My condolences to Ken's wife and family and I thank them for keeping his legacy going that is an awesome way to honor him
RIP to Ken, got news a few weeks ago! Condolences to family and friends, a champion of the community who will be missed!😢
I really like your style of videos. Your humour is awesome, don't be afraid to add more. RIP Ken.
Sorry to hear that Ken passed away I have bought several things from them and everything has been top notch
My condolences to Ken’s Custom Iron. IMHO a simple notch ground into the flat stock would enhance the design by disallowing any movement with the bars. Again, so sorry for their loss and praise to the simplicity of his design!
I REALLY need to get my shop organized. I'll be paying Ken's website a visit today and buying a few of these products.
I am saddened to learn of Ken’s passing. I enjoy very much learning blacksmithing from his, and your, videos. Condolences to his family. I will continue to stock my home-built tools and kits from Ken’s Custom Iron.
I've been eyeing those racks for a minute myself. Now I know what the next project will be.👍
We miss you Ken
Thanks for sharing with us today John. Condolences to Ken's families and thanks for carrying on his family business, Those are some really nice tool racks they sent you and so simple to install and use. Looking forward to seeing them all put together and how you'll use them in your shops. Stay safe and keep up the great videos and sharing with us. Fred.
My sincere condolences...I am very glad his work continues...I have purchased several chisels from them and they are high quality tools...God bless and carry on
That is so sad. 😢 My Condolences to the family and thank you for lending him to us❤
I didn't know that Ken had passed away. I hope they keep the business going since they make great stuff. Looking forward to the review on the other stuff they sent to you. Thanks for the videos.
Sorry to hear about Kens passing , I wish his family well! I've purchased several items from Kens iron in the last few years. Found them to be of superior quality .
i didnt know for Ken's death :( rest in peace Ken. thanks for your amazing videos John. Love from france
My condolences to Ken's family, keeping his business alive is a great way of preserving his memory, you did him honour by your excitement over these tong racks.
I didn't know about Ken's custom iron products, it looks like he (they) make good products. Thanks for sharing, looks like some very well made products, I'll be looking for the next videos on the rest of these items.
My sincere condolences to Kens family.
John V.
Condolences to Kens family, I’ve purchased stuff from him in the past and have been very satisfied. Glad “someone “ helped you up John, it’s a bit#ch getting up from the floor for me too..😀
It's a shame Ken is no longer with us, but the company will be going strong I'm sure. I met Ken and his family about a year ago, and they were the nicest, most genuine people. I'll continue to purchase from them as long as I'm swinging a hammer. Thanks for the video John!
The old and rusty tools are also the ones with the best and most reliable steel, as well as the experienced and coal-stained blacksmiths are the ones with the strongest spirits.
My heart goes out to Ken's family 😢
Rest in peace ken , thank you and your family for the great products,
And thank you for the update I had no idea that he had passed away , god bless Ken and his family 🙏
Ken's Custom Iron has some nice stuff - I really like that rack design. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
That is sad, I didnt know Ken passed. I am glad his legacy lives on as it is a great resource for beginning blacksmiths (or any blacksmith really)
Nice video, I had a chuckle when you asked one of us to help you up. 😂
Keep up the good work, you are one of my inspirations for making stuff.
Regards.
Ohh i'm so sad that Ken passed away, condolences to the family.
“Somebody give me a hand to get up.” LOL. Spit my coffee out. I was just thinking that you’re a bit more flexible than me. If I got down on the ground, I’d have to roll over and crawl up the wall to stand up. Arthritis, bad knees, torn shoulders……. It’s a bitch getting old and still thinking your 25 years old.
Cheers, John!
Whipple
Glad you enjoyed it
Great folks! Everbody, please continue to support Kens Custom Iron.
I didnt know Ken had passed. Great to hear they are going to continue the business though! I just wish the US postal and courier services didnt charge ridiculous amounts of money for overseas deliveries, then I could get a few of their products!
