I still class myself as a beginner, 2 ish years in. I have the hardest time finding installed plug-ins etc! Bought one a month ago, still never used it lol... I will try this, thanks for the help. : )
the best way... if on windows.... "C:\Program Files\Common Files" you will see VST2 and VST3 folders... NOTE this will only show if you have installed the plugins... Now you can make the shortcuts of those folder and put them in the Abel folder and it will scan for your plugins... Well this is usefull if you are using diffirent daws so it helps.... i think installing on the default place of the VST is better then changing the locations coz most DAWs find for the Common folder to look the Plugins... I know its a lot of information but this should be added in this video.... Good video broo thankx for sharing... One last TIP... VST2 can be tricky coz some of them may be OLD and dose not support in the Ableton so it will crash so make it sure you have tested or they are qulity plugins so that you dont get any issues in it... coz if for any reason Ableton dont like the plugin the daw will crash.. thankx for sharing thow i was looking for a solution for not saving presets in some plugins and thats a pain for me lol...
Placing a shortcut in a VST folder that points to other folders is something i never knew would work hahaha Even for a intermediate user like myself, that's useful information and can save a lot of time and frustration Or we can just fight against plugin developers and Steingberg to just let us choose which folders we wanna use
To me it seems like a really arbitrary limitation to not be able to point to multiple locations, or have some other solution. Bitwig allows for multiple locations I believe. Thanks for watching Dadda, beginning of phase two for the channel with fresh beginner friendly content.
@@CollectiveIntelligenceMusic yes, it is really weird that Ableton won't let us use more folder locations. On the contrary, it does become more streamlined if you have limited options as this will make it more user friendly only allowing 1 custom folder.
When dragging .dlll files into the correct folder, Ableton is able to scan them all but they still don't show up in the browser? Anything else I can try?
why i can't find "vst" when i go in plugins ? i only have vst3 ! please helps me lol i did everything even putting the folder into an extern storage, casue one drive is annnoying for vst. so idk why i can't find it
Note for people who are trying to map a VST folder to a drive that's on your network and not on your local machine--it doesn't work. Saved the VST folders to a local drive and that worked.
Hi sir, I loved your content and it's good and it could even be great with improvement in editing and pacing. I can help you in that and I have planned something for you that will skyrocket your channel growth. If you do not mind I would love to share my portfolio
It's not actually simple to a lot of people. You have to consider some may have no prior experience with computers and need to be shown step by step. Thanks for watching.
@@CollectiveIntelligenceMusic just getting started on ableton live lite, im trying to learn vst's/plugins, but still not sure where to start. I have my VST 2 & VST 3 folders ready to go, but i dont have any plugins or vsts showing up anywhere. I downloaded the core library and a couple other of the free downloads, but not sure where to download vst/plugins in order to put into those folders. thanks!
