    June 25th this year we published our video about the new Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze "Boutique Edition" Reference 79012M fitted with a bronze bracelet. The Black Bay Bronze presents entirely satin-brushed finishes that guarantee the homogeneous development of this patina. The 4K-video included lume-, pool-, wrist-shots and all technical information. If you haven't watched the video yet, please do so... here is the link: • TUDOR BLACK BAY FIFTY-...
    Tudor's choice of a "living" metal - in this case a high-performance aluminium bronze alloy used particularly in naval engineering for submerged parts required to demonstrate a high level of resistance to corrosion such as propellers, for example - ensures the development of a subtle and unique patina on the case of every watch to match its user’s habits. And this is exactly what happened the last four months. I was wearing the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze "Boutique Edition" Reference 79012M on a very regular base and therewith ageing it. In the video you will discover how it looked like and I will show you how to clean the diver. I have been using Kukident. Normally you use the Kukident tablets to clean you third teeth (dental prosthesis), but they also do a great job cleaning a bronze case.
    While Tudor has been exploring bronze in its collection for several years, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze model (100% the same bronze alloy as used so far) marks the first time that the litte sister of Rolex has produced a bracelet entirely from bronze. Its satin-brushed links adopting the style of Tudor bracelets of the 1950s and '60s, with rivets, are coordinated with the case and will develop a patina at the same pace. A new bronze clasp, also satin-brushed, with a redesigned cover and Tudor "T-fit" rapid adjustment system for the length, completes the total bronze look. Easy to use, requiring no tools and offering 5 positions, this practical system allows wearers of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze to carry out a fine, instant adjustment on an adjustment window along the entire length of the 8 mm bracelet.

    I also have this watch. A little bit of Brasso and a microfibre cloth = looks almost brand new after about 2 minutes. VERY easy. And that said - I quite like it once it’s built up some patina too - never gets too bad and gives it a “lived in” look. This is a fabulous watch - people really shouldn’t worry about the patina “issue” (that isn’t an issue 😁)

      I have a bronze IWC watch. Was thinking of using Brasso. It didn't end up polishing the brushed portions of your watch? Was the only concern I had of using Brasso.

    Thank you Alexander for this update on the bronze. As a tudor collector, this video has come in very useful so the changing patina has prevented me in purchasing one. Now seeing how easy it is to restore it back to the original condition, I have the initiative to go and find one for sale now. Many thanks

      I am very happy to read this Richard. You can even improve the cleaning by just letting the watch longer in that “bath” … I wanted to show the immediate effect in the video, so I limited the process to “only” one hour… let me know if you have any questions…

    i just received my black bay 58 bronze today and what a fantastic looking watch. Ok what i have done to try and prevent any patina and try to keep it looking as good as new is use renaissance micro crysatalline wax polish on the bracelet and watch head, clear wax and very easy to apply with a micro fibre cloth. I removed the bracelet and thoroughly applied a good coat of wax to the inside and outside of the bracelet , polished it off and it buffs up as good as the original tudor finish so don`t be scared to do it. i then used a cotton bud to get to the niggly bits around the bezel and lugs and applied a good amount over the case and sides. again polishes off very easily. i did this twice and then re assembled the watch. looks great and hopefully has some protection. will do this probably once a month and see how the watch looks and adjust waxing accordingly. the wax is available on amazon and is very well tried and tested . hope this helps...

    Hi Alexander, another great video thank you. A couple of things I would add is if you use a tooth brush it will take off more of the patina, and I would recommend also trying a different method using the juice of a full lemon and a can of soda, I believe gives you a better result, I did the first video on cleaning the patina from a Black Bay over a year ago, you can see my results, but please disregard the polishing part of the video, I know some of you will scold me on that, but it's my watch i have no plans of selling it or care about what value you might think it went down to, i like the way it looks and bonus it keeps the patina from coming back.😉

    • @WatchAdvisor

      I have tried with another bronze watch lemon juice and was not satisfied at all… these Kukident tabs are cleaning softly and effective… the watch was only one hour in that “bath” and I did not use any additional tools to clean it and it already looked really good… so one should keep it just a bit longer in that “bath” an the results will be perfect… my intention was to show how easy it is to clean a bronze watch even in only one hour time…

    Hi again, watch still looks like new after four weeks of constant use. I really do think this is a great piece with this colour combination. I visited my local Rolex authorised dealer today trying on a two tone submariner and and coral red oyster, beautiful watches, the ad had never handled a bb58 bronze and was very impressed . A great watch , if you want to keep it looking new just clear wax it and enjoy . Quick clean with a fibre cloth will also keep it in great shape . Thanks again for the video, take care.

