Well...i was expecting types of students but this vedio was amazzzzzzziiiiiiinnnnngggggg

Thank you! It's Nik Nocturnal - Labyrinth :)
Hey it would mean a lot if you would check out my instrumental
ua-cam.com/video/ZMyXlV_WhWw/v-deo.html
That a baritone gitter?
Modern Metal
6 string = ukulele
7 string = 6 string
8 string = 7 string
9 string = Is this even an instrument?
Hey. 9 is an 8 sting ok. 10 string is daddy.
Composerily soon the harp will be the new metal instrument!
Ukulele's can be pretty heavy.
Try an 18 string
@@NikNocturnal I challenge you.
Heaviest riffs with the capo on the 12th fret next!
It would be too heavy for my channel.
Put your guitar in Drop C -1 like After the Burial, then play GOJIRAAAAA !
@@NikNocturnal i bet someone has done it
No 80 string with elevator and bridge cables next
@@NikNocturnal Heavy Riffs in Drop L next
alligator blood is a banger and a half
^^^^
Seeing them in 2 months 😍
you ain't gonna hear alligator blood
@@duncanverdult3894 me too! but ya unfortunately, well be LUCKY if we hear chelsea smile again
@@bennydick3615 Nope :'(
At the beginning we have what appears to be start of Nik's career as unclean vocalist
Edit: Coming back to this now this feels very prophetic
BLEGH

@@NikNocturnal JEAVY JIFFS
Little did you know how true this would become
@@chalksmiles4036 It's hilarious as hell
i really do appreciate how consistently ben stiller uploads these videos
Sorry, been busy filming the next Night At The Museum
what? i thought this was james franco??
Oh Dark Days...one of the deepest outstanding PD songs ever
^^^
jesus that hell raiser of yours takes a beating. feel like its a different tuning every video
It does :)
As far as i can tell by informations from video descriptions, Nik uses mostly 12-56. To be honest i can't imagine that, because for the B standard i always use 12-65 and 56 is fine, but for Drop C# at most :D But those are the preferences. Look at Billy Gibbons, he uses 7-38 in standard E, while Zakk Wylde in the same tuning uses like 10-60, so just get what you like and play in it, try using capodaster for higher-tunings, or just get a Digitech Drop Pedal or something like that, which can change your whole tuning up to one octave below, while guitar being still in regular tuning ;)
@IDontKnowWhatToPutAsMyUsernam e I think he's endorsed by ernie ball so just throwing on a new set of strings for a certain tuning is probably no big deal.
Tuning doesn't really damage a guitar. I tune my guitar to several different tunings even daily. It doesnt hurt the guitar. It's pretty hard to "damage" a guitar and to liken tuning to that is stupid. Go outside and play an accoustic sometimes you metal puss boys
I use beefy slinkys and switch between a#, drop c, and c# daily with no problems
Even though I’m a big Breaking Benjamin fan, I didn’t expect Ben and his crew to be in this list hahahaha \m/
So Cold and Red Cold River come in mind.
@@mni219 Don't forget about Hopeless. That riff is crazy!
@@ricksterdrummer2170 Oh hell yeah!
Next video: Heaviest riffs: Drop Bb 🤔
Drop Bb#
Double Drop Q on a harp.
Pfft, normie... try drop flat.
Lol its the same thing
Bb is A#? or maybe you're joking? Can't be to sure on the internet nowadays. 😂
Now I know why I love Drop Bb so much. Like Drop B, but with a hint of tired sadness.
Also can be very dark and eerie, that semi tone from b is gnarly
@@sinisterminister9920 Having come from a formal music background, particularly middle and high school band, Bb Major was almost always the scale of the music we played, otherwise it'd be Eb Major. Once I found Bb Minor, it was like a whole new dark and fascinating world opened up.
Wish we could get an update on this series every few years! I always come back to these videos to jog my memory on what I can play in certain tunings!
I love when you put these videos out. They always put me on to some great new music. I never heard of Silent Planet until now, and now I'm hooked from just that riff alone. Great stuff!
Thank you! The point of these videos are to expose all of you to cool bands that you've maybe never heard of which is why I try to have a diverse playlist of them :)
Such a badass series here Nik. Every time I change tunings I look up these vids to learn some cool new riffs. \m/
Metal is truly a gift to the world. Thanks for the video!
Shadow of Intent is amazing
Facts
Awesome video as usual. Glad you included BB in there too! The new album Ember is pretty heavy for BB and I’m lovin it
Thanks! I LOVE their new album, their best by far.
I don't know what i want to see you play next, so many options! I love everything you do, even when you cover bands I don't know! :) Keep it up, i will support each and every video you make, Nik!
Thank you!
Yes! In flames! Aah man i was totally digging that then you cut it off just when it was gonna kick in, ha. Good stuff overall my man!
I was predicting Shadow Moses by BMTH and Wallflower by In Flames but wasn't disappointed because at least both bands made it on the list. 😂
So many of their riffs should belong here. Love both bands
Yeah, I wanted to keep it 1 riff per band :)
Hey Nik, love yur vids! Keep up the great work
Sick riffs
This was A SHARP video
Perfect
Eyyyyyyyyy
I love your content man...you always inspire me to pick up my 7 string.
