Thanks for the video, I've gor immobiliser problems on my 1.9td boxer, I've go two security bolts out but I didn't know about the others so I'm taking out the pump to do it on the bench your video was a lifeline thanks again. Dennis
Great video but where can a source a bosch ve pump? got a 106 1.5 diesel with bosch on it currently but the housing is cracked cant find any on ebay or scrap yards
Great info. Did your Lucas system have an ECU and did you need to do anything with it to keep other electrics in the car working. I have a 2001 206 and it has a control ECU on the lucas pump but I am unsure if swapping the pump over to bosch will stop stuff like the dash working if the ECU gets confused by not having half its bits connected.
Hey, do you have any information about the wiring of this engine? The timing of injection gets altered by under pressure. And I dont know how the system works from the electric side. I have such an engine sitting in a boat. It runs. But I want to set up the fuel pumpe the right way with the vacuum system.
Hello sorry I didn't see this comment straight away in regards to my engine though the only electrics on my fuel pump is an ignition positive for a fuel shut off solenoid. As for the injection timing that is done via the position of the pump on the locating pins and the position of the timing cam cog. I hope this helps
Hello. I'd like to do the same thing into my Punto 1.9D with Lucas EPIC pump. I want to use Bosch fuel pump, but the fuel outlet pattern is different between Lucas and Bosch, and Fiat didn't make Bosch version of 1910cc NA or Turbo. Do you think it's still possible to re use standard fuel injector lines?
Always wondered how Bosch and Lucas pump XUD9 Turbo diesel engines could deliver the exact same horsepower (92 PS), specially when we know that the Bosch pumps inject fuel at a higher pressure than the Lucas. Different turbo pressure between the two configurations maybe ? Or just different turbo? I know XUD9 engines equipped with Lucas pumps almost always came with a KKK turbo instead of the Garrett.
That's not anything I'm really sure of but I would think it's got something to do with the turbo type and the configuration of the setup on the pump because I do know there is ways of tweeking both pumps to get more power but I don't really know how to do that. However I am thinking about having a play about with it just not yet as i know I still have so much to learn and so many jobs to do before hand. Also being mine isn't a turbo model I haven't had any experience with the turbo model myself maybe in the future tho.
Mine is super squeaky gonna put a bosch on it. its a Xantia SD version, soft turbo, but this pump will have a boost compenastor. Should have done so when i first got the car.
Got a trouble with a xud9 on a Suzuki samurai. Basically the original Lucas pump seems to be faulty so I'm looking for a used one, the one I have has got only the blue connector whilst the ones I see on the market have also the black one that are in yours too, could you please tell me where does it go? Solenoid valve?
Hello my lucas doesn't have the blue plug and I'm not entirely sure what the blue plug does however the black plug has an ignition live and a ground with the other 2 wires having something to do with the immobiliser unit on the back of the pump. If your not worried about having the immobiliser working you could removed the armoured plating from the back of the pump then all you need to worry about is a ground (negative) and a ignition positive to the top of the solenoide and it will run just fine. I hope this helps
@@TheZXGuy Thanks, I had solved already, had a valve with just the positive wire (ground taken from the pump), put that one on and now is rocking. Thanks for your videos, they helped me a lot
Great video. I have a 2001 Peugeot Partner van (dw8b engine type and bosch pump) and can I have your advice, please. The cambelt has snapped and the engine has been destroyed and I planned an engine swap. The old bosch pump on the engine was leaking before the belt went so will use the pump on the engine from the breakers and all parts complete. I will try to source another engine with a bosch pump as well. What problems will I face when putting the new engine? will I have to replace the ECU, or remove the amour to get the stop solenoid to work as you did in the video for the van to start? Any tips much appreciated. Cheers. Chris.
Don't spose you've ever done a video on setting static timing with the Lucas CAV Rotodiesel Pump have you? (fairly sure mine's a touch out and if I could see a vid as well as ref Haynes that'd be dead handy)
I'm sorry to say no I haven't and I don't really know enough about setting the timing of the pump really to feel confident doing a video just yet. I do however know that you have some adjustments on the fixing studs to advance and retard the timing but Im guessing your probably aware of that already.
Feel your pain, been there.... Cheaper to convert to Lucas system instead of refurb’ing the Bosch Pump, try re-using Injector Copper Washers if you've got none; I did, only one wept. Nowt wrong with the Lucas, long as you don’t run any ‘economy’ fuels. Small error in vid: No. 1 pot is Gearbox end, they’re numbered Right to Left.
Trust me to get something wrong the only saving grace is even though I have got these orders wrong if someone follows my video and believes me to be correct with my numbers it will still match to allow correct fitment for the pipes due to me methodically matching things up prior to the video.
I can't say I've had much problems with the lucas pump but it's really more of a preference thing I think because some people highly rate the lucas pump. I'm not really fussed either way I just want a pump to work.
Hello mate, great vids, my 1st to subscribe to, I suspect I've fitted my lucas pump in the bosch position, it still runs but very rich, could this be the problem?, thanks, lee
Thanks for showing the details in a no-nonsense way and getting to the point. Successfully swapped the Bosch pump into my 205 using this video.
Glad it helped

Spot on. Just bought a 205 D-turbo with a Lucas pump.
You have lot talent with cars and your very clever surprised u havnt got your own garage repairing cars daily mate
Thank you for your nice comment fixing cars is a bit of a passion / hobbie but no official qualifications so never really thought about really.
Thank you, Informative and most importantly easy to watch and understand.
Glad it was helpful!
A very clear explanation.

Can you please send me a video of the way to put the fuel lines on the head of the engine ( Lucas pomp ) please bro I need it and thank you ❤️

What is the difference between bosh and lucas injectors?
We learn from repetition, problems and mistakes.
Yep and I'm still running the Lucas pump a year later no problems just a new rubber O ring to stop it leaking.
Glad you enjoyed the video though.

Good luck trying to find a dw8 with a Bosch and are you sure it’s a dw8b? Nearly sure only the original DW8 came with Bosch

@@TheZXGuy nowt wrong with making mistakes. Its good that there's people around learning how to do their own DIY repairs, far too rare now
got just over a year out of lucas, seal burst on the motorway. Not the best with petrol spraying over a hot engine. Bosch 3 years no issues
