Whisky.com tastes the Highland Park Origins. One of the Highland whiskies up from the very north. Another no age whisky not coloured and un chill filtered whisky from the Orkney Islands. It is made from the barley from Scotland.
The nose:
Full sherry, spice and oak, some nuts
The taste:
Strong at the beginning, a strong spiciness from the oak, a metallic dryness (youth)
The finish:
Spicy and oaky
Quite a high price for a no age whisky.

Fascinating to see how distilleries will try to market young whiskys at a premium price.
Haven't seen this one in stores yet. Was not expected that high of a price!
I actually really like this, its really good. it tastes SUPER sherried, very very sweet and rich (not thick body though). I prefer this over the 12 and 18
I like big powerful whiskies.
I love it too.
double sherry means 2 types of sherry casks. For example, oloroso and matusalem
A very intellectual video on highland park.
Why do a lot of distilleries try and cover up the fact it might be a younger whisky. That does not mean it is bad. Has anyone tasted Talisker 6yo??? Fabulous!!
I tasted a 3 year old Millstone. It was great, didn't taste young at all
I like what Kilchoman does: they skip the big number but give you the years distilled and bottled in small print, at least on Loch Gorm.
Because the average whiskey consumer thinks "age=quality". So they'll see a younger aged whiskey and think it isn't worth the money and it may not sell as well
Whenever someone tries to sell you something because it's "mysterious" and "dark", you can be sure most of the money and effort spent on it went into marketing.
Ok, so im drinking this right now and i love it! Lots of mixed reviews here tho. For those who may be more experienced, what are some recommended alternatives to this bottle?
You comment on the beautiful colour, but did not mention if this is coloured or not. E150 does not make whisky better!
+schmazly2 highland park doesnt add e150a in any of its expressions
+Gursewak Singh I own several bottles of 21 - 12 year old, and don't see this labelled on the bottles. I wish they would state non-chill filtered and no colour on the label. HP is a personal favourite, and you just reminded me to have a dram.
They are very costly in India. Almost double. Enjoy bud
Thanks. Have you bought the stuff in this video? I have dedicated myself to only dropping money for age stated whisky.
I had highland park 15 for money like 200 USD.
Interested to try but for that kind of loot, I'll stick with the 18 yr hp. Only 102$ locally
That's a cool 80$ less than here :\ Have a glass to my health
I tried the Dark Origins, and my guess is that's it's a 5 year old whisky. Not bad, but not worth the price.
Matt Waller what do you recommend as an alternative to this particular bottle?
Hp 12 is cheaper and far superior.
This is selling for 106 euros at my local Intermarche here in France. Seems like a con. When I see all the acknowledged great whiskies I could buy for far less than that, I have to say, no thanks Highland Park.
1:48 hahahaha
I love these reviews but have to mute the volume every time he tastes the whiskey.
After trying this, I will always go back to the HP 12yr Old. This Dark Origins is Awful.