Thanks Cameron, glad I could inspire :)
Hey Nik. Really enjoyed the video man, I love breaking benjamin so i really appreciated that, have a blessed day🤘🏼
Thanks Tyler! :)
Супер звук и супер рифы! Надо выучить их попробовать и спасибо за видео!👍
Nik ! :D You're amazing !!!
In Flames into Shadow of Intent makes for one hell of a death metal riff
love drop a# tuning
nice vid👌
Thank you!
You just yourself a new sub my dude. Superb job
That tuning.....I LOVE IT!!! 🤣 Next the heaviest riffs in drop C
Killswitch Engage, August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying, Counterparts, Phinehas, Stray From The Path, Every Time I Die, Converge, and Hatebreed.
Jason LovesABR yaaaaay!!!!
Ana Kostelac fucking job for a cowboy
That’s a big list
Jason LovesABR Add While She Sleeps and Beartooth
Bro!! The Catacombs was SPOT ON!! Great vid Nik!
Thanks! :)
Love that you threw in Breaking Benjamin at the end! Their 2018 release is the heaviest BB record and a notable metal release for the year! Great song choices Nik! Keep up the great content, also, can we see a collaboration with Andrew Baena in the future?
Thanks Jonathan! Yeah their new album was AMAZING. I love working with Andrew, we'll be sure to do more soon :)
So not metal
Jack Elliott It’s not rap either.. but why does that matter?
Rickster Music wth does rap have to do with it? Lol. It’s just not metal
Jack Elliott What is metal? Define for me what is not metal? If this is the game you wanna play I’d say anything that doesn’t sound like Black Sabbath is NOT metal.
Finally seeing some love for Shadow of Intent! Some of the best vocals i’ve ever heard in that band
kyledavid Love me some
Halocore
Its crazy good bro, you blew it out of the park
So heavy bro!
Thanks Jacob!
i been in love with brand of sacrifice i saw baena video , ur monday intro always get me lol
Thanks bro! :D
Nice work, keep it up!
Thank you!
I discovered your channel and music because of tuning by ear using tuner youtube videos.Definitely stayed for the content though !
Keep it up dude!! You rule!
Thanks Nick! :)
Nik deserves so many more subscribers. Putting out way higher quality videos than a lot of guitar youtubers out today
HEAVY RIFFS
HEAVVY RAFFFSSS
In Flames Take This Life - Damn that's an old school one! In Flames was so brutal back in the day, glad to see you bring back some old brutality :D
Thanks Ashton! :)
I saw Silent Planet in a small venue right before they really hit it big. They were supporting The Night God Slept when I saw them and they absolutely blew me away.
I'd love to see them live on day!
Whoo, awesome video! can we see Drop B next. My favourite tuning
Thank Joe, perhaps! :)
Wasn't expecting BB, but I'm not complaining by any means.
Nice to see some silentplanet love 🤘
Hell yeah.
SP
Just saw them live and Garrett is actually the best bloke ever
@@easyadventurer for suure, ive seen em twice and they kill it every time
If you like Silent Planet, you'll like Dayseeker too! Just saw them live and they were amazing 😁
This will forever be one of my favorite tunings! Although I'm upset u didn't include any FFAK all their early stuff was drop a# and some still are along with the f tuning
I didn't include FFAK because I had them in my Drop F video is all. Wanted some variety :)
@@NikNocturnal I feel ya. Great selections though I love Erra and feel they are a band that is over looked for their heavy riffs
I would be perfectly happy for you to extend each episode so more riffs get some spotlight... like part 2 etc
Maybe in the future :)
All the songs are awesome!!
Some Texas In July (Bloodwork album) would have been great too!
those were sick
So glad that you added Torn in two !!
Of course :D
Cool, I was searching and waiting so long for a catacombs cover, it's an awesome song.. Anyways please do more of this Canadian Band Shadow of intent like, the return or maybe the didacts will
You're saying "be sure" the way that I hear it like "Meshuggah"
Beshuggah
Thanks for Bring me me the horizon, i love them! And thanks for Take this life to!
Before i watch, i feel like stitch by wage war is here
edit: stitch wasn't there but i wasn't disappointed with the list
Isn't stitch in drop G or Drop G#? I feel like Drop NB/A# isn't low enough.
Blizzard The Wizard its in drop A# but they use a pedal to tune to drop F for the breakdown
Ah. Very cool. That makes sense. I love that song, man. Stitch is one of my favorites right now.
I wanted to include it but I included that song in a different "Heaviest Riffs" and wanted some variety :)
@@NikNocturnal ohhh okay
That "heavy riffs.....heavy riffs" intro is awesome !!!
Thank you!
dude...I mean...like, fucking wolverine blues man...headcrushingly heavy riffing on that song
Otherwise know as "heavy R.I.P.s" 🤣🤣🤣 Awesome video man 🤘😈
Thank you :)
Torn in two and that wage war BB with them tasty licks
^^^
Okay, now I need to see you play the solo from Hybrid Earth. That is possibly the sauciest and tastiest guitar solo I've ever heard that feels at home with the song and not just showing off. 👍🏼👍🏼
That whole song is insanely hard.
