Hi Jeffrey, You are very good technician and your explanation is fine. I try to remake an electric fan motor and your video helps me very much. 24 slots with 12 coils: 1-6(90 turns)+2-5(45 turns) 1 coil, 7-12+8-11(same 2 coil), 13-18+14-17 (3 coil), 19-24+20-23 (4 coil) external Running coils. Connect slots 5 with 11, 7 with 13, 17 with 23 and 1 slot starting tip of coil and 19 slot the other end tip of coil. Internal Starting coils: 4-9(90 turns)+2-5(more 45 turns) 1 coil, 10-15+8-11(same 2 coil), 16-21+14-17 (3 coil), 22-3+20-23 (4 coil). Connect slots 9 with 15, 10 with 16, 21 with 3 and 4 slot starting tip of coil and 22 slot the other end tip of coil I have 3 cables from switch selector: 1st speed=blue, 2nd=white and 3rd=red cable. I will try with your very good diagram to join and connect all of them and measure resistance and maybe I need your help to energize the motor. Thanks a lot Christ
But I would like to highlight that my diagram are only applicable for single phase fan motors with 16 slot. I dont think it would also be applicable with 24 slots, I mean I did'nt experiment that scale as of now.So I can't assure you that I can help you in that area. for now.
@@jeffreyeslopor Thank you for the kind words, do you have information on 6 pole 2 speed 1/ HP westinghouse motor ? These are common for more vintage box fans .
@@stevethefanman8955 I apologize for now, but I don't have any experience yet on Rewinding motor with 1 HP. But I am interested to rewind motors like that if I have given the chance. You're welcome :)
Hi Jeff, i might be jumping the gun, it might be in your video...i want to know how to identify the stator wires on an already wound stator which has had the copper traces break from the colored leads.
A multi-tester can be use. Commonly, we have 5 lead wires that goes out from the stator. Two of which goes to capacitor (can be alternately placed) while 3 leads for speed control. Now if you want to know which is no.1,2, or 3, first find the end tip of the entire stator which is either one of the two wires from the capacitor. You can achieve this by attaching one probe from the tester to the first capacitor wire of your choice then put the second probe to either one of the three lead wire from speed control. Then record the result by writing it down. Same method should be applied to the second wire from capacitor. The higher the resistance the lower the speed or rpm.
Thanks, I will try, I found a nice fan which wasnt working and it turned out to be a melted wire shorted out and some of tge stator wires broken and i broke more removing melted insulating plastic... you are very detailed and patient, you should take on bigger projects with such skills. There are companies with employees who arent half as skilled as yourself. Awesome video/tutorial, many do not understand what kind of patience it takes to do that...and manually winding thousands of coils, wow man, that blows my mind.
Question: How bad was the condition of the original coils, and weren't they still usable; or is it that the video is a solely for demonstration purposes and the original coils are fine?
I am an Electrical Engineering student and Motor rewinding was part of our laboratory activity in school , it just happen that I documented my work. I don't have much experience that time, that is why I lack a lot on this vid.
Sorry these previous two replies of mine are for the 'motor rewinding-complete tutorial' video, not here. I was replying using YT Studio on my phone earlier and there is no indication if what video I am replying to haha so I assume it was the follow up question about ur first comment. Just a clarification.

Original coils are actually in good condition but we have to perform some laboratory task so, I rewinded it for the sake of our grade.
