Avril got Lyme disease in 2014 and took a 4-year hiatus due to the recovery process, she wrote this song in bed when she felt like she was going to die and didn't know if she was going to make it.
As for the conspiracy theory, there is a lot to talk about so I recommend watching videos on youtube but basically people think Avril killed herself around 2003-2004 and the avril today is a clone named melissa and they think shes a clone due to her looking different throughout the years and her voice changing, and personality and style changes throughout the years and for her changes in music genres.

I think they capture the pain of feeling almost having given up and the feeling that this is your death bed really well.
Her voice has always been IT for me.

The album, same title, is excellent. Avril took every music aspect that suits her in her previous works and made it into something more mature and beautiful.

This song is about severe chronic pain and what we go through mentally when we have zero quality of life from physical pain. People who don’t have pain can relate to this in a mental health way too.
I’m someone with severe chronic pain, disabled since I was 20 years old and I turn 29 next week and this song means SOO much to the disability community. I remember crying hard the first few times I heard it because it really does feel like you’re drowning when you can’t escape pain. We talked a lot about the song in our support groups for young disabled people when it was released. As you mentioned Avril has Lyme disease (which is very misunderstood. people believe it’s something that is temporary or easy to cure and it’s not. Most people don’t catch it in time to get treated and then it becomes incurable. There’s not enough research on it yet either and you have to have “Lyme literate” docs that charge $500 for each appointment and testing is expensive and has chance of false negatives. And rarely insurance covers it with my experience talking to people in Michigan lyme support groups) With the amount of money she has she is lucky to have access to the best treatments. Most people with chronic incurable Lyme have to pay thousands for just one treatment and it’s not a cure. Lyme has basically every symptom of every major disease all put together.)
Also the conspiracy came way before she was diagnosed with Lyme lol.
Honestly, I think Let Go (her first album) is one of the all time greats and has not aged one bit over the more than 20 years.
It also was in my opinion very mature (especially considering that some songs were written by her before she was even 18). You can easily listen to it today and it is simply a great album (for me even one of the best)
The second and third albums were also very well done with the third actually being quite a bit less mature than her first two which was a musical choice because it was appropriate for the type of music that album had (more of Blink 182 Energy).
Then she released more experimental albums (this song coming from one of them).
Her newest album is a return to punk and can best be compared to her third album.
The good part is, even her more fun and silly albums had some deeper songs on them as well

I do enjoy all her music but love her latest album love sux. but she’s gone back to her roots going heavy on the pop punk so it’s not as mature as some of her other stuff. People often think avril went away but she’s been putting out content pretty consistently, she has 7 albums (released albums in: 02, 04, 07, 2011, 2013, 2019, 2022) ❤

Ticks are horrible this year already, but where I live in southern Michigan they are always bad in the summer every year that I can remember. Everyone here has had ticks on them before because it’s all farms here and we have to pull them off all the animals everyday 😕 stay safe out there everybody and check for ticks after the kids come inside after playing. Usually on the back of your neck near your hairline or behind your ears. If you’re walking around the yard here you will see them crawling up your legs it’s that bad where I live lol! So gross. My grandpa used to keep a jar with alcohol in it and would collect the ticks each year and see how many each summer he caught since he was outside all day everyday. People got so grossed out by his jar 😂😂

So the conspiracy theory is thay she died before she released her third album and that was a way to explain the change in her sound. "New Avril" is apparently a woman named Melissa
Its just a conspiracy since ya she had lyme disease n thats y she stopped singing cause the disease took all her energy to live
@@Whitewolf1827 the conspiracy theory started years before she had Lyme disease. I was actually incorrect in saying it started before her third album because it started after her second album came out. She allegedly died in 2003 and was then replaced by Melissa

No she isn't dead but Lavigne has used doubles all throughout her career. I have the evidence on videos and pictures. Same as The Beatles, multiple people played the part of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison had a double, ringo had a double. It sounds absolutely stupid and crazy but that doesn't mean it can't be the truth. Truth is often pretty crazy. And no the majority of Conspiracy folks don't use that logic. I have spend a few years figuring this stuff out in some spare time. Theres 2 maybe even 3 different women playing Lavigne. And she isn't that nice of a person.....always getting engaged to guys and then blowing it off having another men all of a sudden. Her story is full of holes and stuff that makes no sense whatsoever.
