    Haha you guys are hilarious to listen to! I’ve only read the books so I can’t say for sure about the films, but what you’ve shown me here in these two episodes, I think Salems Lot would have scared me more as a younger person. And Bradford, the older, that dream of yours would have scared the life out of me 😅

      Crocketts clothes were in the car at the lake. Cully and Bonnie drove Crockett. Crockett left his clothes in the Sawyers house, runs outside and Barlow kills him and leaves.
      Are you saying Barlow then went into Sawyers house and got the clothes then drove Crockett? Does not make sense. lulz were had

    Salem's Lot is my favorite Stephen King adaptation. The Stand and It are close seconds. Back in time when network TV did amazing work on miniseries.

    LOL Barlow can drive a car, he just can't see himself in the rearview mirror.
    I think Weasel (Elisha Cook Jr.) was also in "Messiah of Evil" which is a terrific '70s horror flick.
    Geoffrey Lewis (the gravedigger) was a great character actor.
    To me, the scariest part of the miniseries was the vampire kid at the window. Scariest scene in the book is when the mean school bus driver hears the bus horn blowing in the middle of the night and goes out to find it full of undead school kids who get their revenge.

    I was born in 1977 and my mother took me and my older brother to watch Poltergeist and The Thing in theaters when they first come out I was only about 4 or 5 years old then, so my mom was all for scaring me young. Personally I think Cujo was the scariest for me because it could really happen getting attacked by a dog or any animal with rabies.

    I saw this movie when it came out in 1979. I was almost 5 and it scared me so bad. I still can’t hear snoring without hearing the Glick mother in the morgue. Absolutely terrifying. It’s also my favorite SK book. I have read it the most of them all.

    The mom in Carrie creeped me out and scared me, but Salem's Lot terrified me. The mini series came out when I was 10 and my whole family watched it together. I loved it even though I was super scared and literally had nightmares for a few years about once a month. I could never get myself to re-watch it. I read the book years and years later and wasn't scared at all. Goes to show what a little growing up can do. LOL

    Carrie never scared me, probably because I identified with her so much as a teenager. I just listened to the audiobook of Salem's Lot and there were some times when I had to walk away from it because of the tension.
    Eva Miller was not married to Weasel in the book. (I can't remember now in the movies.)

    I haven't seen the movie in a very long time, so I'm not sure how much of the backstory was shown... but there is a good reason why Ben is worried about the house and it's new occupants. It has an extremely dark history and he had a horribly traumatic experience inside of it as a kid which has haunted him his entire life. The reason he came back to the Lot was to write a book about it and try to get it out of his system.

    Kind of wish you had done a similar format as your pilot for this series. Comparing the old Salem's Lot that you remember, and having your son review the "new" version with Rob Lowe. Really hope you do a series on The Stand in this style. Thanks for the video!

    I first saw Salems Lot, tv mini series, when it was first broadcast in 1979. I was 10 and it blew me away. Since then ive went from Betamax tape, VHS tape, DVD and Blu Ray. Ive read the book about 20 times and finally got my hands on an original limited edition of the book. While the mini series strays a bit from the book it carrys the feel of the story with it. Switching the look of Barlow and Straker worked on screen for visual weight but id love to see a faithful adaptation by an accomplished director. Would be a great project for a streaming service who value great storytelling.

    Enjoyed this so much. Can't wait to see more !!!! This film scared the crap out of me when I was little. I was a little younger than the boys playing the Glicks when it came out. Even though it's an old film, and truly vintage now, it's really effective at being scary !!!! Such a fun thing to hear your thoughts on it ! THE FONZY FREEZE FRAME MOMENT WAS PRICELESS...... INSERT JUMP SCARE MUSIC 🎶

    I remember reading Carrie when my parents bought it, once it was released in paperback- I was both mesmerized and horrified! Then came the movie! I read Salem's Lot a couple years later, but unlike Carrie, I've no recollection of ever seeing the movie version.
    Consider myself a Stephen King fan, but he's so very prolific, and there's only so much time in a day!

    If you like the idea of vampires being a plague on a city, I suggest reading/watching 'The Strain' by Guillermo del Toro!

    • @jimbrown2688
      @jimbrown2688 24 дні тому

      The Strain, The Fall and The Night Eternal are brilliantly told. Three parts of the one story, a beginning, a middle and an end. If you love good storytelling, intrigue, politics, motivation to do bad things, good old fashioned horror blended with real historical events. its well worth the read. The TV series is quite good but suffers just a little from pacing issues. Think I'll read them again

    Being a sheltered Gen-Xer for many years, I would only find out about Stephen King books from my dad taking me to the mall Waldenbooks and seeing copies of Pet Semetary🙀on the new release table. The ‘80s movies I had to wait until they were on network TV. 🥺
    I was old enough to see IT when it was broadcast. 🤗 And I did my best to see as many ‘90s adaptations as I could.
    I finally saw ’Salem’s Lot on Amazon Prime a while back. I enjoyed what they were going for, even though they combined characters due to limits of time and budget.
    Enjoyed the video! Looking forward to more!

      The book is so much worse than the movie could ever dream of being. The description of the grief when Louis digs up Gage made me physically ill when I listened to the audiobook. My son was three at the time so it really gut-punched me. I’d read it several times before that but becoming a mom did something to me. Nothing scarier than losing a child.

    • @jimbrown2688
      @jimbrown2688 24 дні тому +1

      Pet Sematary reaches a height of fear, dread and claustrophobic storytelling so many writers could only dream of. When he goes to dig up his child from the cemetery is one of the greatest, sweat inducing reads I've ever had. The original movie circa 1992 with Dale Midkiff and Denise Crosby wasn't bad and it was small budget. The recent adaptation wasn't bad but it lacked weight but I quite liked the ending....

      The book is a great read, read it 20 times. The 1979 tv mini series with David Soul and Bonnie Bedelia, Mrs John McLane in Die Hard, is excellent. Scary, claustrophobic and well shot. If you are going to watch it, it was shaped into a movie, get the right version. One version is a little back to front. The other makes much more sense.... Faith against faith, your faith against the masters...
