A lot of people are saying that the style of this cover totally lacks the edge and angst of the original, which is totally true, but I think the gentleness of it is dark and powerful in its own way. Hearing these words slowly and melodically spoken by a nice and polished voice makes you wonder...what kind of darkness is really underneath the soft exterior?
@@doggieshitdigger That's fair. I was mostly playing devils advocate haha you simply can't beat the original. Love that shit. What a set of pipes on that guy!
I'm a campfire entertainer and this always gets the best react from people, I can't do it nearly as well as these guys but I do try, this version is so rediculous amazing that I just had to learn it
This is a phenomenal cover. It is true to Anberlin and the way that they would play it.....they took a great song and put an entirely new spin and feel to it. That is the way covers are supposed to be, friends.
I think this cover is amazing. Some people can't respect musicians who deviate from spot on covers and give them their own style. The original was perfect the way it was, so they made it their own. A+
This is a great cover :) what the people don't understand about a "cover" is it's Anberlin's take on the song its not supposed to sound EXACTLY like the original its just same lyrics but with a different feel to it, if that makes sense. If you wanna hear the original then search it and stop hating on Anberlin :D
It's not worse than the original, it's just a different style of music. It's good in the style it's played in. If you are throwing it with a rock genre then it's not going to compare because it's not rock. It's like putting the winner of american idol in a hot dog eating championship.
It's all about interpretation and impact. Danzig and Anberlin took two entirely different paths with this song and they both work. There is no fucking right or wrong with that. Of course there are covers that are absolutely horrible but what the fuck, this one isn't.
@KingTaargusVII How can you say it sucks? He's not trying to make this verson better he is just singing it accoustic. The band obviously has an emotional attachment to the song, that's why they chose to sing this song.
Holy s%$#! I just finished researching some DJ from Vienna, Austria named Julius Abel for a lackluster electronic "remix" version of Mother, which I found here on YT in a few places. The vocal interpretation was the part that was hard to take. Then I find this cover, and lo and behold, it is THIS actual recording that JA took and remixed into some Sedonan Dubstep monstrosity. Sweet Weeping Jesus! I thought some freakin' Austrian was responsible for that Frankenstein! I owe Julius an apology. (I'll repost my comments to him right here.)
It's not the original but he did sing very well and the guitar was on point. It'd be a bad performance if he was off tone or voice kept cracking. Not my taste but still a good performance.
You see some people get stagnated in their past and live in nostalgia and miss out on all the new and progressive stuff all around them. It's sad to not be open to different and new.
@JarrodCanHasSinging cause he's already louder than the guitars. if he used head voice he would have just gotten even louder. and this cover is trying to be chilled and calm.
Thought that I had an original thought and had to double check UA-cam to see if it's been done... And of course it has 😂 awesome cover tho exactly as I envisioned it
Actually this is a good one, but not my taste...but I do admit it's a nice cover for some people that aren't in...heavy metal or any other metal...because Danzig is about messages for people around the world...and this is one of the ways how to spread it...
How can anyone who runs across this song say to themselves Hey I would really like to cover this song and put my own style to it and FUCK it up this much?
They're completely lost. It's against the nature of the song. You can make an acoustic cover, but you CAN NOT turn it into a "baby bed time" song. Show some respect please.
Eld Ritch I'm gonna be honest, I worded it wrong, I like this version better because of the acoustic guitars, I love acoustic music too much to enjoy the original, I also prefer Stephen's voice over Danzigs.
I don't understand why they covered this song. I don't think they fucked it up or anything, it just seems weird that they would cover a song like this. Kudos for trying something new, but I don't like this song to begin with.
And yet that wasn't my point... My POINT was that a cover CAN sound different because an artist is bringing their own individual, unique sound to the table and taking it in a different direction. If a cover sounded identical to the original, that would just be a ripoff... No artistry in that. See what I'm saying here?
Girly? GIRLY?! HA!! No. It's called sensitive creativity. Get over yourself. -.- That's why it's a COVER..... It's SUPPOSED to sound different. I don't understand people. Were we in the back of the line when God handed out brains?!
I love acoustic as well but come on. The feeling danzig puts into the song is amazing. This is not even close to being a good cover of the song. Now im not putting these guys down as musicians. They might even be good at what they do. In this case i think they bit off more than they could chew. These guys would be better off covering Taylor swift or Justin b. Btw the only one who ever did as good if not better at singing danzig songs was Michale Graves...i agree Eld Ritch lol
fantastic and original way to cover a song.....this is how a cover should be done....if your going to do it the same as the original then why do it at all? you honor the original by doing it your own way. otherwise its just a ripoff.
