36:15 Thank you!
Love the comment about using "lower end parts" because they'll open up riding to others who normally couldn't or wouldn't. It's all about the experience!
YOU LIKED MY COMMENT HUH?
I love that you are breathing new life into older bikes. Just because they are not the latest tech does not take away from the quality of the past. Great hobby and you should be very proud of your rebuilds.
I would enjoy seeing these restored bikes to be taken on a ride.
My thoughts exactly.
I just want to say "invest" in a helmet is a brillaint way to tell someone to get a helmet. Got in an accident last month and my helmet didn't just save my brain but also a ton of hospital bills
One of the safest investments out there! Hope you've healed up
I'm still recovering from a bad concussion in February that doesn't sound anywhere near yours but it fully put me in camp full-face every on trail. Hoping for your full recovery.
I like the change and would 100% watch you ride again. I also think you don’t have to apologize for not being as fit as other you tubers it’s your own channel so who cares if it’s good content I will watch regardless
Old bikes and mid/low range components still can bring nice ride experiences. Not always this is related with brands or models. A rebuild like this it's related to ride feelings, not competition nor those adrenalinic videos of riders doing big jumps on a firetrack...
I just wanted to say I LOVE the white color scheme
I have wanted to start a "fix-it" channel for a long time now, seeing your videos are very inspiring. The ride video I think is a great idea every so often, between 5-10 videos. Channel updates, project background updates, general channel related vlogging basically. BikeBlogger is a great example of this and a good channel. Keep it up man!
Nice trails and a lovely looking bike. :-)
As a poor person. I always built my own bikes. The old parts, particularly 26, wheels, frames and forks is a really cheap way to get into and stay on bikes. Marzochi forks are always a good cheap long lasting fork.
I have an old rockshox judy xc fork. That sits in a box. Occasionally put on a bike. Now and then. Well over 10.000 mile on it. Managed to pick up some mint condition beautiful 26" mavic crossmax SLR's for a third of original price. And an old marin quad Tara frame for less than £100. Powder coated black..:-)
The retro stuff is pretty awesome.
Now I could go and buy a £4000 bike if I wanted. But still search around eBay and build myself.
Still on 26" wheels though.
I'm riding 26 inches as well on a cannondale Gemini 1000 boxxer rock shocks and fox vanilla rc on rear it's my second bike I'm 33 I love this bike man but I'm ready for the carbon fiber
A lot of people complain, but they should have seen that bike before you brought it back to life..awesome job!
I think white was the only option. Sick build 👌
Haven't even watched yet and I just have to say, I'd love to see riding videos! Thank you so much for the great content.
Dude, you do you forget the haters. Its you build period. Keep them up. Cant wait to see the next one.
I have two of these and this a master piece. He has done Cannondale well. Thanks for the work! I'm thinking about a lefty ocho on my team V. Team red of course.
Building up older bikes is sick. It's way more interesting to see someone build up something cool than watch another of the 100 videos about the latest $10,000 bike. Fuck all the haters
It's cool to see the build being ridden! It's cool hearing the back story if the build! I like the practicality of your channel. A lot of the channels out there use the best stuff which people like me can't afford. Keep up the great work!
You are a good man thinking about other people's feelings.
Thoroughly enjoy your channel. Glad to see you getting out for a spin. You deserve to enjoy the results of your effort. Thank you for sharing your passion and ideas. Looking forward to seeing what you brainstorm up next.
LOVE seeing an old bike brought back to life and ridden. worth doing more of these in the future imo
Love it! I restored my 2004 Orange SebZero (that I was about to sell for probably little to nothing), it probably actually cost more than buying a new HT but was so rewarding and worth it - totally get it, great end result.
You did a perfect job of making this video interesting and entertaining. I think you should do these kind of videos more often.
Most definitely love them build videos but the riding and comments every now and then is a perfect addition and makes it more wholesome somewhat... Lol... Keep it up!
‘Joy of the journey!’ Agree!
I own a Cannondale Super V 900 and bought it in 1998. After all these years of mountainbiking everywere i still ride my Super V to my work and back. The suspension is still orjginal and the other stuff is upgraded.
I was thrilled to see how you build this awsome bike from the beginning.
My FOX Vanilla R is original and hopefully it stays this way. There aren't a lot of rear shox around anymore.
