    For people trying to open their remote:
    1:25 the editor circled the wrong part.
    The plastic piece shown on the left is a cylinder extending from the top piece of the remote. It’s used to stop everything from moving when the remote is closed, as it hugs a contour on the motherboard and bottom piece.
    The plastic piece on the right is a tab that extends from the bottom piece and holds the motherboard to the bottom piece. It does not touch the top piece of the remote.
    To the right of the red circle, you can just barely see the actual tab.
    (Shown at 1:31)
    The female part extends from the bottom piece with the contour facing the outside of the remote. The male part is on the top of the remote and is not visible.
    The male part is very small and is very likely to break when opening.
    At 1:34.5 you can see they actually broke both the male tabs off the top piece of the controller (Slow to 0.25x speed to see the in-focus frame).
    Don’t feel bad tho, it’s very likely to happen to you too.

      @@joaovictormansano I use the Y2.3 tri-wing screwdriver. But, the next size up or down should work fine too.

    By the way: the clips aren't in the position the red circle shows. They are at the height of the up-button. Using a tool to push the upper shell gently outwards at this area will prevent them from breaking.

    There is a big problem with your analysis. The BU8849FV is not a flash memory. It is a 24pin ADPCM decoder with an 11 bit digital to analogue audio output and contains an audio amplifier. The 16pin BU8844FV version of this chip used in other wii remotes did not have an inbuilt amplifier and it needed a separate audio amplifier support chip..

    • @RoddyDev
      @RoddyDev 4 роки тому +6

      Yeah, you're right. There's no need to have 16kb of flash memory if there's already 128kb for storing all the microcontroller codes. Also notice that they didn't mention any audio decoder chip at all in the video.

  • @cavjjunior
    @cavjjunior 2 роки тому +2

    After a few minutes the remote dies if I remove batteries and wait some minutes, it will turn on again when I put batteries and will die soon again. Not a battery problem. I'm going to try and replace the main capacitor, that huge one near the bottom. Am I nuts?

    hey can you help me? I have a chuck that is having issues with the motion. I have to smack it to get it to work even then it won't stay working properly. I bought a cheap chuck and the motion controls are fine but the stick is stiff and I don't like how the c button feels. I this the broken chuck is just getting "jammed" or stuck if you wanna call it that. I looked up how the motion control works and that its type of gyro so I figured maybe the gyro in the chuck was getting stuck which is why smacking it work by maybe knocking the gyro loose and back into normal position. anyways is there a way to fix this? I just don't want to spent money on something I think I could just fix. I already thought about swapping out the buttons but I still have the problem with the stick being kinda stiff. please and thanks for the help

      Just open it up so you can figure out what is actually wrong.
      Look up “GameCube joystick replacement”.
      That should show you how to fix it, and what the problem is (worn stick or faulty connecting part)

    Can you please repeat this video with a wii remote with motion plus integrated? i think i have a faulty resistor/capacitor i dont know, its small and has the letter G on it or at least its looks like it. next to it is the letter F11 its between the 1 and 2 buttons

    • @Kadano
      @Kadano 3 місяці тому

      You are probably referring to F1, which is the primary fuse. If it doesn't have continuity, you'll have to replace it with a new fuse. If you don't mind the risk of more vital parts getting potentially damaged, you could also just bridge it with a tiny wire.
      Before you replace or bridge the fuse, you should check for liquid damage / trace rot.
