that black knight halberd is the GOAT and a very rare drop from this knight (you can try to farm it in late game)... i got this in my first playthrough and used it all the way to new game +4
Yes. And 32 Strength is required to use it, but if you increase it to 24 and wield it in both hands you can use it normally, as the strength status multiplies by 1.5x when using a weapon in both hands

A little, handy quality of life tip for you: Equipment load thresholds for the different rolls in this game are: 0-25% fast roll 25-50% mid roll 50-70% fat roll You’re only shown a total number in the menu so you still have to do the maths yourself but going for at least a mid roll can improve the combat and gameplay experience drastically imo. Additionally, the quality and interconnectedness of the world design in DS1 is simply unparalleled. It needs several playthroughs to really grasp its ingenuity and how many doors it actually opens in terms of player’s freedom of choice on how to tackle the game. PS: the constant ringing of a bell you hear in the background which accompanies your journey up to this point is actually every time caused by another player who rang one of the two bells in their world while playing Online. Just as you did after the Gargoyles fight. Your ringing of the bell for example was audible for other players in their game. I just think it’s amazing how many players are still playing this game which becomes slightly more tangible if you’re aware of this gimmick

I remember accidentally getting the drake sword and breezing through most of the latter half of the game my first time through. Glad you get to experience tail weapons (which later games unfortunately did not continue).

I bet any advice I could give you has already been told in the comment, so I'll say something a bit different : read EVERY item description of basically anything you put your hand onto. I'm talking the extended description, the one that give you more detail and lore. You have seen some of them already during the loading screens. You'll STILL be confused as hell, but occasionnaly, you'll go "WAIT ! I KNOW THIS DUDE/PLACE/THING !". It's a delightful feeling when things fall into place.

Black knight halberd is OP though... Literally the best weapon in the game... range + high damage.. beat my first playthrough with it.. loved it🤞🏼 Unfortunately we didn't have such weapon in ER😕
I don't know how far in advance these episodes are recorded, for all I know you could have beaten the game by now, but in case it helps out I learned that he wyvern on the bridge is a pretty decent automatic soul farm. You start in the undead berg bonfire, climb the ladder go up the stairs and aggro the dragon, he will kill all the hollows on the bridge with his fire breath and give you around five hundred souls, then you go back to the bonfire, respawn all the enemies and repeat (Also it's actually possible to run through that giant gate behind the boar before it shuts and skip the entire undead parish)
I would give almost anything to be able to experience my first playthrough of this game again. Have been chasing that dragon since and haven't found it though some have come close.
W Episode, just saying that Andre is going to be your best-friend throughout the game! I hit him accidentally one time and It took me hours to replenish my sins. You'll eventually find 2 embers to give to Andre that can elevate your weapons beyong +5 , +10, to reach +15 max lvled weapon!
Also if you fight the Moonlight Butterfly you'll find a special ember that.. may help you with the skeletons if you have a +5 weapon you like but don't want to be your main damage dealer
The black knight halberd is considered to be the best weapon in the game by a lot of people, be careful though. It 100% trivializes the game, but no shame in using it, just depends how you wanna play my man!
8:50 some weapons got special abilities (mainly tail weapons) if you hold them with two hands and press heavy attack (it's similar to ashes of war in elden ring)
That ring, Havel's Ring, will help you with that fat-roll when dodging (stay under 50% equip load for mid rolls and under 25% for fast rolls) ;) Black Knight's Halberd is a top tier weapon, rare RNG drop. Great damage, excellent range :)
This Drake Sword is the easy way to get around the infernal starting part of the game xd but everyone should play the way they want, and omg, you are so lucky, both demon greataxe and black knight halberd in the same run... you are so lucky man
idk if anyone mentioned this to you, but when you hear the bell sounds, that actually is some other player ringing them (at least if you are playing Online). p.s. also it looks liek you missed the best shield in the game, near the Black Knight, near the Darkroot Gardens ..
A little tip to "de-clunk" the combat a bit, if you aren't locked on then you can run in any direction but if you're locked on you can only run forwards or backwards. It's generally advised to not be locked on for most fights due to the increased mobility and easier access to running attacks. Also if you're ballsy then you can drop your equip load to under 25% and you'll get a faster roll with more I-frames (13 as opposed to 11 with mid roll). Also glad that you ended up using the claymore even without my advice lol. It's like my go to weapon for every build. Hits like a truck through the whole game, great scaling, light equip load, and you can coat it in elemental resins
Pro tip: the black knight halberd you got is an absolute unit of a weapon. I will be honest when i say it is pretty much easy mode from here on if you use it.
I never got the Black Night Halberd in any of my playthroughs... It's considered kind of OP, so you might consider not using it if you want to keep the challenge. Your experience is apparent so you could absolutely do it!