Great job!!!!👍🏻👍🏻
A 'Project Ride' is a great idea. I really enjoyed seeing this follow-up having watched the rebuild video. Interesting to hear of your experience and your comments and thoughts. Any bike, old or brand new, that puts a smile on someone's face on the trail is better than a bike in landfill. Keep up the good work and best of luck with this channel!
Really enjoyed both the build and the ride video. The ride because I like the conversation and q&a. I also appreciate repairing versus replacing attitude. I subscribed! Keep up the good work.
I love this riding conversation 😁 plz do more so I can listen to you!
Beautiful custom V re build. That video was brilliant to watch. Thank you Sir. I subscribed after that mesmerizing experience.!
Everything from the format of your rebuilds to this more relaxed your Q & A video’s are great. Just from this video I figured out how to potentially update my wife’s Gary Fisher Sugar 4. And I’m always like to see people keep the budget in mind!
Great rebuild, top work!
Love seeing your projects on the trails!
Frame should be fine with that fork. I put a big marzochi fork on a xc hardtail with even more rake & had no problem or cracks from slamming 20 foot jumps & 6 foot drops to flat for years. These types of setups were very common/popular in the early 2000's and I never saw a cracked frame with this type of set up except on an off brand like a mongoose.
This is so relatable, I finished my old skool build, a very modified Carrera full suss, decent air fork and shock, took it to our local trails with the same see what falls off mentality.. nothing, still in one piece
21 years ago when the bike come out i could not afford it, I bought that my frame for £4 and the rest from spares ...it's alot of fun : )
Old bikes rock!
I love your content. There is something about resurrecting this old bikes that just feels so right. I would really love if you could do a downhill bike video. Keep it up 💪
Great video dude!👍 Thank You for the informative entertainment you provide!❤️🏴
The build is awesome, congrats!
I love this format!
Your doing great. I love the rebuilds. I understand about local mechanics getting it wrong. Keep doing builds and ride videos. I will love them…. Bad shape is excellent… you are out there riding….
I swapped out an SR Suntour fork for a Manitou Markhor straight steer 100mm air fork and it has been fantastic. I agree with you that finding a quality straight steer fork for 27.5 is a real challenge. I really loved your build video. I find the whole powder ocating procesws to be fascinating and you can't argue with the results. Looking forward to great builds in the future.
I love this type of video, bring an older bike back to its former glory. I've done this myself, I did it with a 2001 Gt avalanche 2.0 I loved the frame and the bike but I felt like it was missing that little extra bit. So a lot (more than I'm willing to admit) of money and trying to get parts to my house, I have one killer bike on my hands. I also love how different age groups look at moding out these older bikes, some will say its a good idea and some will say its a huge waste of time and money. but at the end of the day if you like the bike what anybody else says about it doesn't matter. also love the great and quality content.
20k now like 36k😱 super cool vid, and also that you take them for a ride to test is super. I hav 2 90's mtb, now i have a inspiration to try pimp them up😊 cool very cool, thank you for the vids, inspiring
I'll admit I didn't really watch the riding. I love the Q&A while biking though, would love to see it again when a Q&A is needed. Happy to see these bikes get ridden.
liked the ride / review you have some great trails there.
Great build, came out like new and looks sharp
I love that grip. I don't know his existence. Thanks for the discover. Next bike please :P
Thanks for answering our questions !
Keep up the excellent work. Love how you customize, build, and show the process. SUBSCRIBED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No doubt you'll hit a million subs in no time
Thank you for the awsome content bro
Dude for years i wanted to rebuild a bike you gave me the motivation to do it
Awesome!
I love the looks of that bike. I have an old Gary Fisher full suspension from 98. I couldn’t afford to upgrade it or buy a new one but wanted to ride. I decided to buy a Schwinn Axum from Walmart. The frame has really modern geometry but the components are cheap. I just fix and upgrade stuff as it breaks and Now I have more fun than I did with my Old one. Plus it got me back out on the trails at minimal cost.
Not a bad idea!
Love this!....coming from a Super V 900 Comp owner. Great channel...subscribed.
Great philosophy and really interesting video, love the build - always great to see someone not defaulting to trashing sr suntour!
Please do more of those riding and talking videos, this one was really good 👍🏼
I bought a older super V some one had their car towed and needed money and I bought a bike for 100 bucks cash. My friend had the newest latest bike gear and wanted to race me. We showed up to a full mountainbike race and I told his wife I was going to smoke him. I ended up wining the bike race by eleven minutes. Gave the bike away after that. Thanks David
Haha. That's awesome.
