- Hey Folks I received an update as to what happen with Salem's Lot and why it was shelved for awhile.
The successful writer Benjamin "Ben" Mears returns to his hometown Salem's Lot, Maine, expecting to write a new novel about the Marsten House. Ben believes that the manor is an evil house that attracts evil men since the place has many tragic stories and Ben saw a ghostly creature inside the house when he was ten. Ben finds that the Marsten House has just been rented to the antique dealers Richard K. Straker and his partner Kurt Barlow that is permanently traveling. Ben meets the divorced teacher Susan Norton that is living with her parents and they have a love affair. Ben also gets close his former school teacher Matt Burke. When people start to die anemic, Ben believes that Straker's partner is a vampire. But how to convince his friends that he is not crazy and that is the truth?

No explanations are necessary regarding anything Warner Brothers related. They dissapoint on every level. I look forward to the day a company that knows what they're doing takes them over.
Hear hear!
@Nexus-1068 The issues with Salem's Lot are only the most recent of WB's epic failures.
My daughter and I were hoping WB would have released The Lost Boys in 2 DVD’s . The uncut version with all of the cutscenes back in and The Lost Boys movie we saw at the theater! Unfortunately it didn’t happen, Hopefully WB will understand that We The Lost Boys fans are waiting for such a thing to happen in our lifetime.🙏
For a made for tv film, that 1979 version was very memorable.
I prefer the Rob Lowe version. The characters felt more fleshed out
This is the one movie I've been desperate to see ever since it was first announced years ago. The '79 tv miniseries was my first experience of real onscreen terror, and the novel is my favorite book. I'm just glad its coming out, but really wish it was longer because a lot of scenes and characters arent going to be included. Thanks for the update.
After watching this video and Swamp Thing which was directed by Dauberman, they should have given him and Wan full control of this movie. It seems they actually wanted to stay true to the source material which would’ve been so good if they did. I would like to see Boom Boom Bonny and Reggie get turned like they did in the book and the McDougal storyline would be hard to adapt in a movie, but the part in the book of the mother feeding her dead baby always gives me chills
I've wanted to see a full length movie of it myself, as the miniseries look of the first one was the only distraction in a brilliant vampire movie. Pierce Brosnan would have been a fantastic Richard J Straker 🙃
@@MunKeeButt67 Brosnan is an interesting choice (he's always good). I always thought Richard O'brien (The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Crystal Maze) would have been a great Straker.
@@MunKeeButt67 Although I based my choice on the novels Straker.
It would be great to get a mini-series to flush out the book as well as keeping parts of the ‘79 miniseries intact because the vampire in ‘79 is what drew in audiences. In the age of 8 episodes of a story, I’d like to see a version of Salems Lot in this way on down the road
The Rob Lowe mini series was really good. I prefer it
The 1979 movie is amazing 😮
Great update, glad it’s not going to be Salems Not. Definitely agree it needed to be a three hour epic to be true to the book, anything else will just be a convoluted mess full of short cuts and diluted character dynamics. Why can’t they just let a director who is passionate about the book to allow them to create an updated film we’re all pining for.
They need to release the damn trailer!!! Uggh
Hopefully at some point we will get a three hour Dauberman directors cut
He would have to re write or add another hours worth of material. What you'll eventually see is what he wrote from the beginning.
I think there's a misunderstanding here.
The Studio wanted already a faster movie before the production started, so Dauberman had to press everything in a maximum 2 hour movie.
Now we know the final cut has a runtime of 113 minutes, including end credits.
You're not going to get a director's cut of a direct to streaming movie.
I just hope we get a Blu-ray
Don't hold your breath.
Thank you so much for the update. Shame it isn't going to align better with what I had hoped but I really appreciate the information.
Thanks for the update, at last a bit of clarity on the issues they’ve had trying to keep the studio out of the loop. There was a short clip online that was clearly taking during shooting of a kid levitating in a mist filled park, looked very much in line with the eerie feel of the 79 version. That can’t be bad👍🏻
Sounds more like they remade its sequel "A Return To Salem's Lot"
That was an abomination. So bad
Appreciate the update, when will studios learn to LEAVE DIRECTORS ALONE !! It’s so annoying hahahaha
Are we finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel? My guess is it will be released in mid October in the two weeks leading up to Halloween. It's a shame it won't be shown in theatres. A story as frightening and suspenseful as Salem's Lot should always be seen on the big screen.