I also hadn't heard of Ken's passing, a sad bit of news. I've been using Ken's hammer-and-tong racks, full and half size, since 2017-ish, from my starting garage shop and now through two other shop locations. Simply no comparison on a bang-for-buck basis. Sounds like I need to make another few purchases over there, glad they're keeping the business running.
Really cool stuff there from Ken’s!!!
Small tool holder swap the left and right so the mounting tabs are to the outside and you could screw them in to the backside of the legs without the board.
And as a side note on the arms.. I could use a second... like life taught me., get it done with what you got
Rest in peace 😀😀
For the bars you could use the silver pencil and put reference marks in the bottom of the bars and then make small slot notches on the bottom that the bars can set down and the notches will keep the bars steady from moving one side or the other in the brackets.
Wow, I hadn't heard about Ken passing away. I'm sad to hear that. He will be missed. They have a great company with great products. I have many of them.
I'm sorry to hear about Ken's passing. My prayers will go out to his family 👪. In the mean time keep up the good work and God bless you and your family 👪.🙏
I purchased the work stand from Ken a couple of years ago and it's been VERY useful.
I love Ken's Custom Iron products. Another great American company, excellent products, and super nice people. Be sure to check them out for your blacksmith needs.
Good to see you're still using your older vise as opposed to the new one you bought. I just bought an old star 6" 100 lb (+?) one today in excellent condition and glad I did. Helped I got a good deal too!
Hi,
I really like your videos.

RIP Ken's prayers for his family 🙏✝️ may God bless them thanks for the update and the review on the tool racks stay safe out there
I was unaware that Ken had passed. He’ll be missed by many, myself included. Good that they’re carrying on with the business and his legacy. It was kind of Ken’s Custom to sponsor the video and to send over the racks.
Think I’ll go buy another set of Rapid Tongs now, maybe a tool rack.
Another excellent video sir.
RiP Ken. John those are awesome. Hopefully they work out well for many years to come my friend. Can't wait to see more updates an projects and many more videos soon sir. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep forge lit. Keep Making. God bless.
Condolences to Kens family. I hope all will be well in there future. They sent some nice shop fixtures. Even though I am a woodworker they look to be useful in my shop. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Nice tools racks, sad to hear about KEN, I have been happy with items I purchased through them, thanks for the reviews.
I hadn’t heard Ken passed on. Thanks for the update and review of the tool organizers, better than what I made.
Thanks for watching!
Great tool racks.
Your videos are always looked for by me. Sorry we lost Ken, thanks for announcing that.
As with many others, I wasn't aware Ken passed away. What a shame, I learned a fair bit from his videos.
Really love your videos Thank you for the amazing content
Nice job John!!
What I noticed is the nice finish on all the parts. No sharp edges. Great work.
Is there any update on the projects from the beginner series, did they sell like you thought they would?
I've got a couple of Ken's grinder holders in my shop and they're absolutely great! Question for you, it looks like you installed those organizers with the squared-off bolts/screws you've shown in previous videos, is that correct? I always assumed that the downside of doing that was you'd have to install them with pliers or a monkey wrench or similar, but are you able to just use regular sockets/wrenches on them? Thanks for another great video, love seeing the smaller shop coming together!
A 12 point socket will work on a square headed bolt. But in this case I used a pin socket that adjusts to just about anything.
Are you still happy with your gas forge? I haven't fired my coal forge up in a while but man I love that smell.
Gas is easy to light and quicker to get going no doubt but I've never used it.
I need a strong pair of inward pulling snap ring pliers. You can not buy a set strong enough with enough leverage to get a 2 inch snap ring out. To get any snap ring out without losing it you need to be able to put one hand over it and one hand on the pliers.
What type of metal would you recommend for snap ring pliers and how about hardening the tips?
Nice rack here to btw!
Still very happy with the forge. I've never made anything like snap ring pliers, but I would probably start with something like 4140 0r 5160
@@BlackBearForge Ok thanks I might give that a try.😉

If you can't find it you can't use it.
So true
Ah, so you are hopelessly right-handed, eh? Switch hands and a 3rd hand is not necessary.
