    No better feeling than pulling the right part out of your van you don’t normally carry but happen to have. Nice job, I hope these owners know how lucky they are.

    I love the smell of electrical in the morning. $$$
    My upsell is to advise the customer to have them serviced every X or so months for preventative maintenance after repairs are complete. It's a good diag fee and a quick vacuum/grease/ etc. and the customer has peace of mind. Good for all. Sometimes I send out reminders and they usually go for it. Icemakers in bars/restaurants (Manitowoc I'm looking at you) are good for this because they need to be serviced and kept clean or they can catch heat from the health department.
    Another one in the bag though. Good job buddy.

    5:27 I see the label says “Orientation Horizontal” - does that really matter especially since you’ll be installing it vertically oriented?

    • @restaurantrepairs
      @restaurantrepairs  Місяць тому +5

      So……. Resilient based motors (with the rubber and shock absorbers) live a much shorter life mounted vertical as the rubber wears down holding up the motor faster. Engineered for horizontal. However…. Literally everyone has gone to a resilient base. Shocking I know since they want to sell more motors. It’ll last 5 years instead of the 19 the previous one lasted. But that’s the way of everything now. Sadly..

      You should take the rubber plugs out of the drain holes in the bottom of the motor, and be sure the drain holes in the top have rubbery hole plugs to keep water out. For small motors like these orientation doesn't matter, for larger motors there can be problems with sidewise force on the bearings the horizonal motor wasn't designed for.

      @davidnull5590 ya you right on the plugs.

    Oh Come on Joe, you took the easy way out. Why not show all of your viewers how to properly rebuild an electric motor? There are videos of children in Pakistan taking those motors apart and rebuilding them with very crude tools. Junk yards in the U.S. sell packed shipping containers of dead electric motors of all sizes to Karachi to be rebuilt. No one knows who they sell the fixed motor to. Next, you could make your own replacement ball-bearings. It would be an interesting video - All you need is charcoal for the fire.

      So actually….. especially with filter machine motors it’s only ever the bearings that seize up and I have a bag of 7 dollar bearings that I have changed before to revive an 800 motor. BUT… I’m happy to ship this one to you for your experimentation 🧬

    $350 for that motor! Yikes!! Or, $180 on Ebay - new, brand name Century same model number.
    :Century is now the brand name for the motor line formerly called A.O. Smith. Regal-Beloit purchased the A.O. Smith electrical products company in 2011 and changed it to Century."
    And, elsewhere: Century C426V2 3/4 HP 1725 RPM 115/208-230VAC Capacitor-Start Belt Drive Motor-19890748
    SKU: 19890748
    $110.49 (but you have to have it delivered. A guy could make a few dollars buying motors like this cheap and later re-selling near list price)

      I'm sorry to my customers and employees, we will be closed for the next 3 - 4 days. A $350 motor in the kitchen hood went out and we are unable to run the grill without it.
      The good news is that I was able to find one online for $180 saving my company some serious money, so I ordered it promptly.
      Again I'm sorry for the inconvenience and I hope you will understand. This surely will be a hardship for the company as well due to loss in revenue and reputation.
      Sincerely Managment.

      @HVACR559 right. Reality is service company retailing that 400 motor gonna charge 750 for it. Sadly it’s not about what it costs it’s about what it’s worth (to your point). Which is messed up

    • @HVACR559
      @HVACR559 Місяць тому +1

      The $150 ish hourly rate alone will not keep the doors open on a a service company

      Some companies don't do regular maintenance, calling who ever is available when something doesn't work. You rarely find spare anything with those customers.

    most neglected item in hvacr..... the VENTILATION. Drives me nuts when I do a rooftop PM and see neglected exhaust units. Far too common.
