I have another explanation with respect to Spiritual employee and non spiritual manager situation. After 60 and retirement, some people go crazy because they don't know what to do with the time and have no hobbies or friends. On the other hand, the spiritual employee will be happy to continue with his Sadhana and may reach even higher goals. Maybe the manager will get the understanding that he needs to start leading his life with devotion and helping others. He has to learn a lot at that point.
