Thank you so much for the informative tutorial. You saved my friend and I’s evening of We Ski after discovering one of the remotes unresponsive. We derived an immense sense of accomplishment from our repair. Thank you again.
I love it! I'm glad the video helped :) Cheers!
Thank you!! Worked like you said. My corrosion was on the top connect. I did open and check the bottom just in case so I don’t have to open this up again for the years to come. I got my wii from someone else. So I know for sure I’m not storing this Wii in any humid conditions. Thanks again!!!
Glad it worked!! 😀
You really want to follow up the vinegar with isopropyl alcohol, so you're not leaving the acid from the vinegar on the electronic components.
Thanks for the tip!
I doped my entire motherboard of the wii controller in pure alcohol rub it with toot brush and some worker fine after
@@vincentyoo6297 I haven’t had any issues with using vinegar but if it works it works!
Mine was working but I had taken it apart bc the corrosion and button sticking but after cleaning it it won’t respond to batteries anymore I’m not sure what I did wrong
No meu caso essa peça laranja está rachada tem como substituir ela?
Thanks! This fixed all of our controllers except the one I threw away before watching this video.
Awesome! Good job 👏
I have a remote that blinks but won’t connect to my console no matter what. I’ve taken it apart, tried resyncing and still the same problem.
You need to Connect the Wii remote to the Wii
Super IT worked Ty so much
Nice work!
Um so i tried this and broke one of the batttery connectors off is there any way to re soulder them?
You can try!
Thanks for the tutorial. I didn't find any corrosion on the contacts, but it still doesn't work. Do you know anything about that?
If it’s not batteries or corrosion, I’m guessing there’s an issue with the circuit board. It could be the wires or connections from the wires but if those are good then the circuit board may be faulty.
Hello Thanks for the tutorial, but unfortunately nothing worked for me, strange because no button reacts to switching on except sync (after pairing the buttons, the sensor works). Unfortunately, I have to pair every time, so I have 2 questions:
1. Have you had or heard of such a case?
2. Do you know where to get a set of battery springs for the remote, as you know, the most common problem with the wii remote is leaking batteries, corrosion, etc. and I can't find the parts anywhere unless I type something wrong hmmm
I am not familiar. Assuming you’re syncing the remote correctly, it could be going out or something wrong with the hardware. Are you using a genuine remote from Nintendo? For the part, try searching Wii remote parts or battery springs in eBay. Lots of good stuff on there.
@@learnsavediy I understand that it synchronizes correctly, but after turning it off (power) and turning it back on (only with the sync button on the wiilot I have to synchronize again.
Of course only Original, the best ;)
The problem is that the upper ones are there but the lower springs are nowhere :\
I tried clean the top battery contact, but hard to clean on board battery contact. still not working.
If cleaning and a new set of batteries didn’t work, I’m guessing the board could be bad.
I have serveral wii motes that dont have any corrotion but still wont turn on, do you know what can be the problem?
How do the boards look? New batteries?
@@learnsavediy doesnt seem like new batteries, but i think the internal battery is dead
I have that same set of drivers. However, mine are green and black. Guess they changed to red from 2 years ago.
They still sell both green and red sets.
Thank you
You’re very welcome!
I'm trying to open up my remote, but no matter how hard I try to get through the seam it just won't budge. I've used quitar piks, thin screwdrivers, and a staple remover and nothing is working. Any tips for just getting it open?
Hi! I would recommend using something plastic so you don't mar up the plastic. After you completely remove all 4 screws, pry near the bottom of the remote (near where the nunchuck connects). That end typically is more loose. You could use a rubber mallet to lightly tap around the remote to potentially loosen up the remote, but I wouldn't go to crazy. It should come right apart.
@@learnsavediy ended up getting it open after a while. It snapped off a microscopic plastic piece, though
Do you use any chemical in q-tip? thank you
Just white vinegar
@@learnsavediy Thank you so much!
Turns out the negative battery terminal that's supposed to be soldered onto the board had snapped clean off and was sitting comfortably in the back shell. I thought it was just supposed to be that way until I saw the board on this video lol. The seller must have dropped it. Soldered it together where it had snapped and it lives again
Sometimes it’s helpful just to see a “good” example so you can give it a once over to look for any obvious signs of issue. Glad it was a simple fix!
What if that's not the problem?
This is a very common issue since AA batteries typically leak electrolyte which impedes the connectivity. If new battery and a good cleaning don’t do the trick, take a look at your wires and connections to the circuit board (burns or messed up components.
Thanks but I don't have that screwdriver to remove the screws
I got mine from Walmart (see video: ua-cam.com/video/4RU2WAIWZc4/v-deo.html) but if you don't have one close, this set looks pretty good and has Y-tip bits: amzn.to/3hQuOoD (Affiliate Link)
Thanks
May be weird, but do you have a email adress cuz my black wiimote doesnt work
I do but it's nice to have comments here so folks can contribute/learn as well. theaveragejoediy@gmail.com is the email but feel free to also comment here.