Speaking of tunnels, some company should adapt the novel, LIGHT AT THE END. Now that does vampires very well in New York City
Been wanting to see this for years. Thanks for the update!
Thanks for update.
Thank-you for the update and for being so fun about a messy situation.
So the exact same deal as the last Carrie remake. Amazing script adapted from the book, studio interference, reshoots, delayed release, and the end result ended up looking like a bad carbon copy of the original movie.
Studio interference= shit. History has told us that every time a studio takes over a project, it becomes total crap. True Story. WB is such a crap studio
Appreciate the update i have been waiting patiently for this movie to come out.
Love your channel and thanks for the update 😊… again the studio bosses much like record companies start squeezing their very cash driven opinion into the art and we have Zappa turned into swift 😵💫…. Will they never understand what allows art to have proper legs and stand the test of time !! Tobe hooper said himself that he always directed and wanted his movies to move like a great album, leaving the viewer with an impression in time .. Gary d I’m sure was Trying the same thing … 79 SL and Steve king I’m sure had huge impact on a lot of our modern directors and cult genre producers.. we have enough twee blah out there ..your update has however given me hope 😊
Thanks for the info just looking forward to see what they have done with the film.
Can’t wait! Thanks for the update
You had me at "Salems Lot" Thanks mate
Thank you for the update
Thank you for sharing this. Very interesting information about what caused the film to feel unbalanced. It’s a shame they didn’t true Dauberman’s vision. They really screwed him over after many successes he had at the studio. Thank you for this my friend
Thanks Ben , yeah it's a shame they interfered with his vision , I really think they underestimated the following Salem's Lot has around the world.
@@thekingdommovieschannel amen to that brother
I’ll admit, I was one of the people that was a bit hard on Dauberman, it seems he actually had a good vision for this film because he originally wanted to make it 3 hours long which would actually work well for a big screen adaptation of the book, but it seems WB butted in and wanted to make an action vampire movie.
Dauberman is massively overrated in my humble opinion and I really don't care how much money IT made personally I don't rate him as a writer or director.
@@thekingdommovieschannel The whole reason they hired Dauberman was likely because they COULD control him. The story does not lend itself to current studio horror movie aesthetics. Also, it's very possible that the early cut that was shown to the studio did in fact stink.
Thanks for the update!😎👍

It’s simple I hear southern Irish and I sub 😃 great video love from Limerick!😊
Hi from Kerry , thanks for the sub
So instead of doing the book in which they should’ve went the IT route, it is just all over the place. And why do a remake of Toby Hooper Salem it makes no sense. That movie was fantastic and it scared me to death as a child. It makes no sense. I guess the studio has at Warner Brothers knew what they were doing..
I think that the failure of RENFIELD and DEMETER Sure as hell didn’t give them confidence in a vampire picture these days.
Oh well, I will catch it when it hits max. Thank you for the info, my friend. Let’s keep Gary Dubman away from the howling.
Sounds like a horror version of The Rise Of Skywalker.
Any time studio heads, marketing people, etc steer a picture it's always straight into the trash can. They should have left it totally in the hands of the director.
Is it possible Barlow is depicted as a combination of the novel and the 1979 Nosferatu? Like he can shift between monster and human looking.
He's Reggie Nalder without blue make up apparently. Pic was posted on FB although very poor quality.
New subscriber!
Thank you 👌
Sounds like a mixed-bag cinematic experience. Yet again, too many cooks in the kitchen. Thanks for the info.
Dying to see this for ages. I'd love to see a trailer, just to see some footage of it and get a feel for what it's going to be like.
Same. I want to see the exact trailer people saw at cinemacon to see all the vampire mayhem
^exactly what he said. Just give us the damn “Devil Town” trailer they’ve been sitting on! Lol
@@haydengilbert6317 Yes. If they confirmed it’s coming to Max this year, what is taking them so long to release a trailer? What I want to see is the Mike Ryerson cemetery scene and the hoards of vampires that were shown
@@ericcartman7361 and Matt lighting the match as, what I assume is Mike Ryerson, hunting him. I actually don’t mind the “vampires are vulnerable to light” dynamic I’ve heard people mention. It’s a cool aspect to add to them, make them more of monsters than lurk only in the shadows. I’m really excited to see this, in spite of everything lol
@@haydengilbert6317I’m really curious as to what the vampires look like in the movie? I remember they’re described from the cinemacon trailer as pale and have glowing eyes, but I want to see it for myself. Curious to see if Pilou Asbek does as good as James Mason in the role of Straker. The casting of Matt Burke is good. Bill Camp was great in Sound of Freedom and The Outsider which is another King adaptation.
