I love your second point, that home education is actually the default. So true! I don't use social media, but begrudgingly made a Facebook for the home ed groups when we began as it is really helpful to have one haha. I will also mention that the National Trust have home ed memberships at a discounted cost. You can only use it during school hours, but that's when we would tend to go anyway.
Ohh great tip about NT memberships. I’ll pin this so others can see. Yep, definitely wouldn’t go outside school hours 😄 It’s annoying how useful FB is for home Ed stuff isn’t it 🤣
Love this! Fantastic info, especially number 5. Thank you for the shout out, what a lovely surprise! 😘 Ps. 👋Guilty of using home education/homeschooling interchangeably on my channel- but mainly to reach those who still don’t know the difference- not sure that helps the problem though 😬🤨😂
Ahh thank you! Yes, I use it to for that same reason. Obviously in the States it’s almost universally called Home school, and even here a lot of prospective home educators don’t know the term, so I do think we sort of have to for reach, but it’s a dilemma for sure! 😄
This was very interesting to me. I am an American homeschooling mama and I’ve noticed there are similarities. What I love about UK is the use of “home education” rather than “homeschooling”.
oh yes, that term is super important over here and some home educators are fiercely protective of it 😂, others aren't bothered and think people are too pedantic about it. But I do think it changes the perception people have that we are just doing school at home
I had an early help worker tell me today that the work that my child does on weekends and school holidays doesn't count and the council won't consider that as work.🤔
Wtf, I've never heard that before. That's bonkers. As if work done in the weekend and school hols doesn't count 😅😅 sorry I have to laugh. What planet are these people on

Lady Evelyn independence online home schooling is a success!
Oh I haven’t heard of that before. Thanks for sharing. Is it an online study programme or something?
Have you tried it?
