I'm homeless now because I sold my house and got a mig. The engine failed so I bailed out and now I live under the freeway overpass.
should've bought American.
Paul Allen (Microsoft co founder) had a mig29 next door to the company I work for. He had some Czech mechanics that would do the maintenance, lots of maintenance. Occasionally he would use my companies blast fence for high power engine runs with burners lit, needless to say all work would stop when he fired it up
Now let's see Paul Allen's card...........
You like Huey Lewis and the news?
when I clicked thinking a billionaire would own this jets easy even with maintenance. not surprised its paul allen 😅
Lets see Paul Allens 80s air superiority fighter
It ticks me off that I could have bought a fighter jet for what I owed in taxes this year…
Okay now I’m mad I had to pay that much too and don’t have a Jet 😂😂
Can relate, man.
for real! It would have made a great 179 deduction!!! hahahahaha

Bro, if you could buy a jet with what you owed in taxes, you make enough to buy one. Lol
My grandfather was an engineer on the F86 Saber. He took us to the airbase in Sacramento and gave my dad and I a tour of the assembly line. That's all it took to convence me that I was going to be a pilot. I was 6 and now I am 66 with a little under 7k hours logged.
66 and strong as a bull. Bless you and your family. Your grandfather was an amazing man
My grandfather, William Baum. Was involved in fixing, and designing a tail component for the f86 sabre , I have a picture of Dwight D. E. Shaking his hand, and awarding him a small statue of the f86 at a ceremony at the white house..cool.

The Mig 29 in Quincy, Illinois was fully restored and is qualified to fly in the United States along with the Su 27 though I believe it may have been sold to the US military, one was spotted in a mock dogfight with an F16 near Area 51 a few years ago. Also all fighter jets you buy will be demilitarized so no weapons and things like that.

I doubt you can call '86 Mig and '90 Su a "brand new". Air frame might not changed that much, but avionics and engines has changed a lot. Story as told to me: US and Brits doing war games in Australia back in the 70's. They had live radio chatter over the base PA. US pilot calls ground claiming a world altitude record. Ground asked if there was any way to confirm the altitude. RAF Wing Commander chimes in and says that he can confirm. Ground asked how and he replied "He was 2,000 feet below me!" Cheers!

Had an F4 fly over my base in Vietnam at about 500 ft. He looked like he was balancing the plane on it's engine. He was actually wallowing, nose up going very slowly. A10 warthog is not a fighter. It is a ground attack CAS platform. That's why it is an A 10, not an F10. The F/A 18 is a dual role aircraft and does both. The F16 is a fighter that has ben modified to give CAS to troops, but is notgeared toward fighter, which is where it excels.

BAE Hawk is a wicked aircraft, out of the list of jets available in this video it would also be my top pick for price range and quality of engineering that went into its production, otherwise if price was no issue then of course a mig 29 or su 27 would be crazy wild to buy into, but other than those couple exceptions BAE Hawk would be just perfect as a civilian owned jet, high quality engineering went into its design and performance, also made cameo appearance in one of those Pierce Brosnan bond films that came out after Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies i believe? Back in 1975, I was so lucky to see the Red Arrows fly the Folland Gnat as their planes. This event took place at a time the pilots were allowed to fly over the public at very low altitude, before the Ramstein airshow accident in 1988. The Red Arrows started their performance by having all nine planes arrive at the same spot from all directions at the same time, at slightly different, but very low altitude, barely a few feet above the ground, over the public.. They were flying so low that you couldn't see or even hear them coming. Breathtaking!!

The MiG 29 and SU 27 were definitely the most surprising. The F 4 and Harrier were quite surprising as well. I'm probably most interested in the Sabre simply because I don't need anything exceptionally epic. If I got to choose one free, it'd be the MiG 29 probably. Only problem is, I doubt I could handle the G's that any of these aircraft would present me with even when doing simple turns.
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video!
SU 27 seem to be from Ukraine which is the second poorest nation in Europe (now friendly with US), and this plane is the old export version but still surprised it made its way out of the country. I don't think Russians would sell it to private hands
A simple turn in a fighter is going to be about 2-3 G's which any human being should be able to handle just fine. You can also just bank it up to 30 degrees of turn and not pull and it will do a standard rate turn without pulling any G's.
@@BooYaa253 Russians have been doing that too for quite some time. It was especially huge during and shortly after perestroika, when you could get anything, from completely operational jets to ballistic missiles. All you needed was connections. Iirc a Japanese doomsday sect got a whole fleet of MI-24s from them lol
They're also known for selling decommissioned airplanes to poor countries, in fact there used to be a running joke in Warsaw Pact that once an airplane can't be safely flown anymore it's going to serve another 10 years in Poland, and once it can't fly anymore it's going to be sold to Cuba :v And some of these transport planes are still used by Cuban airlines >