Thank you for giving us this update. I would just recommend not watching the 1979 masterpiece between now and release to keep the disappointment to a minimum. For that matter, just watch the 2004 version instead before the release if you must. Just my $0.02.
Salem's Lot (1979) is my favorite film of all time and I can't wait to see this remake!
Thanks for the update. Still fearful that it's going to be a mess. Fingers crossed 🤞
happy the movie is coming out soon thank you for the update
It's not like warner brothers to interfere ❤
Man I gotta say, I’m still over the moon excited. It’s disappointing that it got tampered with so much and that it’s just getting dumped on Max, but I’ve been waiting for a big budget PERIOD PIECE adaptation of this book for so long. I don’t mind it getting a little action-heavy in the ending, and I don’t mind it deviating a bit from the book. I love the story and love the characters so much, I can’t wait to see whatever they’ve got.
Only thing I’m okay with being different than the novel is Barlow being a beast. I love the book, it’s my all time favorite and hopefully they didn’t screw up. I gotta admit this remake nailed the 1st 4 casting choices, exactly like how I pictured the characters from the book.
@@ericcartman7361 it’s one of my favorite books as well! I actually think we’ve had TWO pretty great adaptations so far
@@haydengilbert6317 I’m not a huge fan of the 2004 one, but 1979 is a classic. I’m not a fan of constant remakes, but Salem’s Lot has potential for a scary ass movie or series if done right. What I love about the book is that no one is safe and anything can happen to our favorite characters.
Still-cannot wait. First in line ❤
It's going to be bad. Very bad. No character development. No backstory. Hopefully just one, great and nasty Vampire.
I'm surprised your source failed to mention the big plot change and the re casting of Barlow. Daubermans treatment didn't come close to 3hrs either not sure why Dauberman is getting on his high horse about that.
That is just a rumor from what I heard.
Salem's Lot is absolutely not an "action" type novel. It is all about building tension, the characters slowly coming to realize that vampires are real, and then grappling with how to defeat them. This process is what allows you to suspend your disbelief. It sounds like WB didn't understand the appeal of the novel, or more likely didn't even read it. I suspect we'll see vampires sprinting on all fours like a million other CGI era movie monsters.
It’s a shame really, it seems Dauberman must have had a good story, but WB being WB had to ruin it. I liked the first 4 actors they picked for the movie, but the rest of the cast is just ehh.
@@ericcartman7361 I'm not a fan of Dauberman's work either, TBH. When this movie was originally announced, I was looking forward to a distinctive movie made with artistic commitment and passion. Everything we're hearing sounds like the opposite of that.
@@user-pv9ev3nu6sThey should of gave it to Ari Aster
@@ericcartman7361 That would have been much better. Or Mike Flanagan, Frank Darabont, Scott Derrickson, Ti West. Robert Eggers would be my dream pick.
@@user-pv9ev3nu6s unpopular opinion, but I’m not a huge fan of Flanagan. I find his stuff okay at best, but he’s not my favorite director. I wish they gave Salem’s Lot to someone who can do scary well and I agree Robert Eggers would be a great choice
This was the #1 horror film I was looking forward to seeing this year and it is extremely disappointing to hear of all the studio involvement and meddling. They don’t know what the f…. They’re doing and it’s really a shame that we’re now saying looks like they’ve finally SETTLED on an edited version that would work. Sounds more like they’re think more like it could work??? I’ll tune in but my expectations are low. Inside preferred a 2.5 hour version if this one. There’s enough story there. Or do a 1 hour 45 minute version that leaves us hanging and plan a sequel. These A holes have zero creativity
It doesn’t make sense that some shows are made when some cancelled. Same with films.
When will Studios realize that they have never meddled and made a movie better?