This is a pointless and forgettable cover. What made the original great, the powerful vocals from Danzig and the raw energy is completely gone here. They add nothing original. Just made it into a pointless generic lullaby, sounding like most of the other tame boring stuff floating around today.
I get all you sensitive people are trying to stick of for this no talent band but what they did here is a travesty. let us not forget "Uploaded on Oct 11, 2010" the day music was almost ruined.
He has one of the most beautiful and unique male vocals I’ve ever heard.
"Danzig in the Style of Muse"
A lot of people are saying that the style of this cover totally lacks the edge and angst of the original, which is totally true, but I think the gentleness of it is dark and powerful in its own way.
Hearing these words slowly and melodically spoken by a nice and polished voice makes you wonder...what kind of darkness is really underneath the soft exterior?
its not that its soft, its not just soft - it is low energy and soulless
@@doggieshitdigger That's fair. I was mostly playing devils advocate haha you simply can't beat the original. Love that shit. What a set of pipes on that guy!
I actually love this version. It sends chills down by spine. The acoustic guitars add a haunting quality to it.
+Bridget Hill Finally.. at least someone appreciates this beautiful cover.
Sounds great. I listened to it a couple times. Dark lyrics sung clearly sound awesome.

Thank you and yes
And some people can respect that, unless the cover is a complete trainwreck.
Props to them for doing an acoustic rendition of this classic song.
Good voice. He knows how he can use his voice.
Hes a legend almost retired
Amazing. Love this rendition.
This is a great cover :) what the people don't understand about a "cover" is it's Anberlin's take on the song its not supposed to sound EXACTLY like the original its just same lyrics but with a different feel to it, if that makes sense. If you wanna hear the original then search it and stop hating on Anberlin :D
Interesting cover. Not bad. Nice to listen to on a mellow rainy day
Emanon, shut it. This is just a cover. You want the original, search that instead of a cover. And FYI this better than most music out there today.
It's not worse than the original, it's just a different style of music. It's good in the style it's played in. If you are throwing it with a rock genre then it's not going to compare because it's not rock. It's like putting the winner of american idol in a hot dog eating championship.
+Josh Godwin I believe most people will stop reading from "not worse than the original".
Very cool. I hope danzig has heard this if he has he should put a comment up here and thank you guys for doing such a cool job
Fantastic!
These guys did a very good job on a song that is hard to do acoustically.
this is amazing oh my god
It's all about interpretation and impact. Danzig and Anberlin took two entirely different paths with this song and they both work. There is no fucking right or wrong with that. Of course there are covers that are absolutely horrible but what the fuck, this one isn't.
You are incorrect. This is not an opinion you are entitled to.
kierock2 And who are you? ........... Oh? Okay.
+kierock2 says the UA-cam troll.
+kierock2 Your mother must have been a terrible parent to have raised a dipshit like you.
t. homosexual
Loved it. So different from the original but still so beautiful
a good cover takes a song from another genre or artist and makes it their own i feel that they did a great job on this cover
Just amazing band!
@KingTaargusVII How can you say it sucks? He's not trying to make this verson better he is just singing it accoustic. The band obviously has an emotional attachment to the song, that's why they chose to sing this song.
one of my fav back in high school
Why the fuck didn't he use his higher register? I was waiting the whole song for him to bust out those epic notes, but he didn't. I is disappoint.
FIRST!!!
AND OMFG I LOVE ANBERLIN!!!!
win win win win!!!
bravo! bravo!
This is awsome !
Nothing is perfect. What may ruin it for you may in fact make it better for someone else.
Legend
perfect.
Heck I liked it yes it may sound different but always good to find something new I liked it
You got it!!!
Holy s%$#!

ANYTHING IN URANUS STUDIO SHOULD PROBABLY BE KEPT IN URANUS.
It's not the original but he did sing very well and the guitar was on point. It'd be a bad performance if he was off tone or voice kept cracking. Not my taste but still a good performance.
TED MOSBY? is that you?
Looks like him😂
You see some people get stagnated in their past and live in nostalgia and miss out on all the new and progressive stuff all around them. It's sad to not be open to different and new.
Good voice! Good looking men ❤️
@everyone who says he sounds girly... listen to kellen quinn's singing voice, then you may have a different view on anberlin
This sounds liturgical to me
A most interesting cover
@JarrodCanHasSinging cause he's already louder than the guitars. if he used head voice he would have just gotten even louder. and this cover is trying to be chilled and calm.
Thought that I had an original thought and had to double check UA-cam to see if it's been done... And of course it has 😂 awesome cover tho exactly as I envisioned it
were can i get his shirt!
