Putty is a free and open-source terminal emulator, serial console, and network file transfer application which is commonly used to access and manage remote systems through SSH, telnet or serial connections. Although Putty is primarily used on the Windows Operating system, we can install and use it on other platforms such as Linux. In some special cases, you might need to install Putty even though you have other terminal emulators.