    Quick update, watch is looking like new still, I haven’t immersed the watch in water as I use it as my best watch and want to look after it as keeping at looking as it left the factory. The bracelet is still factory fresh on the inside and the clasp is again shiny as new . The wax in my opinion is a must if you want to keep the factory look.
    Beautiful watch with the amazing brown face and bezel insert , looks amazing with nice lighting in restaurants ect . The best Tudor release to date in my opinion.

    Many thanks Alexander for showing us the patina on your watch worn over the past months. In new condition it looks great but over time it adds character to the watch and bracelet. If I pulled the trigger on this piece I'd not 'clean' it as it's condition would reflect my journey with the watch. It would be interesting how well over time the anodized aluminium bezel stands up to the chemical cleaning so as I say if I purchased one it would be worn and enjoyed as the watch and I age.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  2 роки тому

      If it would be mine I would not have cleaned it. Firstly you sold me on the Rado Bronze when it first came out. May I suggest anyone interested in a bronze Diver to give it a look. It's considerably less expensive and looks great and has a better depth rating. It also has quick change straps.
    That all said I wonder if after the first 30 minute soak you might use a soft tooth brush to finish off those last stubborn sports and shorten the cleaning process.
    As for me I have had my Rado about 17 months it looks great and I don't plan on cleaning it. The patina makes it look like it's been on a diving rig or around the docks and 🚢 s. Just the look this desktop diver was going for, oh and the Rado uses a aluminum Bronze alloy also with with a titanium back.

      Using a soft brush of course would have accelerated the cleaning process… but I intentionally did not do it to show how efficient already in one single hour you can clean a bronze watch… I wanted to exclude all separate efforts and I think the result is impressive…

    In the videos, the watch looks great. I love my Navy Blue Black Bay 58. I managed to order this version from a boutique. When it arrived, I could not warm up to it (I tried). You need to wear mostly earth-tone clothing. It was never going to work with my blue shirts (in the videos, it's hard to understand this). Many photos make it look dark, like it would go with a wider variety of clothing. In person (in most daylight), the bezel looks like a beautiful copper, and the chocolate brown on the dial dominates it. I even tried my shirts that are camouflage green. The combination did not pop for me. I dumped this watch quickly within a day (at a significant loss). DO NOT ORDER IT ONLINE WITHOUT TRYING IT ON FIRST. It's not the bronze metal that is the problem. It's the copper/chocolate combination on the bezel and dial. More than any other Black Bay, try this on before buying.

    For this piece, is it good to leave patina all alone? Is it possible to clean the watch without harm to patina? I never owned a bronze watch before.

    • @WatchAdvisor

      Patina does no harm to the watch, just changes the look of it... If you wish to clean it you can always do it easily

    • @MrPatrikvideo
      @MrPatrikvideo 2 роки тому

      Patina will protect the surface of the metal. If you want to clean the watch without removing patina, you can just use a soft cloth to clean it. People remove patina because they want it to look new or they want to start the new patina process.

    Hi, I’ve got same bronze mix alloy watcth @#ezawatch model Selander full bronze case with steel back case and it’s like your Tudor black bay this kind off bronze CUAI9)doesn’t goes green like the other bronze alloy mixes, the bracelets are not fully bronze , only the pin buckle clasp and from what I’ve seen in your Tudor it goes exactly the same when I want it to take out the ( patina, oxidation etc.) just use a little of silver product in a small quantity on a 100 % cotton piece of cloth very carefully then gently use another micro fiber just to bring it back like new that’s it ! Didn’t know about that solution 👍 next time have to do it ( do you use warm water? How long? ) and by the way how is your Sinn 105 UTC is going on ? I’ve a 104 and want to buy the 105 UTC but not sure if the black dial ( like my 104) is cool or a white dial ? By the way what do you think about the bead blasted case and H link bracelets ? Love the new Longines I’ve review in Longines factory but a push pin bracelet come on ?!
    Does it sctrach it easy or are ok ? All the best and keep your channel always like this ! 💯👍

    Pure bronze doesnt exist. Bronze is an alloy by definition. Usually bronze is made by alloying Copper with Tin or with Aluminum.
