    My condolences to Ken’s Custom Iron. IMHO a simple notch ground into the flat stock would enhance the design by disallowing any movement with the bars. Again, so sorry for their loss and praise to the simplicity of his design!

    It's a shame Ken is no longer with us, but the company will be going strong I'm sure. I met Ken and his family about a year ago, and they were the nicest, most genuine people. I'll continue to purchase from them as long as I'm swinging a hammer. Thanks for the video John!

    “Somebody give me a hand to get up.” LOL. Spit my coffee out. I was just thinking that you’re a bit more flexible than me. If I got down on the ground, I’d have to roll over and crawl up the wall to stand up. Arthritis, bad knees, torn shoulders……. It’s a bitch getting old and still thinking your 25 years old.
    Cheers, John!

    I also hadn't heard of Ken's passing, a sad bit of news. I've been using Ken's hammer-and-tong racks, full and half size, since 2017-ish, from my starting garage shop and now through two other shop locations. Simply no comparison on a bang-for-buck basis. Sounds like I need to make another few purchases over there, glad they're keeping the business running.

    Small tool holder swap the left and right so the mounting tabs are to the outside and you could screw them in to the backside of the legs without the board.

    For the bars you could use the silver pencil and put reference marks in the bottom of the bars and then make small slot notches on the bottom that the bars can set down and the notches will keep the bars steady from moving one side or the other in the brackets.

    Think I’ll go buy another set of Rapid Tongs now, maybe a tool rack.

    I've got a couple of Ken's grinder holders in my shop and they're absolutely great! Question for you, it looks like you installed those organizers with the squared-off bolts/screws you've shown in previous videos, is that correct? I always assumed that the downside of doing that was you'd have to install them with pliers or a monkey wrench or similar, but are you able to just use regular sockets/wrenches on them? Thanks for another great video, love seeing the smaller shop coming together!

    • @BlackBearForge
      @BlackBearForge  9 місяців тому +1

      A 12 point socket will work on a square headed bolt. But in this case I used a pin socket that adjusts to just about anything.

    Are you still happy with your gas forge? I haven't fired my coal forge up in a while but man I love that smell.
    Gas is easy to light and quicker to get going no doubt but I've never used it.
    I need a strong pair of inward pulling snap ring pliers. You can not buy a set strong enough with enough leverage to get a 2 inch snap ring out. To get any snap ring out without losing it you need to be able to put one hand over it and one hand on the pliers.
    What type of metal would you recommend for snap ring pliers and how about hardening the tips?
    Nice rack here to btw!

    • @BlackBearForge

      Still very happy with the forge. I've never made anything like snap ring pliers, but I would probably start with something like 4140 0r 5160