Well, I lost all interest in the Dauberman version since leaks said it would be a remake of the (imo) bad 79 adaptation instead of a proper adaptation this book deserves so direly. Neither the 79 version or the 04 version do the book justice. Although I must say, 04 at least tried to catch the tone, feeling and themes the book wants to convey. It just fails in terms of special effects and some of the characters being miscast. By now, I think Mike Flanagan's "Midnight Mass" is the closest thing we'll ever get to a good Salem's Lot series/movie.
"Good enough" doesn't bode well.
I don't want it. I hate it when some smart arsed director thinks he will improve on an already excellent film. The Haunting was a prime example.
If you're talking about the 1999 adaption with Catherine Zeta-Jones then yes I agree. That film was terrible. However, the Netflix adaption from Mike Flanagan is phenomenal.
Someone on FB claiming that it's not coming out this year after all. Make of that what you will besides Salem's Lot does not need to be remade.
We'll just have to wait and see, while I agree Salem's Lot doesn't really need to be remade as such, but I would have liked to have seen an up to date version with some of the elements from the book that were left out of the 79 version and more importantly to see it on a giant cinema screen. But unfortunately we're never going to get that now.
Let's hope this information is false, and that it will come out this year.
I’m a bit yes and no on another Salem’s Lot adaptation. I read the book before I saw the adaptations of it and I loved it. There’s a lot of things that the 1979 miniseries miss out on from the book, but I can’t imagine a better filming location, cast, and creepy atmosphere as good as the 1979 version. If they were to remake Salem’s Lot again in the future, it would be cool if they just used the book as their script 😂 only change Barlow into a beast or do a mixture of the book like what A Return to Salem’s Lot did with Judge Axel where he shows his true face.
@@ericcartman7361 That is a good idea for me personally. I too wished that Gary Dauberman with the Judge Axel route.
@@Erdan5-br7irexactly, I think to appease both fans of the book and 1979 miniseries is to go the Judge Axel route with Barlow. I don’t think this version will be great, but if Salem’s Lot were to get adapted again, my suggestion would be keep it set in the 70s, longer runtime, try to get in as many characters from the book as possible, use practical effects for the vampires, R rating, and a scary ass Barlow, both human and monster looking.
Thank goodness it's shelved. The '79 miniseries/long feature is great. No need for remake really!
That’s infuriating to hear. Corporate folk butting in, instead of leaving this to the creatives (Wan and Dauberman are proven Horror writers/directors etc)
Exciting that we have a timeframe of September though. :)
I was one of the people that was hesitant of Dauberman, but I watched the show Swamp Thing last year and I saw that Dauberman directed it and I thought to myself, “ I think he’ll actually do a pretty good job with Salem’s Lot “, but hearing that WB didn’t let him use his vision to the best of his abilities sucks. I think if they had given Dauberman and Wan full control, we would’ve gotten an awesome vampire movie. It sucks to hear how they messed this up. Thanks a lot WB
The more I hear about this the worse it seems
Yup. I DM’d a guy who said he saw a screener of the movie and from what he told me that happened didn’t sound very good. He said there were some cool scenes, but he was pretty meh about it
@@ericcartman7361 Do you have anywhere were we can discuss somewhere were I can hear the information from the test screener? I really want to hear the plot of the movie.
@@Erdan5-br7ir He didn’t really give me a lot of information. I’ll copy and paste what he sent me.
“So from what I remember Barlow doesn't have a human form so Sadler isn't playing him. They had another guy in the casting survey at the end of the screener. The biggest flaw in that movie was the ending. It feels like it just suddenly ends like they defeat him way too easily. Also the two black characters feel like they are there for comic relief. I forgot the woman's name she's a well known actress but she's playing the Doctor. The black kid is the main kid in the movie trying to kill Barlow. And it feels like comic relief and I couldn't take them serious. The drive in scene, the kitchen scene, and the cemetery scene was pretty cool.” That’s pretty much all that he told me. He did say though that people died in the kitchen scene
@@ericcartman7361 So I guess Barlow does still die. At least Barlow doesn't win. But I am curious as to if the rumors of him talking in the movie are true.
