I use the old pad between the channel locks and piston/pistons No risk of damage

Matt Clemons for sure. Either way, if you’re careful it’s no biggie

    Thanks for the video,
I noticed you have after market rims on your rental, can you share with us your experience with factory rims vs other brands? I used to have a bike for buddies to fly in and ride with me, it's like they felt like superman, they would try anything and just toss bike into the ground, and went from finesse riders to bashers, I don't do that anymore. I'm sure rentals might share the same fate(and the stories you could tell about returned bikes). Having rentals, you know what will survive(and don't let a bike go to a OK RACE!!), lol.
I have a front wheel that has to many taco's, I've been looking for a stock one for sale locally, but maybe a warp9 or a tusk would work too.

Brad Lu great question. I generally like oem stuff best for strength and weight. I git these Warp 9’s used foe cheap. They are pretty good but a little heavy. The inexpensive stuff is just that, inexpensive. But to have a spare set, I am a fan

Should say front brake pads. No need to take caliper off the rear.

A great way to have health issues later in life is to spray that brake cleaner on your hands and breath it in. Use soap and water with a long brissal brush and it's nice and clean and the brake cleaner doesn't make all of the finishes look old. If you MUST use brake cleaner, use rubber gloves and PPE for your breathing. This is really bad for you.

Absolutely no reason to pull the caliper off. You can change front and rear pads with no tools in less than 5 minutes. Just push against the caliper to get the piston in, pull the clips off with your fingers, slide the old pads out and slide the new pads in. This is exactly how the owners manual says to do it as well. Guess this guy never read it.

He stated several times that they were still muddy. He’s cleaning the caliper as well. Perfect reason to remove a caliper.

Thanks. I thought I mentioned that. And, it's never a bad idea to remove it and look at everything.

Keyboard warrior alert! I bet you never miss a moment to be a dick to someone . He took the caliper off to clean it dummy! I bet you would have caught that if you weren't the type that looks to be an asshole as soon as possible. Cheers!
