A Feast for Crows

  • I've always been fascinated by crows and how smart they are, so I conducted a little experiment of sorts to see how long it would take them to figure out this peanut jar was something they would love. Didn't take long at all. I just like seeing them thinking and pondering what is going on. Other than humans, there are only three animals that make and use their own tools; Chimps, Elephants, and yes, Crows.

TriniCrew - It's thinking was this s--t is too good to be true... looks around... maybe a trap... Humans have that instinct but usually dismiss it. Just when you think, this person is too perfect, way too nice and sure enough turns out to be the opposite. Being cautious is a wise thing.

+TheDpoppop Because most likely this is the first time they saw a jar of these. If the person who put the jar keep repeating this attitude, so the crows will assimilate jar = food and lose their fear over time. We all fear the unknown...

if someone just left a whole bowl of your favorite food there on the floor in the middle of nowhere would you just pick it up?there is a chance it could be a trap, there is a chance it could be poisoned, and there is a chance there is nothing wrong with it alot of people don't eat food from other people because of the reasons i listed the crow needs to survive and get all the nutrients and calories it can get so it needs to see if this is worth the risk

    Crow/Raven testing of odd objects:
Test 1: Is it dangerous when provoked?
Test 2: Is it even alive?
Test 3: Is it tasty? If so, eat it. If not, go to test 4.
Test 4: Is it fun to play with?
    lol!

    Crows: "Best. Day. EVER!"
Nothing like peanuts for luring wild animals. I had a great deal of fun throwing peanuts, unshelled, one by one to a nearby squirrel one day. To an animal that has to scrounge for food every day or go hungry, and is having it suddenly literally thrown at them, is so much fun to watch their reactions.

Rock Star Nikki Honestly, sending food to Africa isn't going to help them. It actually just enables them to continue their cycle of overpopulation, low production, and no education. Only when they start to die by the thousands will they really realize that their way of life isn't gonna work anymore. It is sad but its true. We can't educate billions of people, and life is the best educator anyways.
