Супер! Кстати этот пинцет с пластиковыми держалками, то ли раньше не замечал, то ли просто новый, но это должно быть удобно так как он не отводит тепло. Лайк как обычно. Keep it up good work!
Nice. Also, most boards have an indicator of some kind and it's no so much for people in the repair business but the setup of the pick & place machines. That controller also has a dot on it (most chips will) and there is that large copper dot on the board showing which way to orient the chip. Just in case anykne ever forgets which way the letters are pointed.
Thank you. Fantastic video. This is my first time here, and I learned a lot. Definitely going to look at your other videos (specifically on solder/desolder technique, which is an area I'm struggling to achieve consistency with). A new subscriber!
The only objection I have is that the controller can be configured to reserve part of the nand flash as spare and some of the configurations can be specific to the size of the device as it is supposed to be sold. Also the list of cells that became bad over time and were replaced with spare cells could be stored on the controller. So, as I see it, it's not just a matter of swapping things out.
Nice job. When you receive a flash drive from a customer, do you go out and purchase similar models to use as a donor? Or do you try to purchase various flash drives ahead of time hoping that you will eventually get something from a customer that matches. I would imaging getting an older model flash drive from a customer could cause issues if you can no longer find a similar device available. In a perfect world, you could have the customer send you a donor along with the failed device, as long as they are both the same model.
never throw anything away - is one thing I picked up right at the start of my career. Some things I buy, some things clients let me keep after we send the data back.
I have a question but first, I am an IT but not into board level knowledge of things like that. So my question is, why is that when a flash drive is full at 100%, it totally stops working? With that experience for so man times, I always advice my workmates to avoid maxing the capacity of any of their storage device.
You seem to have a lot of problems with Lexar devices like memory card and USB thumb drives. I own a lot of Sandisk and Lexar devices and have luckily never had a problem with any of them. Despite being a serious hobby photographer for over 15 years and working in IT. Is it true that you see more Lexar devices than other brands? I think Sandisk is the most sold brand. BTW thanks for sharing your knowledge
What is your take on how Deepspar works? Do you find it a bit annoying that it communicates with their server to confirm/read data and send it back to them, then retrieve it and so on...Are there alternative tools that perform same tasks but you have more control over the data handling?
Good real world repair guide with free tips! I have a small paper slip with a qr to external media in 2 and 5 packs that every client gets with their device that suggest to keep one as a donor. Also lol...we know why the controller first, preheating the board for the bga melt :)
Erkin, would you please consider producing a video showcasing the head combs you use for head stack assembly swaps? I currently make my own head combs but I’d greatly appreciate seeing the solutions other data recovery businesses actually use. Thank you!
Ok that, but what to do when you have a flash drive with write protection? I have here a SanDisk Ultra 64GB USB flash stick which got write protected a few days ago when I transfered some data from the PC to it. I've tried many things but none worked. I bought it a few months ago, it's not even used so much. Interestingly, in the past I owned a few A-Data sticks (all of them with less capacity then this SanDisk. This SanDisk was with the biggest capacity I've ever own in the form of USB stick drives, with 64GB), and none of them got ever write-protected (If I recall correctly one of them once tried to get write-protected but I somehow managed to save it and it worked flawlessly from then and it works now, too). And this SanDisk here where I live (Croatia) and in the store where I bought it was even more expensive then A-Data one with the SAME capacity! I think that this SanDisk has an active warranty on it but I will probably not bother with it and plus I'm not willing to provide my data files which are still (though read-only) on this stick available to third-party if I take it back... I will probably get the 64GB A-Data this time... Cheers!
thanks for that i have a few usb i can do that can you tell me how to unlock a usb i pulled it out while it was writting to it now its locked i have tried lots passwords to in my setting
Disculpa como puedo ver las pista de una USB udp flash que se rompió en dos . Es posible raspar con un esmeril para llegar a la pista o como ? Espero puedas apoyarme saludos
I have a flash drive that has become unreadable/unwritable, I think it was after I disconnected the drive while Etcher was running. There is no information worth retrieving from that drive (just a copy of Ubuntu), I just wonder if that is a plausible occurrence and there is a way to make it usable again.
Usually you can find repair utilities on USBDEV that will allow you to "clean the NAND" and rebuild the flash drive kinda like factory reset. But it depends on the controller of your flash drive. I know those utilities exist but I never really used any.
Hello ..please reply to my comment. My external wd my passport hard drive doesn't get recognised when I connect it and it spins for few seconds then stops . There's some important data in there so please can u tell me if I can fix it and what's the problem.
I have a question. My 128gb samsung flash drive (type c) cannot be formatted. I delete files but reconnecting it to pc, the files are still there. Format fails. Tried cmd method also. Fails. File format shows as fat32 when it should be exFAT. Anyone knows what's the issue and fix for this?
I have seen larger flash drives formatted in FAT32 where the sector sizes are multiples larger. I have a 256GB that the sectors are 8X normal size and is not a standard but works ok. I think the volume descriptors are different and it has a short hidden file in the beginning of the disk which may be a USB driver or something. I use it to store my music collection and have never deleted any files so not sure if I have the same issue deleting files. It is possible your files are archived or set to be "read only" and why they can't be deleted.
This channel is not about saving the old device to use it again. Everything I show here is about getting data that is important. Data recovery is very expensive and can get into thousands of dollars, so it is only for that data.
Nobody who watches this is going to be able to do any of these things, they will just brick their data. And it's not called 'the swap' it's called 'using a donor board', usually by the time somebody needs recovery just buying another one that looks the same will mean a different controller. Also NANDs don't like being lifted without keeping their data. The TLDR is if you really care about your data find someone who really knows what they're doing who specialises in NAND recovery.
I bet you're fun at parties. I've used the same methods and given same advice for decades. I bet a hot swap of bios chips on live production systems or using a ISA network card to flash 14-18 PIN dips just terrifies you. Sorry you paid a hack and lost your data.
@@hddrecoveryservices maybe confused vram (not nvram) or sram with nand for some reason because any bit of google-foo will affirm that nand is non-volatile and that's just everyday trolling.
Your video title is misleading. I have two drives and both are dead simply because they was pulled from the computer without first clicking the eject option in Explorer. Nothing you show here will help resolve that, so no in fact this video does NOT show how to repair ANY flash drive!
Sure it does, but sadly you don't realize that your devices do not need repair. They need recovery, which I have a ton of videos about on this channel. You can't fix a car with a blown engine by swapping that blown engine into a different car. If you don't know that the issue you have is NAND related, then I can't help you smartpants.
I want to recover my SD CARD.assidently format on SONY A7iii camera.my wedding day all videos on that memeory card.so plz help me. how can I contact you?im waiting for your reply
We can recover it as long as the card is not using LDPC algorithm like on new fast 200mb/s plus Sony and 170mb/s SanDisk cards. This would cost $900USD. If interested you can drop my DM on instagram @hddrecovery or request from web site www.hddrecovery.ca/contact-us

Hello,
What is your solder type?
1:54 I would bet just touching that leg with the soldering iron would have worked just fine, perhaps a trace scrape. Still nice to see the process.
