Despite being an atheist myself, it brought tears to my eyes to hear Ry Cooder sing his song about Woody Guthrie and Jesus at a live concert last summer.
@@goodun6081 no worries.. you dont have to believe in GOD to believe in heaven... consider it an alternate dimension... y'know they have a helluva band... Levon's at the Helm. :)
If cancer hadn't taken him, I don't know that his heart could have withstood what has happened to America and what some Americans have become in the last few years. The selfishness and meanness and cruelty that has risen, or been pulled to the surface in America, breaks my own heart everyday.
I’ve watched this video countless times over the years. Just tonight it hit me how sparse, how economical is the number of people and instruments being played. Not a wasted note, great harmonies, driving rhythm section, awesome solos. But pick up whatever your instrument is and try to play along with it. Not so simple. Great, great performance.
Levon had such a beautiful smile His smile can take your heart he once said he was a drummer who sang a bit well truth is he was a great drummer who sang great Thank you for your legacy of music gone but never forgotten
A very talented man, and the Band that is his backup, outstanding. So sad that there will never be another new Levon Helms song. But thanks for sharing this video of them all. Such a loss for our world, but Heaven sure did gain an angel when Levon Helms was called home.
Great video ! My brother bought me the DVD at the merch counter after seeing Levon play The Ryman in Nashville years ago. I`ll always remember Karl(brother) saying that Robert Plant and Allison Krauss were there groovin` to Levon`s music and hangin` out at the soundboard. Karl always loved sitting in that area to see who would come by. I especially love this song from it. Still missing Levon, Rick and Richard from The Band. Three great talents who`s voices blended beautifully. Started listening to The Band shortly after "The Brown" album came out, but never got to see them until they re-formed without Robbie in the 80s. At least I got to see The Band with everybody else still on board !
I agree, Levon was the master mind behind “ The Band “ and he had a really talented group of musicians that could really work together for as long as they did. But, all and all I liked the small four piece blues band the best.
His daughter is amazing and has his soul. i've been lucky enough to see her alive a few times and once she did a rendition of Atlantic City and I almost cried.
Levon was a pretty good actor. He played Leon Pickett,a railroad worker in “End Of The Line”, a film that came out in the late 80’s. I recommend it highly.
@@ronphillips6336 Hi Ron, my comment tried to reflect on the fact ..in my opinion, that this video captured really down-home music with a HOF musician in the mix. I could not understand how some were "thumbing down" on a really good and easy piece of music. This song didn't suggest anything adverse or derogitory to anyone through the lyrics, it's very neutral and its' a real peaceful song but some chose to "down thumb" just because they can. All are entitled to their opinions but none are wrong are they. hope the above expresses adequately my response in earlier comment. Best regards sir. Mark. Reply should we need to continue this dialogue.
I'd absolutely love to see more of these videos if anyone has them please share i absolutely love watching these videos and its pretty obvious levon loved making these videos RIP LEVON AND KNOW THAT YOUR STILL PUTTING SMILES ON FACES WITH THESE VIDEOS
I actually found the Midnight Ramble Sessions Vol. 1-3 on Amazon. I doubt you can get them anymore but maybe Amy Helm might have some Idea if they are still available,. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. I haven't uploaded any new material in years but I may in the future. I'll try to get some more Levon Helm videos uploaded.
Levon has no peers. He is simply incomparable. A kind, gentle and old soul.
He was my favorite drummer of all time. He played drums like nobody else ever could!

Levon Helm symbolized everything great about American music and its enormous positive benefit to humanity. I wish he had lived to be 100 years old.
If cancer hadn't taken him, I don't know that his heart could have withstood what has happened to America and what some Americans have become in the last few years. The selfishness and meanness and cruelty that has risen, or been pulled to the surface in America, breaks my own heart everyday.

Excellent et difficile à faire👍👏