Nik Nocturnal it really is, though. Jesse Cash is an effing beast!
haha When i heard BMTH i threw a like because i knew the rest of the vid would be pure awesome!
Thank you!
Yesss, Take This Life is awesome. People don't realize how heavy that song actually is.
It's a legendary track.
Shadow of Intent, Erra, Wage War! Love you Nik!
:D
Digged the diversity of the heavy riffs! \m/
Thank you! :)
Take this life, good moments in GH III🙏🏻💜
^^^
Legend 🍷
:)
Heavy riffs memes, nice memez nik nocturnal
I’m using DDT 13-65 strings on a 24.75” epiphone les Paul tuned to drop a# it plays like a fucking champ
Longer videos pleeeeeeease!🙏
Will try next time for a longer one :)
Torn in Two riff is so rad!
^^^
Turn in two omg that's my favorite ever
Was waiting for that Erra shoutout knew it was coming lol
Thank you for including Silent Planet!!!!!! But I'm surprised there was no Fit For A King.
where is mr highway's thinking about the end
If it were me, i would replace Torn in Two with Red Cold River. Definitely heavier than Torn in Two
ERRA !!!! So good!
ERRA slays!
Pillars of Creation by Keith Merrow is the best Drop A# riff, mostly because of the Seymour Duncan metal demo video.
I give this video an A+ on something... maybe cause its Nik!
Thank you!
Brilliant video! Hey - I want to become a more technical player - learn scales? Anything else to learn? What resources should I use? School? Books? Videos? Apps? Thanks Nik!
Scales & Patterns are huge. I actually teach lessons so if you're interested in more info be sure to email me at Nikpopovic16@gmail.com
Heaviest riffs: Without strings
Because my music store is closed 😂😂😂
Or A harp
The Acacia Strain's 3750 Album is the best A#
In Flames, Erra, and Shadow of Intent are my favorite of the ones.
Love all those bands!
Nik Nocturnal Im a ProgMetal guy so Erra is there. Deathcore is also in my reservoir and the symphonic element is cool. And Clayman was the first album I ever bought on iTunes before I switched to Spotify
Nice hellraiser c-1 :)
First time i subscribe yout channel it's 13k subs and now? 50k
Well done Nik
Thank you my friend! It's been a crazy journey, that's for sure.
Alive by wage war goes so hard, definitely one to mosh to🤤👌🤘
Dude, yes!
Heard wage war and was like this will be the best riff on here then hybrid earth was next and we got another big thumbs up from Ol' Nic.
Pfft, A#, Not heavy enough, try E standard, normie.
Edit: YESSSSS SILENT PLANETTTTT
Edit #2: YESSSSS ERRAAAAAAA
Is silent planet as good as Erra? Haven't heard of em.
Dropp sigma next time.
I think Sylosis plays in E standard and still sound heavy as hell..
Try drop Q#
E standard? Mors Principium est - altered state of consciousness...
Yess. Shadow of Intent is amazing.
^^ Facts
Dude the new Benjamin sound is LIT!!!
Their whole new album was amazing.
@@NikNocturnal FR!!!! Dude I listen to it like everyday 😂😂😂
Maybe your favourite riffs in different tunings, such as drop c, drop b ect. ?
f#ck yeah, juicy riffs \m/
The Legend Have name :Nik
Dark Days, Erra, In Flames, and Silent Planet? GOOD SHIT!
:)
I knew it would include BB, but seeing ERRA? that's some dope list bro.
Oh btw how did you get your FR guitar into Drop A#? :'v
Thank you! I blocked my FR a few years ago.
Who needs a 7 string when you have a whammy drop tune pedal🤣
yeah lol
Hey Nik :) I want to play on A# do you think that the ddt 13-65 strings will be ok for this? Greetings from Poland, you are doing a good job :)
I use them for C standard, drop A#, and drop A, and they feel great in drop A#. Bottom strings are nice and meaty and top 3 great for bending. Hope this helps bro :)
Seeing BMTH on a heavy list catches me off guard xD I miss when they sounded like this
Hey man I have a question. I love your stuff, and everything you do sounds great. I only have a 6 string, and I love to play heavier/detuned stuff, but my current string sizes are a little to small. The tension feels too floppy even when I go down to just drop C. Going anywhere below drop B for me would be ridiculous. I thought this video would be perfect to ask on because you're playing drop A# on a 6 string.
So what string guages do you typically use for heavier stuff? Detuning and such? Thanks so much.
I use 0.12-0.56 for all my 6 string tuning. I set my intonation to be perfect at DROP B. This makes it so I can be pretty versatile with my tuning, however, when I go higher it is much harder to play. Hope that helped!
@@NikNocturnal Just letting you know that this answer is still useful to this day! Looking forward to getting some 0.12 strings!
Yes! ERRA and Silent Planet!!!
Im throwing in the suggestion of Exposed by A day to remember as ly favorite drop A# riff
Was super close to including that one as well actually :)