@@Erdan5-br7ir I’ve heard from some people in the comments on UA-cam that he talks. When a remake to Salem’s Lot was first announced, I always wanted a mixture of Barlow from the book and original movie. Have him appear human when he’s luring people in and have him show his true face in the kitchen scene and climax. I hope this adaptation won’t be as bad as the 2020 version of The Stand which I hated. Terrible adaptation of the book and Salem’s Lot deserves better than that crap
@BoogeyManBen Given its slow burning pace, and complexity, Salem's Lot doesn't really work as a feature film. You have to compress the story so much that a lot of it is cut out to save time. The 1979 miniseries did this heavily, but was so well written, acted and directed, that it isn't really noticeable. What I would love to see is a limited series version of Salem's Lot, where the story can take its time to develop as the town and its residents are fleshed-out properly.
Chapelwaite, which was adapted from the short story prequel, "Jerusalem's Lot," offers a good idea of what such a series could be like if made by the right people (I would love it if the Chapelwaite creators adapted the sequel short story, "One For The Road," in the same way). The Chapelwaite creators would be my 2nd choice to do this, after the Duffer brothers, who have chanelled Stephen King quite heavily for "Stranger Things" as they admit in the superb companion book to the show that his novels were a key influence (especially Firestarter, with Charlie McGee being descibed as Eleven's literary cousin). Salem's Lot adapted by them would be riveting, if it ever happens.
And you know that why? There has never been a feature film about it - lol.
The Writers & Producers of Chapelwaite are the same (the Filardi Brothers) as the writers from the 2004 remake of Salem's Lot Miniseries. 😀
If you're interested, I put together an Outline for a 10 Episode Limited Series for Salem's Lot... I can send it over to You if you would like.
I ALSO added the "One for the Road" story into the LAST Episode of the Outline (without the snowstorm).
It's getting a theatrical release across Europe - October 11th.
Sucks to be waiting this long, pun intended. Frack the studios interference. I hope they release all versions!
I don't think it will ever be better than the original. The two movies that really scared me as a kid was Salems Lot and the original 1973 Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark. These are two truly creepy movies with terrible remakes.
This is what destroys alot of film productions, I can understand the studio would interfere though because they have mostly invested in the production, Hopefully someday the studio executives will put more trust in the creatives involved!.
I wait...hope not too long..i love it...
Interesting that actor William Sadler filmed scenes for the movie but now doesn't appear in the cast list. It was assumed he was playing Barlow but he denied it sheepishly.
Don't think he's playing Barlow, my money's on him playing Parkins Gillespie
He didn't play Barlow but the character was re cast and all of Barlows scenes re shot.
@@johnryder8464 I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask him on a forum. His character may be a victim of the cut.
He's reprising his role as Heywood. Turns out he was paroled from Shawshank and unwittingly wandered into the nearby town of Jerusalem's Lot.
Father Callahan's week ass. Had to show up int The Dark Tower for an attempt at redemption.
Weak.
Stick to your classics people 💎... anything beyond that is irrelevant
Disappointed it’s likely still months away myself… I think this films road to release is a prime example of the near chaos that’s easily possible in film production…
The delay created a lot of negative social media attention for the movie.
My friends worked on this like 4 years ago. WTH
I am a massive fan of the original and like many others, when I first heard about the remake, I was very excited. The problem is now, Warner have dragged this out for so long because the idiots that work there don't know their arse from their elbow, I have completely lost interest in this film. For me, they can shove it right up their backsides, I wont be watching ever. Mess people around for so long and they will shut the door on it. Well done Warner, you deserve a medal, it's no wonder you've gone to Sh-t.
I had a feeling the Movie was 💩 that's why it wasn't released.
I wonder if Kurt Barlow will die in this adaptation, given that the ending is rumored to be different. Anyways, who sent you the email? You don't have to say their name but I would like to know where you got this info from.
I was told what happened to Barlow from someone who attended a screener if you want me to spoil it for you
More interesting is what happens to Ben Mears at the end of the movie.
@@ericcartman7361 I have been waiting too long for this movie that I don't mind spoilers. What happened to Barlow according to the information you got?
@@Erdan5-br7ir From what I’ve heard, he has no human form and he’s not played by Sadler. What I heard that happens to him was that he was defeated too easily. He didn’t really go into much more detail than that. I hope this movie will be worth the wait. The Lot is my all time favorite horror novel and it deserves the best adaptation
@@ericcartman7361 Did he get staked like the book and previous versions, or you didn't get those details yet?
