im new and about to install in on a virtual machine i know my way around pcs inside out but only windows i am completely new to linux its like you give a toddler a pc any tips on how to learn fast??
I've been using only Linux since last December. I really enjoy tinkering with stuff, so of course I came across all of this stuff pretty quickly along the way. However, I don't think I've ever come across such a patient and yet concise presentation of it before. While speaking fairly slowly, and spelling out all the commands, you managed to lay out a very comprehensive guide to everything a person needs to get the hang of right away, without relying on memes or rambling analogies. FF/FF great content will send link to anyone I know who is new to Linux in the future
Your way of teaching Linux in the video is just amazing, the way you queued the commands are so easy to follow and it all makes sense. Thank you for making this video.
The voice used on this video reminds me of the narrator that used to do the Disney nature shows - older, calming, relaxed. HA. No need for excitement when reviewing/learning Linux. :-)

thank you. this was very well articulated and explained. i needed this as an absolute beginner so that i can get a feel for the terminal and basic commands before i go on a multi-day journey of writing notes and practicing on one of those 5+ hour videos lol.
Awesome. You covered most important commands of Linux in a very short time. It is most like a quick tutorial and it is very helpful for beginners to catch up..... Looking forward for many great videos..
I kept seeing Linux on job adverts thinking 'man I have to go learn linux now!' - looked at this video and discovered that I've been using this stuff all along, but being largely self-taught didn't realise what it was called 😀 coupled with the narrator's calm, clear gentle voice it's made me feel great!

7:34 to 7:45 note..this is the same end result as doing shift and delete, and then enter to confirming it .IF you left the stock file manager settings in tact. in GUI file manager
We know several people that do that. They feel Linux is much more safe against viruses and threats. Probably you won't use it to run games or specific software not supporting Linux.
It would have been helpful if the CC text wasn't directly over the command line as the examples were being typed. Besides that, it was nicely done, helpful.
I am new to Linux every time I decide to reinstall it . . . I try to see the simplicity of such a system, ... and I never get it .. I know it should be much better than Windows; since I am discouraged by win 10, I keep going towards Linux, ... and the learning curve doesn't even look impossible to ride ! I just really admire all of you guys for remembering any of the commands, and I always ask myself what are the situations where they are useful ! A hopeful geek set down to level -1
a very helpful linux command for beginners is apropos this command is used if you know what you want to do in linux but your not sure what command to use example: i want to copy a file but i forgot the command id type apropos copy and linux will search for every command that has keywords to do with copying then bam its found you the cp command and know you know oh ok so i need to type cp (sorry im bad at explaining things )
Why do none of the directories show up when I type "ls"? I only have files show up, so how do I add directories? For my current needs, I have to add "Downloads" because when I type "cd ~/Downloads/" it says "no such file or directory". Anyways, I would very much appreciate any help, thank you!
You don't need to do any of this. No home user should be using these outdated commands to do simple tasks like moving files around, in fact using commands for that is dangerous since it has the potential to overwrite existing files. It's 2023, we're not in the DOS era. Powershell commands and complex scripts are still used by system administrators overseeing large datacenters, but regular users have no use for these basic commands. Anyway, while I have nothing against this video, it is completely useless for regular users.
Hi, i had a test and could responde this question: 3. You are trying to create a file and receiving an error message saying that there is no free space left on the device. But when you check, there is more than enough free space. What can be the problem and how to confirm it? Can you hel me?

Im trying so hard to focus and understand but Is the point of Linux that there are purely commands to do things on a pc? Like send an email ? Without visuals??? Need a little help understanding
Nope, it also has visuals, but this depends on the distribution you have. For sure the commands are the right way to use and explore Linux, in any distribution.
Example: terminal commands can be useful if you use Linux for server purposes, where installing graphic interface is not essential. Other example if you use SSH for connecting, you have command line. So can be useful learning Linux shell commands for this and other situations.
