I turn a piece of wood into a homemade bow that is arguably better than one you can buy! In this video, I share the making of this bow! I am making this bow for garret from road 4 tv. And it will be the best bow I have made yet! You can make a bow at home with great success if you are will to take the time and put the work in! Bow making is so fun and I would encourage anybody to try it!

I always made bows Growing Up made one nice Longbow to hunt with and quit. Life got in the way but after seeing your videos I'm back to it learning more. Now I just need to find a better source for Hardwoods and I think I can start making Asiatic style bows as well as traditional and modern style longbows and recurve. Right now I'm stuck to Hardwoods I find at Lowe's and you know how porous and dry that can be LOL I can make a longbow but I can't shorten them up much it seems the wood won't take much stress even with fiberglass tape back. If you see this comment any advice would be appreciated thanks!

KA, what about a knock down bow using Baltic birch or apple plywood? Super thin veneers they can be. Or Luan marine plywood laminated into recurve?

I have broken 3 red oak board bows. All have broken the lower limb on all. I have not seen any reference to the desired bow poundage to the poundage at brace height, when 6" to " 12" of limb flexing. So how are you suppose to know when to stop taking wood off the limbs? I want a 55-60 lbs draw weight at 27". Will I be able to get that with red oak?

Can you make legolas bow please????????????

The bow looks nice making a bow shorter could make it faster since it uses more of the limb and has less limb mass. But it could also make it have more set which in turn would make it slower also more finger pinch and stack. But since the material you are using is Osage you shouldn't have a problem with this. If you really want a fast bow make a bow that is from Ipe with a backing of bamboo.

@@kramerammonsarchery go online search up Ipe decking. Try to find the darker stuff it's a more denser also when you glue it together with the bamboo backing you can use either smooth on or Titebond III. Ipe is very dense try making either a English longbow or an pyramid bow, make the tips as thin. I guarantee you would have a very fast bow. Could you try making a two piece take down? Specifically with a fiberglass sleeve I am making an English longbow that is a two piece take down with a fiberglass sleeve but the information I found on how to make the sleeve, I'd like it to be a little less vague and more specific and detailed.

@@kramerammonsarchery your welcome also since Ipe is a very dense wood it's important to make it narrow not wide. If the thickness is too thin the bamboo will overpower the Ipe and cause crystals. Make sure that the Ipe is always thicker in ratio as compared to the bamboo.

You might as well just use a tree branch man, at this point it doesn't seem like you're trying to laminate anyting