Love this type of content. I found this type of stuff through oldshovel videos and recently partially re did a 96 Gary Fisher Big Sur I was given. Just waiting on a chain breaker to take some links out to get it dialed
Absolutely incredible.
Thanks!
Чувак!
Продовжуй, у тебе це надзвичайно чудово виходить.

i love that bike !!!! nice job !!!!
Hi there! I think you did a wonderful job. I have a similar Bianchi 26'. That I modernized as much as could. So, when I saw your build. My first thought was. This is awesome. Congratulations. And I hope you can make more bikes like this.
Do you have Instagram?
Cool build! I have a 98 Super V 500 I rebuild into a 1x10 and current building a 2000 Super V800. It’s gonna be 1x10 as well and define become my main bike. I just sold my 2021 Yeti SB130 CLR lol. Yup sure did.
Old bikes are fun and I LUSTED after Super V’s as a teenager!
i like these videos! probably doesn't make sense to do them as much as restoration videos, but it's nice to hear your thoughts on your builds. also is interesting to learn your process as someone who's a bit younger but has very similar interests in bike building. i still remember how long i was deliberating over purchasing a $60 dollar torque wrench. was well worth it in the end. fingers crossed that this also turns into a frame building channel :D
Awesome Just Ride and Enjoy
Love it!
excelent proyect ! im from Peru and im glad to suscribe to your channel its great all.
Welcome aboard!
You will always have some nay sayers no matter what you do. I'm not an expert by any means, but I thought it was a great build and restoration. And to think this is a skill you acquired is even a little more satisfying. Somebody will buy that bike off. Great job, got a subscriber here.
Front suspension worked very good (love Sr Suntour),breaks are well,i see it doesn't have any problem with gear shifting, handle bar looks pretty well, tyres are well for those roads
Cool vid! I appreciate what you do with this and the context was great. The crankset is a thing of beauty and glad you keep to original where you can! Really liked the brown hard tail colour, awesome! Keep up the vids oh and I thought you had some camera skills, you can certainly tell!
Oh and I saw a dream build on extremely popular channel for the first time and was left massively disappointed as he didn’t build the wheels!! Haha
Thanks for your kind words!
Nice vid, cutting in some photos or b roll of bike parts on bike as you mention them would appreciated.
I love that colour of Your bike
Definitely do more ride videos! There's so many build videos that barely show off the bike let alone ride it afterwards.
👍 on ride videos.
You've mentioned about chinese forks and I've been using one a year I think, I've even been in Kasina Bike Park (Poland) and used this fork with a bike I rode. The fork has 130mm bend, air chamber 60-120 psi, 32mm slider, width rebound adjustment, straight tube and it's made fully from aluminum. The fork brand is Himalo. I've had one strange episode with it thou - after fork repeatedly bend with high frequency (when I rode on some rocks and roots down hill) the shock blocked for a moment, but I released some rebound and used brunox and it was fine then. Anyway great work with the V bike, very elegant built :) regards
I'm going to make this comment before even watching the video... I absolutely love idea of the build and just how amazing it turned out. As the only owner of a '92 Cannondale M700 that is about 95% all original and still going strong, I'm a huge fan early American made Cannondales. So please keep up the awesome work on future builds and congratulations on 20 thousand subscribers!
Oh yeah I a SOOOO jealous of you for having an early Jekyll, and making it look great too! If I can ever find a decent frame(or win an auction of e-bay) for an early Jekyll I'd be super happy since they are my favorite bike ever.
Oh yeah, the ride looked like a ton fun too!
Yes! I also love early Jekylls. I've owned three of them. It's the bike I fell in love with mountain biking on.
👍👍👍👍 I know how you feel. I'll keep my M700 going forever. Right now it's slowly getting some much needed love. I'm on the fence about custom painting it , or powder coating it in a super close color match to the original red.
@@BuildaBetterBike Oh yeah, on the idea of making this build and uber V if for some crazy reason no one doesn't buy it(it's out my budget ATM otherwise I'd snag it yesterday!)..Please don't do it, complete Jekyll's are far to hard to come by and too many of them are swing arm less already that were made into Uber V's
You have a tolerable to relaxing voice and info platform , delivery....do what ya like , add cooking , video game review ....yah don't give riding advice but talk and pedal you are natural..... my bro has this bike , but I do the tinkering around here so we will see ...good vids
Just FYI.
