    Thank you for shining a light on this 💡 As a practitioner of the Wim Hof method I am having a cold shower every morning. I am also doing other forms of cold exposure 🧊 I started doing this two years ago after I caught COVID and really struggled to recover. I haven’t been sick since then. 💪 Not even a cold. 😅

    Grandma used to tell me to put on a jacket or I would catch a cold when I was younger. I tried to tell her that was a common misconception and that it wasnt technically true. She was having NONE of it. I thought she was going to start beating me with her slippers! 😂

    The introduction of viruses for which your body has insufficient ability to fight (immunity). Thank you Dr. for mentioning the low humidity. This is a great reason to hydrate in the winter, as well as in the summer.

    I’m sick right now with cold. I actually felt a bit better just to get out in the fresh air for awhile today. One can only rest for so long!

      @divinecomedy0 I have heard it said that getting out in the fresh air can help you feel better--if you can manage to drag yourself outside. Good for you for making it happen! Wishing you fast healing!

    I wonder if in the old days--when people at times spent hours overexposed to cold while walking/travelling--if the extreme stress on the body weakened their immune system, thus making them less able to fight off ailments? There certainly were a lot of stories of people taken over by sickness after overexposure.

    This is true but I also thought that body temperature dictates immune response which is why our body temperature increases when we are sick and we seek warm areas (chills). This trait is so effective that it is seen in almost all large bodies species

  • @mallikadasi
    @mallikadasi 13 годин тому +1

    Dr. Mandell...isn't it true that the cause of getting a cold is a WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM? Viruses are everywhere. We have thousands already in our bodies. ie. I have herbes simplex in my lip area. When I get a cold then the fever blister comes BECAUSE OF my WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM. ( I rarely get colds or fever blisters anymore because I stay alert to having a STRONG IMMUNE SYSTEM.)

    Many people have told me over the years that if I go outside in the cold with wet hair, then I'm going to get sick. I tell them "no, I won't", and guess what? I never have. I don't blow dry my hair, and let it air dry, and I usually wash it before work in the morning, so go out with it wet. I've done that most of my life, and the cold has never made me sick. Some people (that I know) tend to be a little overdramatic sometimes, too, about things like that, and many other things, as well.
