The Inner circle definitely is a cult. Casian even berates Nesta at one point for talking "badly" about Rhys, when she was only saying the truth about how Rhys had treated her. Also, I hate his POVs because he only seemed to think about two things: How fabulous and cool Rhysand is, and how horny he is for Nesta.
Given that Feyre said in one book Rysand could buy her a bathtub full of gems and it would barely be a drop in his coffers, exactly how much is Nesta drinking?
cannot wait for the next video and if you delve into the concept/lore of nesta's powers , from my (limited) exposure to the books, i genuinely think it's one of the coolest things from the series and it made actually consider reading the book lol
I feel like this series has at least two characters mourning over some supposed great lost love, so naturally the author can't let Nesta greive over her literal lost humanity since there's nothing obviously romantic or sexual about that.
Also lets talk about how much Feyre and Rhysand SHIT on Tamlin because he sat and did nothing and watched as Feyre was tortured and put through trials.....and then fast forward Feyre and Rhysand sit and do nothing and watch as Elain and Nesta have their lives ripped out from under them being forced into the Cauldren. People love to argue saying, "she couldnt do anything she was protexting Cassian and Azriel or the king wouldve killed them!" Well guess what! Tamlin did nothing because if he did, Lucien, Feyre, and the other spring court members would suffer horribly! Just driving home your point of, if its a decision made by someone in the Inner Circle its a noble sacrifce but god forbid anyone else do it cause then its just terrible and theyre a POS
Also the death of the queen was SO anticlimactic.....like you mean to tell me.....we just spend 700 pages preparing for this bad guy, Nesta can now fight and somewhat has a hold on these awesome magical items that she can use and not die, figured out all her internal turmoil......for the queen to be killed in 1 paragraph????? WHAT?!?! And don't get me started with Cassian having the mind control thing and then magically being the only one to break it when it's most convenient 🫠
Love her or hate her, Nesta is a mess of a character. We are supposed to dislike her bc shes mean and rude, but then there are literal murders in the inner circle like Mor, Amren and the three bat boys. I'm sorry, why are we cheering on the inner circle as a morally grey cast of characters but Nesta is a demon? Talk about weird and fucked up morals in the sjm universe.
i cannot wait for part two!! as a fellow completionist with absolutely no intention of reading these books i appreciate your service so much (insert salute emoji) you're braver than the marines. this plot makes me so mad because like realistically taking this approach to someone with really bad depression is highly likely to make them take their own life, and if it does make them get better it would be out of spite and so they could get as far away as possible. it just shows such a terrible understanding of mental illness, which given how little sjm knows about other things isn't surprising.
Yes, the representation of depression was abysmal. As someone who has battled depression before, I can say, if my family treated me as the inner circle treated Nesta, I wouldn't be here now. It took months of therapy, and still I can slip back into it if I'm not careful with my mental health. The fact Nesta just got over it with some exercise and work felt like a slap in the face.

You’re my spirit animal in so many ways lol. Same kind of humor, similar tastes in books, you going into grad school to study history and I just finished my own grad school program…hold on are we sisters?!? 😭 Anyway I read the first ACOTAR book earlier this year. Already felt like it was a overhyped mess with unlikable MCs. Legit slammed my hand on my desk and/or bed a few times with frustration like a madwoman at most of the sh*t said or done in that book, but I still attempted to give book 2 a try….and stopped after reading half of the first chapter and decided to not even continue it. Nesta was literally the only one I tolerated in that first book so to hear that Sara ruined her is just peachy. Great vid! And good luck with your grad school adventures! 😊
Yaaaay, good on you for doing a GoFundMe! I know that was really hard to do and I'm really proud that you did it! Also, God bless for putting yourself through another Sarah J Maas video and RIP to your liver. And your wig is also super cute.
I read the first book and said I would not continue the series because how she just character annihilated Tamlin, but you make me want to read them even though they were not your favorite. I want to read and experience what your experiencing…I have issues 😂😂
I couldn't find it in me to finish, and I'm a completionist, too. I stopped almost halfway through wings and ruin yesterday. I feel liberated, but now I have to watch everyone who trashed it so i feel vindicated, because one of my besties SOOOO wanted me to read these and love them.
I think the only reason i was able to get through the series is due to the full cast and graphic audio. The voice actors are nice. If i read it eyeballs to page, i know i would have rage quit.
I read Sarah J mass Crescent city. I read it based off TikTok reviews and I had known nothing about this author. While reading it I picked up so many similarities that you were catching in these books of hers. It is very hard for Sara J mass main characters to seem likable because they are so empty headed but the reason why they are empty headed isn’t because she makes them like that it’s because she likes all of her characters to be this bad ass mega feminine in charge of her own sexual life and won’t listen to a thing a man says kind of character. This literally destroys the writing for me because the male characters can say something that makes sense and can tell her to stay here to be safe but she won’t listen and she will not listen for nothing ever in any of these books. You haven’t read Crescent city yet so I don’t want to spoil it but the ending is what got me because it made no sense a lot of gore a lot of blood but still at the end it made no sense because the main character becomes even more powerful even more unstoppable. These characters have no kryptonite and that’s what the issue is they can never rlly get hurt. Another huge thing for me is how much her characters contradict themselves. For example in Crescent city the main character was so against putting her foot into anything that didn’t have to do with her friends death and had became so obsessed with the crime yet when shit hit the fan all she wanted was peace and for her and her lover dude to be at peace. Obviously she got that because the Sara J mass book so why when I picked up the second book to see if it would be a smidge better it starts off with their perfect life and the main male character telling her not to get into some shit again and her literally getting into shit again I close the book right away couldn’t do it.
Your insights are very refreshing and they make me think about the story in a whole different way, so thank you for that! But i do have to comment, that saying Feyre is responsible for Nesta and Elaine turning fairy is a bit drastic, considering she literally sacrificed herself for them multiple times... for her to find love is well deserved i think. But i also agree that they shouldn't have shamed her for not immediately finding a perfect coping mechanism and threatening to throw her out was that a bit too much. But i do appreciate that we have a character who messes up, unlike feyre who seems to always know what the right thing to say is and everyone favours her... like for what exactly being artsy and storming in with your head first without a plan i just there are so many more points 😂
Me: *watches the intro* Me: *immediately screaming at the TV* IT'S TRUE, IT'S TRUUUUUUE. Still need to watch the rest of the video, but I'm hooked haha.
Just want to say it wasn’t that they wanted her to “just get over it” she’s was drinking and partaking in other destructive habits every night. No she can’t die from it, but all the more reason to help her sooner, she probably would’ve been like that for decades. She was even being vicious to the one person she loved, Elaine. She’s a stubborn person, who needed the intervention…
