Appreciate sharing your insights and tour of your 60 series. Coming from 40 series (fj40 and bj42), I am gathering more info as I will be starting to restore my 1989 HJ61 VX trim.
I'm from Sabah Malaysia...I got my own landcruiser Toyota fj60.its a great car.i like it very much.. thanks for your explanation on the sit at the back...
Family owned one for 35 years. On the dash the AM/FM radio went into the hole on the top and on the bottom hole right besides the AC there was a cassette tape deck.
Very interesting!! I'm currently rebuilding a 1983 Toyota HJ60 G model in Kenya in order to do an overland trip to Namibia in the next six months. Let's meet up in some remote corner and share stories! Chris
Wonderful Jonas and Happy New Year! What a neat surprise for your next adventure. Your setting and choice of “new” vehicle are exemplary! I completely get why you are taking on the Toyota - variety is the spice of life! Looking forward to the next video. BTW, we live in the USA now but, my wife grew up in Southwest Africa (now Namibia) and we look forward to visiting her childhood country soon. Enjoy!!
Happy new year to you too Jeffrey! I'm planning to take the cruiser to Namibia next year. It's kind of a long drive from where I am in Mpumalanga but driving in the dunes must be awesome! How knows, maybe we'll cross paths!
@@jonasfreitag Hey Jonas. Am curious. We often travel to the EU with a central stepping off point of DE. We would most likely go to Namibia from DE. When we go to Namibia, what is your preferred airline and what is the approximate cost? We also thought of taking a nice slow scenic train from Cape Town into Namibia.
@@jeffreygriffith6399 So, at the moment I only book with Lufthansa as they have a no questions asked quick money back Corona cancellation policy. I’m not sure what they’re connections to Windhuk are however. I usually fly FRA-JNB. What I could picture being really cool is renting a truck camper in JNB and then driving up into Namibia through the Kalahari, maybe coming back through Botswana. I rented a LC79 with a decent canopy and roof top tent 2 years ago and drove it around South Africa. That was an awesome adventure and I wish I had had more time then to go up to Namibia. The rental company was called “Bushlore”.
@@jonasfreitag cool. Good info! We use Lufthansa to travel to EU (Miles & More). And FRA is easy to access from the Sauerland where we stay. My wife lived in Tsumeb and has neat stories and photos from her time there. Yes an overland expedition would be fabulous. Safe travels!
@@jonasfreitag At the time of "Texas barbecue", I often thought if You would know about the South African "Braai" culture.( Braai is our term for Barbecue.)
Thanks Adrian! I’m planning to be here until the end of February but to hopefully be back later in the year. The big plans I was talking about unfortunately are based in Europe.
@@mizeadventure9438 that sounds amazing! I was thinking, maybe you can answer some questions I have about the various problems of my 60. I know that WhatsApp is not big in the US. Do you iMessage or whats the best way to reach you?
Dont have a 4x4 yet. If your looking for spares try n1 4x4,they are cruiser specialists. And if you go there you are right by Ludwig roses- a rose farm with a nice restaurant.
I get what you’re saying and appreciate the comment. I thought about this for a long time. In the end I decided that it was much safer here in Mpumalanga which has less than 1% of SA COVID cases. I don’t claim that what I’m doing is responsible though.

The one and only FJ Land Cruiser - I have a 1988. FJ62 Land Cruiser - still going strong - just over 300000 kms. I am from Cape Town, South Africa.
The best that Toyota engineers have created
I came here for the G wagon, ended up with a Landcruiser.
Im really interested to see what happens next.
Thanks for following along!

Its the coolest one.
Looking forward to seeing how you repair the rust and leaf springs. Please indicate sheet metal type, thickness, seam sealers used, etc.
Oh, its going to be a while before I get to all this properly. For the moment, temporary fixes will have to do. Thanks for following along Carlos!
