. 16 ounces equals one pound. 28.35 grams is one ounce.
It’s a good thing you don’t have lot of choices for soda. In general, europeans are healthier than Americans. I buy Nociollata too instead of nutella 😊yes, please to the taste test. Thanks for the video!!!
Us prices have really gone up. I pd of hamburger good quality is about 5 us dollars per pound. I was there before the euro Do you thing the euro is better for you country😊
Please remember to wear gloves when you pick up fruits and vegetables. It is mandatory by law. You can find them next to the nylon sackets

Exactly! Important info, thank you!!
👍🇮🇹👍😁Welcome in Italy because Italy is an open-air museum for all 🥰🫠
Lol
My favorite Italian candy is baci. I ate a lot when I was there in the navy
Ah yes baci is really famous here! And I love the little messages inside:)
I would love to see you do a taste test of the chips! And I'm so jealous of the prices. They are so much better than in Hungary!
Well Hungary is not doing so great these days…but it’s insane how life starts to be cheaper in Italy 😂
Fun video , greeting from Nashville TN USA
Glad you enjoyed it! How are the prices compared to Nashville?
Fennel is my favourite sliced with olives and a lemony dressing amazing!

So? Would you like an Italian snack taste test?:)
On the receipt, between the price for an item and the name of the item is a percentage. What does the percentage mean?

Thanks for answering 💖

Usually when I watch American channels I just google the prices to count how much is that in euro:) same with kg. Super fast:)
@@barbart_ I did that too as I watched.

Not for other country . For USA. All the world use metric . 3 nation on 180 use imperial : USA , Liberia and Myanmar.
Well, I think it was a lot less than you'd have paid in Los Angeles.
I imagine! But don’t forget that the average salary is also lower in Italy! Maybe I should make a video about that?😅
In America, Barilla is sold at Wal-Marts all over.
Yes, Barilla is well known all over the world but it’s not a really good pasta..it’s not bad but I would take something else if I can:)
Wow- prices for basic items are more than double in the US.
I imagine… but your salary is also almost double!
Taste testing would be great!!
Okay:) are you interested in something specific?:)
Snacks would be great!
Cheaper than australia. I am here in italy now n love shopping for food. I feel like bringing home the whole supermarket. 😂
Oh yeah I know the feeling!! Try to bring cheese and salami (soppressa) they are good for a long time! And home made dry pasta:) have fun!!!

Mi piace quando parli Italiano! Sto imparando la lingua.
Sono contenta:) continua così!
Too expensive for items I would never buy anyway, but thanks for sharing
lol okay Edward
Hi @Barbart. Thanks for recommending my channel on relocation to Italy and how much it costs to move to Italy and living in Italy .
I don’t think I did that:)))

For Hungary? It’s hard to answer I really don’t know. I think this is not the time to change from forint to euro.
il macinato è 60% mucca e 40% maiale 🙂. lo si usa di solito per fare il ragu
Grazie per il commento!:) da ora in poi farò così