You probably can’t go to a grocery store on a MiG jet, but an electric car is quite an efficiency way to go to relatively safe places. Used to have the red arrows display at my home town airshow every year. they used the gnat before the hawk. It was also the same airshow where a harrier pilot famously ejected just above the sea when hovering. I was there at the time and it was weird how every thing went quite just before he ejected.
I saw the red arrows in England during a track and field event we where lucky enough to have an air show literally across the street probably around 2010 2013 with the red arrows, Lancaster bomber, Vulcan bomber and a load of others

For the last month the F5's have been flying as intruders against the F15's at the training base at Kingsley Field. We have taken tons of pictures of the F5's at about 60 feet away
That is awesome!!! Is it possible to post one of your F-5 pics on this thread?
I read somewhere someone suggesting the the F5 should be built again probably Brazil with updated powerplant, and avionics as a competitor to the J-17. I found the idea interesting.
The Folland Gnat was adopted by India as a fighter and had a reputation as a "Sabre Slayer". It was further developed by HAL as the Ajeet. Finland also used examples. Yes, a fighter- and one of some distinction.
And the Red Arrows flew it before it was replaced by the Hawk- which gets the Red Arrow mention.

@@jonnyboing9177 Indeed you are correct, sir. I was a fuel systems tech. I was happily serving at RAF Upper Heyford when in January 1970 I was dragged, kicking and screaming to ZW (well, as much as a tech sergeant is allowed to kick and scream, that is). You would have loved the place in those days. When the Canadians left they locked every door inside and out and threw the keys into several 55-gallon drums. The first order of business for all new arrivals was to sort through piles of keys to find the ones to open the doors of the areas assigned as offices or shops. I believe most of the enlisted barracks and bachelor officers Q's were open and serviceable but family housing units (Three-story stairwell units, God you just had to love them) were not available for about 60 to 90 days. So you were there still flying missions there 10 years later? Thanks for the memories.
I did one backseat ride in an A-4 Skyhawk from NAS Key West, FL while my F/A-18 squadron was there to fly against an aggressor squadron using them. Fantastically fun aircraft to fly in - the only thing, it has a tiny cockpit if you are a big person. The pilot was the CO of the aggressor squadron and he put a hurting on me - some very high g maneuvering.
Beautiful
I can see the ad now: "Have 4th Gen Fighter, will travel, reasonable rates!"
There was a game in the early 90's where you bought fighter jets and flew as a "fighter for hire". "Strike Commander".
Very enjoyable, now kinda-sorta potentially a real-thing.
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video!
I'd love that SU-27, such a beautiful fighter!
for real!
That MiG-21 is just 😍
i love the F-86 not only is it really recognizable it also showed in 1 episode of the 80s Blue Thunder TV show.
I was an AMS for an A4 Squadron in Viet Nam. Surprising what the A4 Skyhawk would go through and still make it back to the ship. Great plane.
I have always loved the A4 Skyhawk! It's the hotrod of the skies! 😁
@Rowdy appreciate his service to what? Bombing 2 million people and poisoning future generations for no reason?
I loved the A-4M’s we had in the Marine Corps. I was an Aviation Ordnance Tech from 85 to 93.
@@robertburns3014 we called it ThunderChicken.
Last month I saw some A-4AR fly, what a nice plane man
I’m happy to know the dream of owning a fighter of some kind fighter isn’t completely out of reach
for real!
Video very entertaining
F4 Always my fav. I was stationed abord the USS America CVA66 1972 - 1975.
I built BAE / British Aerospace Hawk for almost 20 years. For a short time the whole production of the aircraft was at Brough in East Yorkshire - raw material would be driven through the front gate and we’d send a jet off down the runway. It was an amazing achievement for a small factory in Yorkshire . Sadly Bae pulled the plug on the manufacturing side of the plant and we all had to find other jobs.
very cool!