@@BassPlays902 lets be honest... first souls experiens is always the hardest... you beat elden ring and dark souls 3... dark souls 1 will be so easy for you anyways... you first tried gargoyls. Back in the days that was not that easy for us (when the game released). Or the way you easy backstab the havel or black knights. We panicked :D but now it is so easy to manipulate enemies ai in dark souls 1. It says alot... just have fun with the game and play as you prefer. Dark souls 1 is a magical game.
my boy you gotta use havel's ring, the amount of equip load it gives you is ridiculous, that with a few points in endurance and you can mid to fast roll in some decently heavy armour, the black knight halberd is a very very good weapon, i personally dont use it too much since im a big sword person myself zwihander ftw, also get the smithing box, it will allow you to do some basic smithing at bonfires, and as some others have said, read absolutely everything, theres plenty that is progression direction as well as lore, getting the crest of artorius will let you get past that locked door next to the illusory wall bonfire, instead of having to go obscene lengths to get around, there is some decent early farming to be had beyond it, wont say anything on where to go though, blind figuring that out is half of the fun here lol
Me personally, i think it would have been way more entertaining to see you beat the game legitimately. The sword you got from the dragons tail is kind of a cheat weapon up until you get past zen's fortress.
@@BassPlays902 then definitely try out the zweihander. Really great weapon with a pretty great moveset. Especially the running light attack and the neutral heavy attack which flattens enemies to the ground, including Black Knights. FYI, Black Knight weapons do 20% extra damage to chaos demons.
Funny thing about getting used to having to stand still while healing: When the remaster was announced, there was a rumor they were going to change the healing to let you move like DS3 while healing, and the "hardcore" fans that hate everything that has come after this game were seething at the mere thought.

If you're having problems with constantly jumping you can go into your settings and rebind it to left analog stick to make jumping more controllable

my boy you gotta use havel's ring, the amount of equip load it gives you is ridiculous, that with a few points in endurance and you can mid to fast roll in some decently heavy armour, the black knight halberd is a very very good weapon, i personally dont use it too much since im a big sword person myself zwihander ftw, also get the smithing box, it will allow you to do some basic smithing at bonfires, and as some others have said, read absolutely everything, theres plenty that is progression direction as well as lore, getting the crest of artorius will let you get past that locked door next to the illusory wall bonfire, instead of having to go obscene lengths to get around, there is some decent early farming to be had beyond it, wont say anything on where to go though, blind figuring that out is half of the fun here lol

Me personally, i think it would have been way more entertaining to see you beat the game legitimately. The sword you got from the dragons tail is kind of a cheat weapon up until you get past zen's fortress.

@@BassPlays902 then definitely try out the zweihander. Really great weapon with a pretty great moveset. Especially the running light attack and the neutral heavy attack which flattens enemies to the ground, including Black Knights.
FYI, Black Knight weapons do 20% extra damage to chaos demons.
Funny thing about getting used to having to stand still while healing: When the remaster was announced, there was a rumor they were going to change the healing to let you move like DS3 while healing, and the "hardcore" fans that hate everything that has come after this game were seething at the mere thought.
