What sort of bhp are you making engine wise to strip 4th gear like that ? You can clearly see that the shaft has markings on where the input shaft support has been touching
Unfortunately the insert and support is snake oil. Parts designed to take money. True solution is a gearset, either upgraded or a tdi gearset and final drive.
@@PostPros If it occurs it'll resemble a slipping clutch. But even if you pin it, or it doesn't slip, it's most likely still going to shred the gear teeth. It seems it'll either shred or spin depending on the tq curve. But ultimately the spinning isn't why it shreds, they're just not strong enough in general.
When you did the 4th gear support, did you take it somewhere to have it done? Is there a template to use? I'm trying to build my box before I grenade it. Not really alot of install info on it.
thought about that...The shafts are pretty much fully submerged in gear oil, so the bearings/gears get a sufficient supply of oil. The inner holes dont really go to anything. I dont think it should be a huge problem.
Keep it up! Great info for my build

do you think pinning the 4th gear to the input shaft would help? Or maybe a keyway cut into the shaft and gear to hold the gear in place?