With that 49mm headtube you're not limited to straight 1-1/8 budget forks. You can install the Works 2 degree ZS49-EC49 angle set that will allow you to install any modern fork with a tapered steerer. The EC49 lower cup sits external below the headtube, it does raise the stack 10mm up front and the effective slackening is 2.5 degrees as a result.
2.5 degrees from 10mm??
I went from a 100mm to 120mm fork (so stack +20mm) and the HT angle only switched by 1.4 degrees.
@@davidmeloni8282 2 degrees with the angle set and an extra 0.5 degree with the EC49's 10mm thick external lower headset cup.
I love the white
Just new on your channel, and I'm very impressed on the restoration, really like it. Currently, I'm restoring one too, it's a old 2004 full suspension mtb Balance. Love restoring old bikes 😊
Thanks! Best of luck on your build. Do you post progress anywhere?
@@BuildaBetterBikethanks! well I don't really.. a bit shy hehehe.. but I know you have Facebook, I could send it to you personally 😊
@@BuildaBetterBike for now, I've finished two restoration on a 1962 old barn find cruiser bike and a snow bike it's a 26X4.0 very big tires.
By the way, I named my bikes 😁
I like the ride video after the build video
Awesome video. I just subscribed. I am sold on any old school bike work that includes lots of greased bolts. I had a Blue Super V 1000. I loved it. Sold it for a Basso Ti HT that I still own and ride. The Basso frame is a 93 or 94 with more modern parts on it.
Nice. Had to google that. Looks awesome!
Dp more videos like this!
Do what you want! ( and people will watch ) If you are going to build the bike I would be mad if you didn't ride the bike!! Thank you!
Absolutely love the fact you used some cheap ass parts. There was a time in my life could only afford those parts and it still worked. Nowadays im kinda blessed money wise and tbh i wouldn't buy those parts again but many people for whatever reason arent in this position. Its always good to have an option and as you said it makes riding available for everyone. Its about the sport and passion not the money!
Do more of these type of videos also. I would love to go on a ride with you and pick your brain and this felt like just that.
There are good cheap suntour air forks with a straight steerer out there, There is the raidon and the epixon. Good entry level air forks, and they can be internally adjusted between 80 and 140mm of travel.... They go for around 150 - 200 bucks.
more ride / comment video, please!
The super v was one of my favorite bikes. I still have a 1998 that the only original part is the main frame. I put a swingarm from a Jekyll on it with a fox float rear shock to give it more travel. If you google uber v stuff should pop up what people did. Your bike looks great
I should have finished watching the video all the way when you started talking about Uber v lol. But i have rode my super v hard. Big jumps, drop offs and have not had a problem with the frame. Still ride to this day.
Still a great trail bike. Gets the job done with no fuss.
appreciate a good Q&A video, but would rather hear you answer when you're not out of breath. Love the build videos. They're very well shot, as expected. I'd almost rather see a ride video without the commentary to see the trails you have out in Utah.
Thanks for the feedback. I don't plan on doing many of these
I'm actually building an Uber V now, I'll keep my eyes open for another Jekyll swingarm if you didn't already find one
nice bike....
Do your thing dude
Rock On Freaks
I'm not sure if it applies to the XCM, but with the cheaper Suntour air forks you can convert them to an oil bath and make them really quite competent! All the dampers are swappable too! I think even the lowers! In the future I would look for a Suntour Raidon - they're straight tubed and are super affordable air forks, if I recall mine a few years ago cost 40 pounds!
Great to change up the format once & a while to provide a variety of content. Also, you have to ride the bike builds you completed or have a collaboration with other people (UA-camrs??). Keep going!
Found your Jeykll 1000. Pricy though.
Loved the format as some kind of follow up for your builds. Hearing your thoughts and whys on the different aspects of the restoration is quite interesting and informative.
I want to learn how to fix my bikes (we have 4 in our family, so I know what you talk about) and I appreciate your thoughts and experience.
Oh man.. my brother in law had one of these in purple with carbon swingarm.. still sad he sold it as they gone up in price! would love to have it now
New sub here , love to see old bikes brought back to life.
Enjoying your channel 👍🏼would like to upgrade a 2002 Santa Cruz heckler 5 any suggestions?
que belleza felicidades
Nice