Actually this is a good one, but not my taste...but I do admit it's a nice cover for some people that aren't in...heavy metal or any other metal...because Danzig is about messages for people around the world...and this is one of the ways how to spread it...
@jesusfresus because this is one of if not the best Danzig songs ever!
I could definitely see Death Cab For Cutie doing this song now.
@asmithgdci Haha, it's a cover, not a tribute.
How can anyone who runs across this song say to themselves Hey I would really like to cover this song and put my own style to it and FUCK it up this much?
Too well !
Ted Mosby is in Anberlin?
If anyone has the tabs please come in clutch
They're completely lost. It's against the nature of the song. You can make an acoustic cover, but you CAN NOT turn it into a "baby bed time" song. Show some respect please.
I actually think this cover has more power in it than the original, but I think that overall, the songs are equal in objective quality.
Keren abiss!
AWESOME COVER TO AN AWESOME SONG!!!
nice epiphone masterbilt!
Wow he looks way different without the long hair, beautiful cover btw, the original isn't bad either
I have mixed feelings on this performance. It has the makings of a phenomenal interpretation but needs a good amount of work.
The singer and guitarist are wearing the same shirt
Why? Did you need to Google it yourself to understand? It's a cover, bro... A cover.......
cosmo Kramer on guitar
No racism here, but this man looks like an Asian version of The Governor from the Walking Dead.
How is that in any way racist?
stereotype much hum?
myself and the majority of metal heads I know are pretty eclectic
@video
nice cover
This wasn't that bad.. not bad at all to be honest.
Anberlin has done the impossible, they have made Danzig's mother better than the original.
you should be ashamed of your comment
Eld Ritch I'm gonna be honest, I worded it wrong, I like this version better because of the acoustic guitars, I love acoustic music too much to enjoy the original, I also prefer Stephen's voice over Danzigs.
Go drink some cocoa and lie down for a bit.
Danzig!
Oh shit bro, are you mad, because you used all caps, I got a little bit scared.
sorry, singing doesn´t fit at all to this song.
it´s not a love song or sth ....
needs more growl
Plus the key change to f kills the song
I don't understand why they covered this song. I don't think they fucked it up or anything, it just seems weird that they would cover a song like this. Kudos for trying something new, but I don't like this song to begin with.

I feel like the lyrics of the song go well with angry and taunting singing in original but with this soft singing the song just looses its impact.
Wake me up when its over
😴💤💤
Girly? GIRLY?! HA!! No. It's called sensitive creativity. Get over yourself. -.- That's why it's a COVER..... It's SUPPOSED to sound different. I don't understand people. Were we in the back of the line when God handed out brains?!

Good cover but you completely robbed it of it's Danzigyness
You can tell he ain’t lived any of this song ...
How would you know? Read about how Danzig came up with songs and you’ll find he didn’t exactly either 🤷🏻♂️
Discount Danzig
vocals are fine dude, but wth, it's a song about fkng Satan seducing the younger generation, not about your candid feelings ffs
This song is not supposed to be gay
Caio Caldas Ribeiro Sean Hayes could be singing this song while blowing Ace and Gary and it still would be gay.
On behhh behhz🍼...on all future offspring my neej!!😂🎉☠️⚰️🪦
Not bad at all but Danzig is always best :)
This is a pointless and forgettable cover. What made the original great, the powerful vocals from Danzig and the raw energy is completely gone here. They add nothing original. Just made it into a pointless generic lullaby, sounding like most of the other tame boring stuff floating around today.
why were you soo mad about a cover of a song lmao
@MrZacdeath no, he really has a point. This is bad, and they should feel bad.
i really like anberlin as a band, but if this were the 1st song i heard them play I'd never have given them a chance.
good band, not a good cover...
I get all you sensitive people are trying to stick of for this no talent band but what they did here is a travesty.
let us not forget "Uploaded on Oct 11, 2010" the day music was almost ruined.
Don't try another Danzig cover, seriously, not good
Great vocal, but odd juxtapose.
Zzzzzzz…..
Fr 😴💤
Holy shit! They took away all that was great and put this shiity gay spin on it so the little hipsters will have something to relate to..
:(
Me deixou Titi
Fuck me... What a horrible version....
ahahahahahaha so fuckin weak....ahahahahahaahh
What do you mean the original is alright? It's infinitely better than this s***
Too much estrogen.
This SUCKS!!!
Lame!!
Just because they put "cover" in the title doesn't give them the right to ruin a perfect song.
hipsters kill my will to live