It’s a toss up between the F-4 and the Mig-29! I don’t think that I could ever learn to fly a Harrier!
29 all the way!
Shoehorn an F-104 Starfighter engine into the F-5 for a D.I.Y. Tigershark. That'll keep those Russophiles on their toes!
I'm more of a pragmatist. lol
Harrier pilots are a special bread as the actual system needs a certain skill to operate the jump jets, something to do with balance, getting the right balance in hover take off
@Biggus Dickus Phantom could pack a bigger radar, and carry more armaments, but the Tiger has better control response and tracks more smoothly, and would therefore be my choice for a civilian personal aircraft regardless of price. (Although I would go with the T-38 Talon trainer variant so I could bring a friend.)
One of my favorites
F4 phantom pilot here from Vietnam Era. Usmc Pensacola. top gun school
Here are my life goals: win the lotto, sell my house, move to America, buy a phantom and live happily ever after
HAHAHA, that's awesome!
Skip step 3 for a while. We workin some stuff out right now.
@@paladamashkin8981 The United States is still the best country to live in
Exactly my life goals too. 😅🤣
Are these legit to buy in the U.S. do you need pilot license. Can they be flown anywhere?
Seen thr Red Arrow's in the USA during there anniversary tour a couple of years ago. Beautiful aeroplane. One is one display at a airplane museum in Tuscon Arizona if your ever out that way.
very cool, have to check that out next time I'm over there.
I have personally seen 2 AV-8 (Harrier) accidents. One at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and one at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. Considering I was only on those air stations during my career because I was not an air winger, the Harrier was a widow maker. Especially the AV-8A. The Marine Corps was the only service in the USA to use it.
Man that su27 is a beauty.
The A-4 is not a fighter. I flew the F-4 and $2,900,000 might buy this one but you would go broke keeping it in the air. Even on active duty, they were beasts to keep flying and the support equipment is staggering. The J-79 engine while being one of the best was a maintenance nightmare. Every stator blade on it was moveable with the throttle so you can just imagine the linkage that went with it. It also meant no turbo lag or windup like most jets at the time. Instant thrust! A little-known fact but the F-4 could carry more ordinance than a B-17 bomber.
How cool is that! Thanks for sharing!
Flying brick that's funny but accurate no power that is exactly what you would be flying the f4s were hard hitting on landing the were definitely tanks but they could carry a big ordnance load watching them unload on a target was very cool especially napalm, every place I was stationed had f4s untill 1977 then fb111s took over.another cool plane.
The Russians build their jets so they can take off and land in farmers' fields. They are quite sturdy.
That's thinking ahead!
That’s why they have BIG wheels on their landing gears.
Also fairly maint. free. When a Russian defected to Japan, US Gov. took the Mig to Area 51 thinking they may get a few flights out of it before having to service it and without parts it would be useless. They ended up flying it for years without needing service (parts obviously). Interesting story. This is where they found out how robust and durable the Russian equipment was. Very different mindset in Russia. These planes are stationed way out in the middle of nowhere with few support personell and sit for months on end with little flight time. Nato fleet is way better serviced, but that equipment also needs it more. Our systems are way more fine tuned, but less robust IMO.
@@trevoC132 that was the defector in the MiG 25 Foxbat wasn't it?
@@jefffranklin4894 Thats right. Cool story.
My Uncle was in the RAF so I've been on base when they are training and for a few airshows. Some years ago now though
the best UA-cam video ever made.
My friend Doug has an L29 Delfin, been ballistic and upside down in it...It was a childhood dream to be a fighter pilot and he put me there..Thanks Doug..
very cool!
The MiG 29 just does it for me.
Imagine if I were to gain the UPG version without weapons but everything else on it.
for real!
Seen the Red Arrows at Farnborough AirShow in the 1970`s when I was 10 years old.
A-4 nice jet. Mig-29 beautiful jet.