I prefer the Rob Lowe mini series. The characters felt more fleshed out then the 1979 version
Each to their own my friend, while yes it was more fleshed out and closer to the book, it just didn't creep me out at all, the 79 version has the mood and scare factor the Rob Lowe version was seriously lacking.
@@thekingdommovieschannel I actually saw the Rob Lowe version first, so when I saw the 79 version I didn't like it. It felt like so much is missing. On second viewing I liked it more. I need to rewatch both
Summing up: they did a frankenstein kind of movie that ain't gonna satisfy anybody. What a mess! Do yourself a favour and watch the 1979 masterpiece instead. They need to release it on 4K. That would be a LOT better than a new crappy remake.
I liked the '79 version. Even liked the Rob Lowe remake. Both miniseries were good, however I feel the RL version followed the book a bit more.
There is no way to capture the book or do the characters justice in 2.5 or 3 hours. Should have been an 8 part mini-series, hour and a half apiece. If the characters aren't fleshed out or the main plots given time, you miss out on the nuance.
Salem's Lot was one of the first King books I ever read. Cujo was the last (Sorry, after a telekinetic chick, a vampire and a living car... a rabid dog just didn't do it for me). Did read the Stand... interesting book... but it ended in a way that lead me to believe he wasn't quite sure how to end the huge build up... kind of disappointing. But I always go back to Salem's Lot! Have it in well used paperback, signed hardback, and audiobook. Listen to it when I have long road trips.
Anyway, Mini-Series is the way it should be done. Unless the movie is a prelude to a mini... in which case, Hell Yeah!
The thing that turned me off about the RL version was that it was updated to modern times instead of keeping it in the 70s which is what the Dauberman is doing.
@@josebro352oh yeah definitely. A story like Salem’s Lot I can’t picture in modern day. Needs to be kept in the 70s
These writers always think they know better than the original book, and instead of trying to do it justice, "bring it into the present" means basically chop the screenplay for DEI. I'm 56 and just want to see a movie without the bubblegum card editing of the 79 film. If studios had any sense, a massive remake with this excitement, should be released at Halloween. Not in May. I don't think James Wans need to push everything into the conjuring "verse", should even be considered. I own many of these films, and they have been some of the better horror's of the 2000s, but Salem's Lot can easily stand alone, if made to the same style as the 79 movie. I just hope the master isn't a green "chick" mistress by the release 🙃
I agree with you on the DEI stuff, but I honestly wouldn’t mind a black actor playing Matt Burke because they did it in the 2004 series with Andre Braugher and he was one of the few good casting choices in that series. I could see Wendell Pierce play Burke, but don’t cast a black actor just for the sake of diversity, find someone who’s talented and Pierce gives off school teacher vibes
@@ericcartman7361 I still have a dislike of moving away from the source characters. I can't remember even seeing anyone black in Salem's Lot, except in the hospital, but if there is no mention of creed in the book, I would be happy whoever it was. Just like I couldn't watch a white Blade. Imagine Roots, with a diversity tick book. It would not be good 🙃
@@MunKeeButt67 understandable. I just thought Andre Brougher did a good job as Burke in the original.
@@ericcartman7361 We can only hope it follows the book, and even with a slow start, it should be great 🙃
I'll stick with the 1979 miniseries. I got tired of Warner delaying this film's release in theaters, after the decision had been made to premiere it twice! Now, they want to put it on a pay service instead! Meanwhile, we were handed vampire fodder like "Renfield" and "Last Voyage of the Demeter!" Both films being adapted from the very same novel! We were forced to watch another toy doll ( or a silly, robotic semblance of one ) develop 'A.I.' and dance a distorted version of the Macarena after which she runs beserk, while killing anyone in her way! If this is what movie screens are going to cough up for the high admission fees, and 'in demand' films like "Salem's Lot" are relegated to be shown on pay television, then Warner and every movie studio in Hollywood can suck the lifeblood out of every future cinematic release they have scheduled for the big screens! The price is not worth it! And, as for the new "Salem's Lot"... sorry, Warner! You screwed up bad this time! I'm not wasting my time or money!
As a kid I loved Salem's Lot so much that i sat a tape recorder on the TV and recorded the audio and would listen to the movie on my Walkman. I was a huge fan of it
That said I have a deep love for the film and book but that does not mean I will scratch and claw to see a remake we already know is trash. We knew it was going to be trash when they announced the casting. From there on everything we heard was bad from previews to screenings and eventually being shelved. We all know this movie is terrible.
Most of you will not admit that. Chalk that up to hope.
I also expect everyone to know that when a movie bombs both director and studio blame one another because both party's have a reputation to protect. Studio didn't write this script. Studio didn't cast this film alone. The director chose to stray from the source material. The director is responsible for every frame of film. Studios try to make films for the largest audience possible but they don't force directors to film crazy stuff like finales in drive in parking lots.
We've already seen Barlow. Why nobody is talking about that is beyond me. He's right here on UA-cam and has been for a couple months. He looks like something more Return to Salem's Lot than Salem's Lot. Studio didn't do that. Director did.
The 1st 4 casting decisions were actually pretty good in my opinion, it went downhill at the casting of Dr Cody. I’m a huge fan of the novel and it would suck if this is just another bad SK adaptation. Hopefully it is not as bad as the 2020 version of The Stand
@@ericcartman7361Alfre Woodard is the only decent person in the cast as far as I'm concerned.
Like said, they should split it up like the did for IT or there will probably be a lot of lost footage, story and such. I wish it wasn't all about money these days and stripping it to get it out the door. Do it from the heart for the fans . I know I'm taking crazy 🤣 🏡❤
gotta feeling it's a turkey....
“Good enough to release” “best edited version” “somewhat watchable”…sounds like a shit show. Why do studios do this?
Sounds like a $hit $how. Movie will undoubtedly suck. Such a shame. Screw u Warner Bros.
Fingers crossed its been a long 2 years
2 years??? I would have been at least 2 years late if it had come out on it's first release date lol. There have been leaks about this movie since 2018 - long before the pandemic. it's been a long, grueling 6 years. Or more.
"Too many chiefs in the kitchen" ... hilarious misread
🤣I know , though I got away with it , thanks a lot
@@thekingdommovieschannel glad you left it in! Gave me a good laugh
@@masterofallgoons tempted to reshoot but said ah what the hell , glad you had a laugh 😃
@@thekingdommovieschannel - I did! Also, for the record, I appreciate the news and I've been following your updates every so often and it's helped ease my frustration and curiosity as I've been waiting to see what happened to this movie... but i only commented on the misread because I'm a dick... Anyway, thanks for the interaction and the info!
From what I’m hearing of this movie, it really doesn’t sound that good. I would still like to see it out of curiosity, but from what I’ve heard, it just doesn’t sound like it’ll be a good adaptation of the book. Sucks that WB interfered with Dauberman’s vision if he was really going for a 3 hour movie which would’ve worked for a big screen Salem’s Lot adaptation. I’ll admit they nailed the first 4 casting choices for this movie, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Spencer Treat Clark and Lewis Pullman are very close to how I picture the characters from the book.
It will be the most anticipated but most underwhelming movie of 2024. When you build up expectation to the point of apathy then you've already lost and lose money WB will.
@@johnryder8464Basically what happened with another King adaptation which was the dreadful The Stand remake. I remember being hyped for that show only to end up hate watching it. They changed so much of the story and miscasted so many characters it was pathetic. It even had Amber Turd in it. I should’ve known it was going to be bad from the start when they gender and race swapped characters when the book literally had diverse characters in it.
Sounds like it's going to suck.
Warner Bros. simple profitable equation: It chapter 1 135 mins builds to big action finale = Highest grossing horror film ever. Doctor Sleep 152 mins slow character piece = massive flop.
Sadly it's about what the general public will watch, not avid King fans. They are running a business.
Doctor Sleep was pretty good. Not great, but an entertaining movie.
Another set back. Yeesh.
Gonna suck..
i bet money there is some type of WOKE shit involved thats stopping this movie from coming out
They gender swapped Dr Cody so most likely. I was okay with the 2004 miniseries race swapping Burke because Andre Braugher was one of the few good casting choices in that series
wow sounds terrible
sounds awful
Oh lord.. please leave salem's lot alone!!!
How about this... make something ORIGINAL???
Screw these b.s. remakes.
Another remake no-one asked for so it's all good. Leave it buried.
